"Was it successful?" I asked over the phone, my voice low and edged, as I listened to every word he had to say.
"Good," I muttered, hanging up the call.

I don't usually stay up at this time, but here I am, wrapped in the confines of the blanket that, instead of warmth, made a cold shriek run over my skin.
My eyes drifted through the window, a sudden stillness stealing my breath as the darkness loomed ahead.
Something creepy made my mind a mess as sleep refused to settle on my eyelids.
"Aaron."
I called out through the mind-link to one of the guards, and he answered within seconds.
"Was she able to serve the punishment?"
Silence. It only lasted a few seconds, but it was enough to steal the air from my lungs.
"No… she had an inquiry and fainted, but as we speak, I gathered she's up now after the healer attended to her," he reported, and my grip on the duvet suddenly released.
"Who sent for… why am I just hearing about it?"
