Detective Cheng stood there looking at the B-Movie covers "Dracula's Revenge" and "Night of the Vampire". He then looked up to see that An Jian and Li Zhao had slowly moved together in unison to the leather sofa and sat down on opposite sides.
The Detective read the back covers of the DVDs then realize the room was silent. He looked up again and saw that An Jian and Li Zhao had not moved since sitting down, were they angry at each other? He walked over to investigate. An Jian and Li Zhao both had there head down with there bangs hiding their faces. The Detective bent down for a closer look as they didn't react to his presence. He then noticed An Jian's eyes were clothes and her lips were pale. "An Jian, wake up, can you hear me?" An Jian then spoke softly without opening her eyes "I just need to rest a little, I'll be fine" and passed out again. Detective Cheng lifted An Jian into his arms and rushed out of the compound telling Wang Yi, he should check on Li Zhao as well.
An Jian woke up in a dark room with machines softly beeping. It took a while for her eyes to focus but when she looked over, there was a view of the city and silhouette of someone sitting by the window. When her eyes fully focused, she could see it was Detective Cheng with his face resting on his palm, eyes closed lit by the moonlight. He had a handsome jawline, full lips and a masculine face but slept with a gentle demeanor. An Jian then caught herself thinking about these useless thoughts and remembered Li Zhao had said An Hao was still alive and needed her help to fight monsters.
An Jian tried to sit up and could feel a slight pain in her chest but she pushed through it and wiggled herself up and rotated her body until her legs dangled off the bed. She then realized she wasn't wearing her armour and had odd tubes connected to her arm.
An Jian figured she must be in this world's version of a medical clinic but wanted to get on with finding An Hao and pulled off the tubes and clips causing a machine to go into a long beep waking up Detective Cheng.
Detective Cheng jumped up seeing An Jian out of bed "You're awake! How are you feeling? Are you hurt?" He then noticed An Jian had pulled off the IV and the heart rate monitor was going off . "What are you doing, you need to stay in bed and recover". An Jian put on a smile and slid off the bed onto the floor and flailed her arms into different stretches showing she was okay, but frowned when certain movements did hurt, but she tried to put on a strong face and a smile for the Detective. "I'm fine, just needed a little rest, lets go see Li Zhao"
Detective Cheng raised an eyebrow seeing through her act. "Li Zhao is quite injured as well, I don't think he will be ready to talk for a few days". An Jian then walked with her arms behind her back pacing back and forth trying to look graceful "How about the painted boxes, Li Zhao placed on the table, you know what they are?".
Detective Cheng with a stern face unhappy An Jian wasn't taking her recovery seriously "You mean the movies, we can watch them after you rest some more".
A nurse suddenly came in and turned off the heart rate monitor. "Miss An, it would be best to take your boyfriend's advice and rest a couple more days in bed".
An Jian about to open her mouth to correct the nurse but then Detective Cheng coughed "We are just friends"
The nurse smiled then looked to An Jian "Well you should take the advice of this young man and stay in bed"
An Jian smiled "I'm fine! Look!" and started doing jumping jacks and running in place. "Take me home Detective, I mean... back to your place"
Detective Cheng sternly "You are really feeling okay?".
An Jian looked at him with puppy eyes and nodded "Yes.." then enthusiastically smiled "lets go and watch those … you called it movies?"
The nurse looked at Detective Cheng suspiciously smiling thinking these two were definitely a couple.
Detective Cheng nodded to the nurse then placed his old T-shirt and sweat pants into An Jian's hand and closed the curtain blocking her out of view. "Change into those, your armor is at my place right now"
An Jian came out form the curtains wearing the Detective's old clothes and kept up the energetic act and nodded to the nurse, dragging Detective Cheng by his arm out of the room.
The nurse stood there watching the bubbly An Jian drag the tall brooding Detective out of the hospital, envying the handsome couple like a scene from a romantic comedy.
