Rain.
It all started with rain.
Even now he could feel the heavy droplets running down his face like tears.
By his side, she was smiling. Of course she was, she knew what would happen or at least he thought she knew. But nonetheless her smile was beautiful, more so than any other he remembered.
That was no surprise, she was quite possibly the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Her eyes were a deep, dark midnight black that threatened to suck you in. Her hair, long and wet from the rain and from his perspective mirrored the night sky. In contrast her skin was deathly pale but it did not give her a sickly look, instead it exalted her beauty, for him there was no doubt, her most enchanting feature was her smile, her cheeky ethereal smile.
"Ready?" Her voice was smooth and velvety, calm, and collected as if she had done this a billion times before.
She had.
"Will I see you again?" His voice was weak and dying but still quite clear as if he did not want this moment to end.
"You will, quite soon." There was no uncertainty in her tone.
"Then let us depart." His tone changed now it had even less strength, but his partner did not seem to mind.
"Lets." And then he saw them, dark and powerful, slender and graceful.
A moment later they were gone with the sound of powerful wings.

Liam Carter was a semi-normal guy.
All he really had going for him were his halfway-decent looks and a sharp brain.
His tall, 1.81 meters frame was muscular from exercise and marred with stretch marks from a previous time of bad decisions, his face angular with a mop of brown hair dancing between his brown eyes, he was currently running on the street.
Wearing a casual look of jeans and a hoodie, remnants from his not so fit days, he was trying to dodge the passersby's as he approached the University of Psychology, as usual, he was late.
Psychology was not his first choice, but his family insisted that he must have a degree and he was less bored by psychology than by math. Even then he did not take it seriously at all and he preferred to pass the time planning for impossible scenarios and researching whatever picked his curiosity.
"Ugh, again…" And just like that his morning started.
*******
'Police investigates kidnapping…. A child…. suburbs…. this morning" He was already home enjoying his lunch while listening to the TV.
Today was special, he could feel it in his bones.
Not just because he had seen the most beautiful goth girl ever on the way back home but also because Mr. Anderson decided to debate over an interesting theme, clearly, he did not want half his class to take a nap.
The concept of good and evil.
An interesting subject but not one where he could take much part.
And so, as it started to rain lightly, he began to ponder over the subject, on one hand, he wasn't entirely convinced that everyone had goodness in their heart but he could not dismiss it either.
One thing he agreed with thought is that if push comes to shove, all beings would try to save themselves first as that is what their survival instincts told them.
Even if the life of a loved one was on the line, humans will always try to save their skin first.
Well, that´s not entirely correct, there were those that would sacrifice everything for another.
The example of a loving mother came to his mind.
Not his though.
His mother will sooner debase him for anything than say a kind word to him.
Such was life.
He completed the mandatory two-page assignment that was for tomorrow and saw that it was only seven in the evening.
Perhaps a walk would help clear his mind.
He enjoyed walking in the rain, it soothed his heart and calmed his mind.
By the time he walked out of his apartment it was already twilight, the light from the sun was blocked by dark clouds, there was a bit of wind but not enough to make him change his mind.
As he walked, he began to ponder, in his 20 years of life, what has he accomplished?
He felt oddly empty.
Not a significant other, his first relationship was a disaster, his friend joked about how he had a Schrodinger girlfriend, at times it appeared and at times she did not. He didn't even want to think about the second. It had been enough to convince him never to trust first impressions again and to distrust the intentions of everyone.
He realized that, maybe, he had not gotten over this as much as he thought.
Regarding family, he could not bring himself to care, they had treated him like a puppet for the most part of his life and now they had the audacity to call him an asshole when he did not bend over backwards to please them anymore, they could die screaming for all he cared.
As he finished this though he came along a strange sight, an abandoned building with a hint of light in it.
He knew it was supposed to be abandoned, for he had spent more than a few evenings inside.
He realized that the smart thing to do was to ignore all of it and go back home.
But something stopped him.
Something told him that to leave was to go back to mediocrity, he had always fantasized about a chance like this. About how he would save the one in danger while overcoming the threat himself.
It was childish, he knew, but still..
He entered the building.
It was an old abandoned place, broken windows, no doors and walls stripped bare to brick and mortar.
The air inside was damp, thick with mold and regret. Every footstep echoed like it didn't want him there.
And unlike the other times when he had came here, he could hear voices inside.
He rationalized, he could sneak around and observe what was going on, if there was not anything serious, he could go home without anyone even knowing.
These thoughts remained in his mind as he sneaked to the second level, there he saw an appalling scene.
An older man, maybe forty, was running a knife over the arm of a teenager, probably fifteen, the poor boy looked stunned with terror, which wasn't a surprise.
"If your whore of a mother didn't reject me then, I would have been your father" The voice of the man was raspy and raw, it gave a slimy feeling, a disgusting slimy feeling.
"…Mom?" That tone awakened a feeling within himself that he did not know he possessed. Without further delay he began to approach them quietly.
"Yes! Your bitch of a mother…. You cannot talk to me like that Greg! ... Do not touch me, Greg! Who does she things she is?! She should have stayed quiet as all women should! That is our right that's why God crea-" Standing behind him without him noticing and delivering a devastating kick to the ribs with such strength that he felt them shatter, he made his presence known.
The man crumbled and bent like a pretzel, he could hear him gasping for breath but his new set of broken ribs probably made things difficult.
"Your god is probably puking right now." Delivering that line, he made his way to the terrified kid.
"Kid, are you tied?" Not wanting to waste time asking useless questions he went for the fundamental one right now.
'Nods'
"Show me." He was tied by some steel chains, not in his right mind and with adrenaline running in his blood he tried to break them, he did not break them but he bended them enough that the individual links of the chain could be separated.
Strange he did not remember having that much strength.
"Behind!" But it did not matter, not a second later he felt the knife entering his lower back. Oddly, he did not feel pain, only hotness.
"…How?" He remembered the feeling of his ribs shattering against his legs, he should not be able to move much less try to stab him.
"Ugh…" And with that he dropped.
Realizing that the fool had used the last of his strength to stab him he could not help but laugh a bit, the wound punctured his kidney, so it was not that lethal if he could get quick medical attention, with that in mind he turned to the kid.
Only to realize that he was gone.
"Haha, look at that, I can't really blame him…" Even now he was alone, fitting for one such as him.
Not really wanting to die there he himself dialed the emergency number.
"999, What is your emergency?"
"Stab wound and a man with broken ribs in Street Martin Nº 24 on the second floor of the abandoned house, send help quickly." Not wanting to deal with the noise he hung up.
Pressing his wound and leaning on a wall he closed his eyes, Liam tried to vanish the thoughts that told him that he should have gone home.
"It isn't that bad, at least you saved a child in need." Opening his eyes he saw the same face he had seen this afternoon and then it hit him, who was standing in front of him.
"I didn't know you also worked here." This was not possible; it just cannot be.
"I don't." That checky smile, he knew it.
"I suppose that's all I will get huh …" Not that he hoped to get something more, some things are simply better left alone.
"Yep." The hotness of the wound had started to recede leaving only coldness.
"It is time?" There was no fear in him, how could there be?
"It is." Her voice had a sudden ethereal calmness.
"The child, what happened to him?" Even now his mind wandered to the boy, poor boy, so young and already burdened with trauma.
"He is already on his way home rattled with fear and guilt, with time he will become an important man to this world, inspired by you." The coldness receded a bit and an indescribable warmness creeped in him, it felt good.
"At least I managed to do something with my life then." He was not a waste of space in the end, he had done something.
"Don't be so pessimistic, it was a good life, longer than many others." That did not make him feel any better, but it was true.
"I suppose…. That means that your siblings are also here." He would not want to stick his nose where it did not belong, but his curiosity won in the end.
"They aren't." Again, probably something he did not want to be involved with.
"I see…" He, in fact, did not see.
"You are taking this a bit better than what I expected." She almost appeared surprised, almost.
"Well… I had a lifetime to think about how I would meet you." That was bad, even for him.
"And now that you have, what are your thoughts?" His thoughts? He could not possibly share his real th-
"That you are even more beautiful in person." And there it goes.
"Thanks… It has been quite a while since the last time someone complimented me." He could not fathom why; she was the most beautiful being he had ever laid eyes on.
"Hey..." The first time she had ever shown doubt since he had seen her, which to be fair was not that long.
"Yes?" His time was running short, his shallow breath and the starting difficult to breathe as witnesses.
"I hadn't done this for a long while, but would you like another chance?" …Another chance?
"Where would I go?" He really did not want to end up in a galaxy full of terrors, even if the mechs and the aesthetic pleased him.
"That´s for you to find out." A leap of faith, huh?
Even so, even if he started anew, he did not want to forget her, he wanted something to remember her by, something like a name, he already knew her name, but it was one of millions, no, he wanted something unique, something only a few ever knew.
"I know your name, but what can I call you?"
"I am who I am, but if you want, you could call me Teleute." She accepted.
"Teleute it is then." It rolled very well on his tongue.
"I would ask something of you if you don't mind." Here was one of the most important beings in creation, asking a favor from him? He did not have words.
"Anything."
"The task I have for you isn't for the faint of heart, are you sure?" The second time she showed something more than absolute calmness, worry.
"For you, the one that would give me another chance, anything." For what could he give her in return?
"Hehe, I am grateful." Her laugh was precious, so very precious.
"Ready?"
"Will we see again?"
"We will, quite soon"
"Then let us depart."
"Lets."
*******
In the vast expanse of the cosmos laid a figure that at first glance would appear to be an old man.
His eyes seemed to see everything layered with infinite wisdom.
Then suddenly, he turned his head in one specific direction.
There he saw a comet or at least an object that resembled a comet, enveloped by a protective dark mantle as if the thing inside was precious.
"Heh." Seemingly amused he had a small laugh.
"You have always been quite dutiful, let it not be said that I do not recompensate good work." He knew the rules, he himself had written them, so such a union was forbitten, but just this time he would interfere.
He would give them a chance. An opportunity. Nothing more.
He raised his hand and as soon as he did a dazzling ball of golden light appeared above it, it seemed simple at first glance but those with the capacity to see would be stunned by the miracle in front of them.
It was a part of himself, or at least, a part of himself that he heavily modified to fulfil this task.
Nonetheless, it was still a part of him, and as such, boundless, and with potential to equal him, in time and in perfect circumstances.
Such a precious creation warranted a name, a good name. Thinking for a bit and taking inspiration from those mortal books he had read recently he came up with a name.
"From now on you shall be The One, to make him the one high above them all." Laughing a bit more, he pointed his arm in the direction intended, and let it out.
"Lets see how this goes." And with that he was gone.
Just a chance, nothing more.

Waking from what seemed to be an endless dream he found himself floating.
He did not have time to contemplate his new location for suddenly something happened.
A bright flash of gold.

I have not decided the pairings yet but I will warn you that there is OC/Multi
