Chapter 2 - The power of the belt

Kyushu Island, Foundry Factory

After that intense fight with the monster, the guy deactivates the belt. Without a second thought, he tosses it to the girl, along with the phone.

Mysterious Guy: (In a monotone voice, not looking at her) Your bag's pretty shady. You got me into some serious trouble because of it.

Girl: (Stops him, her voice trembling) H-hey, wait! Where are you going?

Mysterious Guy: (Turns to leave) To find my bag. Someone stole it three days ago.

Girl: (Confused) Hey, that's the least of our problems! Aren't you surprised by everything that just happened?

Mysterious Guy: I'm definitely surprised... a lot. (He says in his same emotionless, monotone voice.)

The Next Morning

They're both sitting on a bench, drinking coffee. The guy keeps blowing on his coffee, completely ignoring the girl.

Girl: (A little exasperated) Hey... are you going to talk to me or what?

The guy doesn't pay attention and just keeps blowing on his coffee.

Girl: What? Don't you have questions about what happened? About what this belt is and why you transformed? (She keeps pushing, but he still ignores her.)

Girl: Well, whatever, I wouldn't know what to tell you either... All I know is... my dad sent me the belt and the motorcycle from Tokyo. It must be some kind of message, don't you think? (She cheers up a little.) Oh, I haven't talked to my dad in a long time, so that's why I decided to go visit him. I'm on a trip to Tokyo. (She says with a mix of nostalgia and excitement, but the guy is still just blowing on his coffee.)

Girl: ... So, what's your name? I'm Mari Sonoda. (She smiles, waiting for an answer, but he ignores her.)

Mari: (A little more frustrated) Hey, how long are you gonna keep blowing on your coffee?

The guy takes a small sip without saying a word. He makes a face, showing it's still too hot, and goes back to blowing on it.

Mari: (Laughing mockingly) What? Are you a nekojita? (Someone who can't handle hot food or drinks.) They say you can't trust people like that...

Mysterious Guy: (Looks up, annoyed) You!

Mari: (In a challenging tone) What?

The guy stays silent, staring at her with annoyance.

Mysterious Guy: You're a pain. Don't drag me into your problems. It's none of my business and I don't need you putting me in the middle of this situation. (He says, visibly annoyed.)

Just then, his phone rings. He answers, has a short conversation, hangs up, and gets up from the bench toward his motorcycle.

Mysterious Guy: ... I gotta go. The police called. They found my bag. (He gets up. Mari tries to stop him, but he ignores her.)

Mari: (Grabbing his arm, causing him to spill coffee on the ground) Hey, wait! Don't leave me here!

Mysterious Guy: Ugh, whatever... just don't get in my way, kid. (He pulls his arm free with indifference.)

The guy gets on his motorcycle and heads for the police station. Without a second thought, Mari gets on hers and follows him.

At the Police Station

They both arrive at the station. The officer asks the guy to describe the contents of his bag.

Mysterious Guy: It had red and yellow underwear, a towel, and a shirt.

Mari bites her lip to hold back her laughter. The guy glares at her furiously.

Police Officer: All right. Just sign your name, and you can go.

The guy signs the paper. Mari leans over to read the name.

Mari: (Smiling) Your name is Tetsuya Inui.

The guy pulls away from her and leaves the police station. Mari follows him out to the parking lot.

Mari: (Laughing out loud) Hey, wait... (Tetsuya stops to look at her.) Your clothes are so weird and quirky! Hahahaha!

Tetsuya gets annoyed and walks toward his motorcycle.

Mari: Hey, Tetsuya, wait! Don't forget this. (She tosses him the bag that held the belt case.)

Tetsuya: (Throws the bag back at her, annoyed) Hey! What's your problem? This isn't my issue, brat. Now leave me alone!

They toss the bag back and forth like a ball until Tetsuya gets fed up and throws it into the air. The bag lands in a nearby park.

Mari: (Angry) Hey, you idiot! What do you think you're doing?!

Mari goes to look for the bag. Tetsuya is about to get on his motorcycle, but feeling a little guilty, he gently hits his helmet and, resigned, decides to help

Mari. He goes to Mari, and they both search for the bag.

Tetsuya: Look, here it is. (He pulls a bag out of a bush, shakes it off, and tosses it to Mari.)

When she opens it, Mari realizes the bag contains Tetsuya's belongings. He accidentally threw his own bag. Tetsuya walks over and sees that it's his bag. They both run back to the parking lot, and when they get there, they realize the bag with the belt is gone, which means it was stolen.

Tetsuya: (Annoyed) Don't laugh! Remember, the bag that was stolen was the one with the belt.

Mari: (Annoyed) Oh, you're such an idiot! You can't do anything right. Come on, let's go find the other bag.

They both get on their motorcycles and start searching. After a while, they stop at the beach.

Mari: Hey... can I ask you something?

Tetsuya: Depends on the question.

Mari: Why are you traveling?

Tetsuya: ... Because I don't have a dream and I'm looking for one... that dream... (He says wistfully.)

Mari: Well... well... want to know mine? I want to become a professional hairstylist. (She says enthusiastically.)

Tetsuya: (Indifferent and a little sarcastic) Oh, really? Good for you. Good luck. See ya, brat.

Mari: (Stops him) Hey! You're not going anywhere until we find that belt. Remember, it's not a normal belt. Plus, this whole situation is your fault.

Tetsuya sighs, annoyed, but ends up agreeing. They keep looking and end up at a store.

Mari: (She stops in front of a store) Look, Tetsuya, these scissors are everything a stylist needs... Too bad they're so expensive! (She says with disappointment.)

Tetsuya: (He lightly pulls on Mari's arm and points to an object in another display case.) Look over there.

They both see the belt for sale in a pawn shop. They go inside and ask the owner how he got it.

Seller: Ah, I bought it from someone.

Tetsuya: Does he at least know what it is?

Seller: Yeah, I know what this belt is. I'd buy it myself if I were a collector.

Mari: Sir, but if you know this belt is stolen...

Tetsuya: Yeah, besides, this belt belongs to her.

Seller: Stolen or not, I paid for it, which makes me the owner.

In the end, they both leave, defeated, trying to figure out how to get the money. They go to a city fair. Mari sets up a kids' haircut stand, and Tetsuya handles getting customers. While Tetsuya watches Mari cut hair, he realizes how good she is. After a while, they get the money and buy the belt.

After that, they both go to a noodle shop to eat. Here, Mari and Tetsuya continue to argue about who will be in charge of the belt. Tetsuya, fed up with Mari, takes advantage of her going to the bathroom. He grabs her bag, leaves the shop, and gets on his motorcycle, ready to leave.

Tetsuya: (Annoyed) What a pain having to deal with that girl. I wouldn't hang out with her even if she were my wife.

Just then, Mari comes out of the restaurant and sees him.

Mari: (Yells, in a hurry) Hey, Tetsuya! Where do you think you're going?

Seeing her, Tetsuya speeds off, leaving Mari alone.

Mari: (Stamps her foot on the ground, frustrated) Ugh! Idiot! He left me here, ugh!

A little later, Mari continues on her way, but when she gets to the beach, a guy on a motorcycle stops her. He takes off his helmet and asks her about the belt. Mari tells him she won't give it to him, and the strange motorcyclist reveals himself to be an elephant monster.

Mari is chased to a pier. While running, she realizes that she and Tetsuya switched bags again. Tetsuya has the belt, and she's defenseless.

Mari: (Furious) Ugh, that dummy can't do anything right!

With Tetsuya:

Tetsuya stops to rest near a truck. He notices his bag feels heavier than normal. He checks it and realizes it's the briefcase with the belt.

Tetsuya: Ugh, crap!

Back with Mari:

Mari: (Defiantly) I won't give you the bag. And even if I had it, I still wouldn't give it to you, you monster.

Monster: Well, maybe I don't have the bag, but I'll have a nice snack with you, little one.

While Mari tries to escape, she trips and is at the mercy of the monster.

Suddenly, the roar of an engine is heard, and Tetsuya returns, ramming the monster with his motorcycle and pushing it away from Mari.

Mari: You...!

Tetsuya: This is the last time I'm helping you, lilttle one. All right, let's finish this, you monster. You want the belt? Come and get it.

Tetsuya takes the briefcase out of the bag and puts on the belt. He takes the

Faiz Phone and enters the code 5-5-5.

Faiz Phone: Standing by!

Tetsuya raises the phone and yells:

Tetsuya: Henshin!

He puts the phone in the center of the belt.

Faiz Gear: Completed!

A red light envelops Tetsuya, and when it fades, he appears in the Faiz armor.

Tetsuya fights the monster. They are evenly matched in strength until the monster changes into its second form. The lower part of its body transforms into elephant legs, making the monster grow in size.

Mari, seeing that the situation has gotten complicated, runs to the briefcase. She takes out a laser pointer-like attachment. Tetsuya falls near her, and she takes the phone's chip, places it in the attachment, and it activates as a powerful amplifier that she places on Tetsuya's calf.

Mari: (Yells) Kick now!

Tetsuya: (Pushes her away) All right, now get out of the way and take cover.

Tetsuya is thrown several feet away. Mari hides in an abandoned truck. The monster hits the car, and Mari, from underneath, yells for Tetsuya to press "Enter" on the phone. He obeys.

Faiz Gear: Exceed Charge!

A powerful energy flows through Tetsuya, from the belt to the amplifier on his ankle, to maximize his kick's power. Tetsuya gets up, jumps in the air, and hits the monster.

The kick generates a huge shockwave, creating a whirlwind that goes right through the monster. The monster bursts into blue flames and turns to ashes, giving Tetsuya the victory.

Tetsuya goes to Mari and pulls her out of the truck. They both look at the chaos the fight has caused, exhausted but safe.
