Chapter 3 - Curious Tuesday, Thrilling at Heart

Good morning, everyone… As you know, today is my first day at work with that handsome guy. If you could see me right now, you'd laugh until your stomach hurt; it feels as if I'm starting a job for the very first time… A little curious, a little excited, and somehow missing just a touch of shyness. In this mood, I need to be careful not to cause any mix-ups at work. This is the first time the long part of the piece has such a loop. It feels like… maybe that guy could be good for me. I hope I'm not wrong about this. Because if I am, I'll carry it in my heart, and that would affect me deeply.

Now, I want to ask you all: "What should I wear today?" I've got two options: one is a shirt-and-skirt combo, and the other is a dress. The first: a white shirt, a pleated brown skirt, a classic silver-and-gold mix wristwatch, rings, bracelets, and a gold necklace. Or the second: a navy-toned dress with a flared skirt and a fitted, half-sleeved top, paired with a black belt. That one would go with silver jewelry. I'd wear classic black stilettos with it.

Friends… I think I'll go with the dress. It's both my style and a really elegant look. I've put on the dress, added my silver earrings, necklace, bracelet, and watch. My black platform heels are on. I've styled my hair in soft waves, with a butterfly-style twist in the front. Grabbed my black bag. I'm getting into the car now. It's almost late. I need to be there in half an hour.

The traffic looks heavy today. The radio is playing popular songs in perfect order. It feels like the universe prepared today just for me. Inside, I'm all fluttery, like a child. Everything is going smoothly. I didn't have time for breakfast this morning, so at the café inside the building where the office is located, I grabbed a pastry and a coffee as my breakfast. There were still five minutes before my start time. After finishing, I got myself and my new coworker a classic coffee and headed to the office.

At the office, I surprised him suddenly. Before I could even say anything, he greeted me first:

— "Good morning!"

I quickly replied:

— "Good morning… I got us coffee. I wasn't sure what you usually drink, so I went with classic…"

Before I could finish my sentence, he took the cup:

— "Thank you. Yes, I do like classic coffee. I was wondering how I'd wake myself up anyway. In return for this gesture, I'd like to buy you lunch today. Would that be wrong of me?"

For a moment, I was shocked, but I didn't let my feelings show too much:

— "Yes, I'd accept. Do you know this area well? What kind of food should we try today, Mr. Jack?"

My slightly formal tone seemed to surprise him, but after all, we were at work, and I didn't want to increase the level of familiarity too quickly. He replied:

— "Ms. Emily, as you wish, it can be personalized that way. I don't know this area very well, but on the way here, I did see a Korean place. If you'd like, we could go there for lunch."

I thought about it for a moment, then accepted his offer. After several hours of steady work, the lunch break arrived. Mr. Jack looked not only very handsome but also disciplined and hardworking. He was caught up in an intense workflow, handling some programs and making sure nothing was left for overtime.

When lunch came, we enjoyed a really pleasant meal together. Then we chatted a bit, sharing some professional experiences from the past. When we got back, there wasn't much work left. I told him that we could probably leave early today since the remaining tasks could be handled easily. He wished me good luck with the rest and left the office.
