{STEPHANIE}
Dry twigs snapped under my bare feet as I ran through the woods. The lines of densely growing trees seemed to have no end. I told myself I could distinguish shaped in the darkness of the night, but the truth was I was nearly running blind.
"There's no point in running away from us!" boomed through the darkness. "You can only run, but you cannot hide. We'll catch you sooner or later."
They all laughed as they chased after me as if my attempt to escape was a sort of entertainment for them.
Every muscle in my body burned and doubts began to fill my mind. Would it hurt less if I stopped and just let them take me? Maybe my death would come quickly, painlessly. No. The person that put them to the job wanted them to make me suffer. I knew that, and still, a part of me wanted to stop and face them.
