Chapter 18 - The Last Days of First Year

After the emotional days surrounding his schoolmate's death, Abhiram slowly returned to his routine.

One day, he went with his friend Chozhan to a fashion show in which Chozhan was participating. Abhiram spent the day with him, enjoying the atmosphere and taking a temporary break from the pressure of college and exams. It was a simple day, but it gave him some happiness after everything he had been through.

The very next day, examinations continued.

First came Bio-organic Chemistry. Abhiram entered the exam with a calm mind and performed well. After that came Physics, Engineering Drawing, and BEEE. One by one, he completed them.

But Abhiram didn't realize something.

Those were the final days of his first year of college.

He had unknowingly reached the end of another chapter of his life.

What he thought was simply another examination period would soon become the beginning of a long-awaited vacation.

The next day brought another unexpected moment. Actor Vijay became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, a major event that caught Abhiram's attention. With college temporarily over, he looked forward to the coming twenty days of leave.

For once, he wanted to enjoy life.

He wanted to travel, meet people, explore places, and simply feel free after a difficult academic year.

He started making plans.

But once again, life had another plan for him.

The college reopening was postponed.

At first, Abhiram was happy. More holidays meant more time to enjoy himself. But as the postponement continued and the reopening was eventually pushed into June, his plans began falling apart.

The vacation he had imagined was slowly disappearing.

He couldn't make the long-distance trips he had planned. The uncertainty made it difficult to organize anything properly. Instead of the long vacation he had expected, he found himself waiting for college to reopen.

Eventually, college finally reopened.

But Abhiram didn't return for normal classes immediately. He had practical examinations to complete.

He went to college, attended the practical exams, and waited again.

About twenty days later, the semester examinations began.

During those days before the exams, Abhiram still managed to visit a few places and enjoy whatever free time remained. But as the examination dates approached, he made another decision.

It was time to concentrate.

No more unnecessary distractions.

No more wasting valuable study time.

He returned to his books and prepared seriously.

When the semester exams finally began, Abhiram gave each paper his best effort. The long journey through first year had taught him how important preparation, patience, and consistency were.

Eventually, the final semester examination arrived.

He wrote it and walked out of the examination hall.

First year was finally over.

The following day was Sunday.

But there was hardly any time to celebrate.

Second year was already waiting.

There was no long holiday separating the two academic years. College life simply continued.

On the third day of college, however, Abhiram decided to take four days of leave. He wanted to finally experience some of the long-distance travel and personal time that his postponed vacation had taken away from him.

For those few days, he stepped away from college.

Then he returned.

This time, there was a different feeling inside him.

He was no longer the same student who had entered college during his first year carrying fear, confusion, and memories of his past.

He had failed.

He had passed.

He had made friends.

He had lost people.

He had discovered his creativity.

He had become a meme content creator.

He had faced injuries, academic pressure, loneliness, and unexpected changes.

And somehow, he had made it to second year.

Now, there was only one thing left to do.

Move forward.

Abhiram returned to college and began concentrating on his new academic year.

The journey continued.

But this time, he knew himself much better.
