Chapter 4 - 4) Reunited

Daysha

When Hatake Sensei said he was productive, he wasn't lying.

When Shiori arrived he didn't waste any time getting right to work.

He made each of us tell our story, exposing ourselves to each other because of companionship. Now, we are suppose to trust each other with everything.

Shiori has an aunt who works as a Sensei here as well, she was won just like Hatake too.

He called the men with the brown uniforms, brownies. Then told the story of how they took his family of four, and his aunt for the competition. His mother and father both lost faith and chose to commit suicide alongside his aunt. They left Shiori and his little brother River to die in the bloodbath.

When it was my turn to tell my story, Shiori jumped at the sound of my name. He kept his eyes on me from that point on but I never questioned, maybe in a better time.

Hatake taught us the fields of nature and the advantage we could take of it if we used our chakra properly.

"We only have ten days so this is gonna be hard but I'm gonna hell each of you find your chakra natures, that way you could be a true Shinobi and do things other people you're fighting against couldn't even think of." Hatake went to his desk, grabbed a few sheets of some off white paper. He handed each of us a piece of paper. "These are gonna help us know your true spiritual natures."

Cyrena asked. "What are we suppose to do with it?"

Hatake answered. "Concentrate your spiritual energy on that sheet of paper and you'll see."

Shiori was the first to complete the goal, setting his sheet of paper on fire.

Hatake clapped for him. "Shiori, you're a fire type!"

Shiori cracked the first smile I've ever seen from him. He cheered us on. "Your turn guys!"

We went on long, I tried draining everything out and going numb as I did the very first time I increased my energy.

The paper in my hand fell to the ground as a rock.

Hatake called out. "Earth type!"

I smiled, "So what the hell does that mean?"

"You can use your chakra to do special abilities with your nature type. You are an earth type therefore everything around you is in your position." Hatake continued. "Day, you're my favorite nature type!"

My brother's paper formed into a small tornado, then vanished. Casa cheered happily. "I'm a wind type baby!"

That left Cyrena, still concentrated her chakra on that piece of paper before it turned to flames.

"Cyrena and Shiori are both fire types. Day is an earth type and Casa a wind type. You are a special group." Hatake sighed. "Now listen, we're gonna get start getting to work real soon so if you have any questions roaming in those heads of yours..."

"How many of your students have actually won Sensei?" Shiori asked almost immediately. "I'm just interesting in knowing the actual odds."

"This will help exponentially." Hatake started, "But I haven't had a student to win yet Shiori."

"No way." Casa said. "So you teach people super powers and they still lose?"

Hatake laughed. "It isn't a super power, anyone can do these things if they put their knowledge into it. But it's hard in there, and using too much of your chakra is dangerous for your health."

Shiori explained. "If we exhaust the energy we possess our body will be extremely fatigued, basically leaving us vulnerable enough to be killed."

Hatake took a deep breath, then closed his eyes.

When Hatake opened his eyes, everything changed.

We were in a totally different location.

Outside under the blue skies, surrounded by a green grass field.

The area was peaceful and quiet.

None of us moved a muscle, just looked around.

Hatake said. "We will train here, so they will be unable to see you."

"How?" Casa asked. "What did you just do?"

"It's an old trick of mind, hey I won this thing for a reason." Hatake said chuckling. "I possess gifts."

"Well we want your gifts." Casa said. "Teach us."

"There's levels to this." Hatake said. "Longer the training, the better. You only have ten days so there's no way you'll be good as me in time. But I can teach you ways to use your chakra in a special way like me. But now, I teach you ninjutsu. First, like i said there's level to it. Using too much of your chakra can kill you and going out of your way to complete a ninjitsu too difficult can jeopardize your life. So always remember to be smart and know your limits."

All of us gave him a nod, then he continued.

Hatake continued his lesson. "I'll teach you each strong ninjutsu of your nature class, but first you each have to master your chakra."

Hatake came to me, he put his hand on my shoulder. "You're an earth type, I want you to make the ground shake from your chakra."

My eyes widened. "What?"

"You heard me, get to it." Hatake let go of my shoulder and moved on to my little brother. "Casa!"

"Yes sir." Casa replied. "What is it I have to do?"

Hatake pulled out his blade, he said. "I want you to toss this blade just using your chakra."

Casa laughed. "No way, your giving us impossible feats."

Hatake handed my little brother the knife then pulled Cyrena and Shiori aside. "Fire types! The both of you will have the same task which means you can help each other."

Hatake closed his eyes, just as he did when he performed the ninjutsu to bring us here.

This time when he opened his eyes, a fireplace appeared.

Hatake pulled the fire away, playing with it using just his hand. "I want you to do exactly this."

"You're a fire type Hatake!" Casa called out. "Dude that's cool!"

"Fire is my main." Hatake said. "But I can also use wind Casa."

"No way!" Casa said. "You gotta show me some stuff!"

"I will, but first you gotta do what I say and complete the task at hand." Hatake smiled. "Good luck."

We all spent hours trying to complete the task Hatake gave us.

Zoning everything out was my best way of storing my spiritual energy, I tried bringing all of my energy into my hands to push the ground repeatedly but it never worked.

I needed to make the ground shake, and I wouldn't stop punching it until I could.

Every punch I tried using more energy.

But I knew I needed some kind of tip.

Hatake came to me, he spoke. "You're pushing yourself too much, take a break. You're persistent, but you also need to be patient for this task."

"I need to get stronger." I said as I continued punching, trying my best to drive my chakra into the ground. "I have to help everyone stay alive."

"Daysha.." Hatake voice softened.

"No!" I called out, punching harder and harder. "I'll do this for my family, and Kalon's family too!"

Instead of my fist, I tried storing all of my chakra into my foot as I stopped the ground.

I stumbled over as my foot sunk into the ground, breaking through. It finally worked, the ground cracked and the surface started to shake.

My little brother celebrated. "Daysha! You did it! You're the best!"

"Thank you Casa." laughed and thanked my brother. "It's your turn now."

Hatake's expression remained shocked, he never believed I would accomplish the task so soon.

"You completed something in little no time that most people take months to complete." Hatake continued. "You're a special one Day. For your next task, you'll be using your energy for any technique of your liking. Just use your imagination with it, and you may create your own signature move."

Hatake separated me from the others and showed me how to do certain jutsu while they tried to complete their task.

For hours I went on doing different moves, moving the ground however I want it.

I learned several blocking and attacking techniques, all earth style jutsu.

Hatake told me he was impressed by my work ethics, and I was moving along faster than anybody he's ever met. Even back at his homeland.

Hatake said. "Let's see how you would do in combat."

I gasped. "Wait, what?"

"You're a fast learner Day." Hatake got into his fighting stance. "Let me see what you can do."

I stand no chance fighting him, but it didn't matter.

A few hand signals and my chakra was enough to put up some kind of fight.

I started by using the first moves he taught me, remember the hand gestures were difficult for only a second. But I got use to everything quickly.

I called out. "Earth style: Soil grabbing technique!"

The turf beneath Hatake arose, the soil from the ground formed into an arm and stretched out for our Sensei.

Hatake retreated, nearly being grabbed by the arm as it chased him stretching the further he went.

"I hope your ready Day!" Hatake moved with so much speed, hopping around and dodging my Earth style attack. He jumped into the air, put his hand close to his mouth. "Fire style! Dragon flame!"

A burst of flames erupted from Hatake's mouth, I watched in awe as his orange and red flames formed into a dragon.

The flames ignited my Earth style technique into ashes, but Hatake wasn't finish.

"Fire style!" Hatake used his hand gestures this time, "Flame ball!"

Hatake Sensei's chakra formed into two fire balls, both grew bigger as he ran for me.

I had to make a decision quick, rather to just summon my defenses or attack while he's running for me.

But he could throw those fire balls at any moment.

"Earth style." I waited for Hatake to get just a little closer before attacking. "Wood cage technique!"

The trees around us collaborated in sync, creating a barrier between Hatake and I.

He threw the fireballs as I expected, ignited the wood in front of me into flames.

Hatake jumped over the trees, continued coming at me full speed. "Fire style: Rolling snake!"

"A flaming snake, great." I mumbled, now I didn't have a choice but to defend myself. "Earth style: Rock Barrier!"

A Giant Boulder blocked his flaming snake attacked, but I knew he was coming for more. Hatake hasn't stopped attacked ever since he destroyed my first jutsu with his fire dragon.

I prepared for what I figured to hopefully be my last attacked. "Earth style: Branch wrap ritual!"

"Too late!" Hatake Sensei called out as he popped up from on top of the boulder. "Flame ball!"

I fled my spot as my last technique replaced me, the giant tree that grew from the ground reached out for Hatake who was within close range.

Hatake was grabbed by multiple tree branches, and was forced to destroy my tree with his flame ball technique in frustration.

Hatake smiled and scratched his head. "I can't believe your this good already!"

"Thank you Sensei, it's your doing."

"I'm honored to have you as a companion." Hatake put his hand on my shoulder. "I can tell you're all gonna be special."

Hatake told us to wrapped things up.

None of us wanted to stop, but were forced when Hatake made us go rest.

Hatake used his ninjutsu to bring us back to his office and called it a night. "If you would like, I'll be here in the morning for you to continue your training."

Before leaving I stopped Shiori and asked him could we talk.

Shiori nodded and got right to the point. "Kalon is here, he said to tell you he's looking for you."

My heart dropped, I wanted to cry right now at the very spot. But I held it in well, following my brother and sister out the room.

I needed to find Kalon, searching for him was the main priority now no matter how much it hurt that he was here.

I went to the cafeteria first, that's where most people just kickback. When he wasn't there I tried different training rooms, my little brother Casa followed me in concern while Cyrena went to get food for our family.

Casa kept asking what was wrong, but I ignored and continued my search for Kalon. I didn't wanna talk about it, because I knew the tears would come sooner than I want.

We came across the gun range, that was more crowded then the previous eight training rooms we checked.

As Shiori would say, the brownies were here. About six of them all had notepads and watched among the men shooting.

There was a large group of people all watching the shooters take down their targets, cheering them on and booing whenever a shot was missed.

I felt Kalon was here.

I thought of Hatake Sensei. Follow your gut.

"Let's split up." I told my brother. "Shiori told me Kalon was chosen, find him!"

Casa didn't ask anymore questions, he stood still for a moment as if he needed to process it.

But he helped me look for Kalon.

We searched through the separate groups, until I gotta good glimpse at one of the men shooting at the main shooting obstacle.

Kalon's little brother, Kyza.

Kyza ran through the shooting course with ease. Every target that popped up went right back down with a single bullet, he never wasted any time and kept moving like a pro soldier.

I called out to Casa, and we grouped back up.

We made our way up to the big group, Kalon would be in the very front cheering on his younger brother.

I didn't wanna make too much of a commotion, so I didn't call out his name.

Soon as we got to the front, I could see him cheering for his brother with a group of other men around him.

Kalon was happy for his brother, and I was happy to see him smiling. I know soon as he sees me the emotional will start coming out, the both of us will be crying together soon.

Casa and I made our way to him, pushing and shoving through the crowd.

Kyza came back from the obstacles, and straight to his big brother. They celebrated with a high five, they expressed so much excitement.

I didn't wanna ruin the moment, but it was too late.

Kyza and I caught eye contact. He tapped his big brother and nodded my direction.

Kalon turned, catching me in his glimpse almost immediately.

He mouth, "Daysha."
