Chapter 1 - prologue

" Seeds of Brotherhood"

Kaeliano Draxmorewas never an easy child to handle. Born into a prestigious family in Italy, with noble blood in his veins, he grew up under constant watch. Yet, he was wild, reckless, and fearless. Trouble seemed to follow him everywhere, but unlike most mischievous children, Kaeliano never bullied the weak. Instead, he often defended them—though in his own rough way.

One day, his mischief went too far. His parents, unable to control him any longer, made a decision that would change his life forever. Kaeliano was sent across the ocean, to America, to live with his uncle. It was meant as punishment, but also as hope—perhaps distance from his family's shadow would tame his spirit.

At his new elementary school, Kaeliano struggled to adjust. The language, the culture, even the faces around him felt foreign. Yet his boldness soon drew attention. He wasn't afraid to speak up, to fight, to protect—and that was how he met the three boys who would become his brothers in all but blood:

Hiroto Akazami, a Japanese boy with sharp eyes and a quiet demeanor, always watching, always calculating.

Zarek Kaelthorne, a Korean–African American with long hair, a powerful frame, and a fierce reputation, though loyal to the core.

Eryndal Veynor, a native-born American, cheerful and lighthearted, always the mediator when tempers clashed.

Their first meeting wasn't gentle—it was a brawl in the schoolyard. Kaeliano had thrown himself into a fight to protect another kid, and when the odds stacked against him, Hiroto, Zarek, and Eryndal stepped in. From that day forward, they stood together, bound not by circumstance but by choice.

Years passed, and childhood gave way to adolescence. By the time middle school began, their bond had grown unshakable. Yet it was during these years that Kaeliano encountered someone who would alter their fate forever.

Sitting alone on the edge of the field was a boy with tired eyes and bruises on his skin. His name was Raven Elthorne. He was a loner, unwanted, carrying silence like armor. Kaeliano, who remembered well what it felt like to be misunderstood, walked over.

"Come play with us," he said, tossing a ball lightly toward Raven.

Hesitation flickered across Raven's face, but the sincerity in Kaeliano's gaze left no room for doubt. Slowly, Raven stood, and from that day on, Kaeliano introduced him to Hiroto, Zarek, and Eryndal. Together, the five of them began to laugh, fight, dream, and build a bond they believed would last forever.

What they did not know—what none of them could imagine—was that this friendship, born in the innocence of youth, would one day be tested by betrayal, blood, and impossible choices.

" Shadows in the Bloodline"

By the time they entered high school, the bond between Kaeliano, Zarek, Hiroto, Eryndal, and Raven had grown unshakable. They were no longer just boys who played together—they were brothers, bound by loyalty and years of shared scars. But growing older also meant stepping into a world that revealed harsher truths.

One night, a storm hit their circle of friendship. Zarek Kaelthorne, always the strong one with a wild grin, came home carrying a heavy silence. His father—a feared gangster leader—was embroiled in a brutal clash with a rival syndicate. The Kaelthorne household became a fortress overnight: black SUVs lined the streets, men with weapons stood guard, and whispers of war spread through the neighborhood like smoke.

The rumors reached beyond the streets, traveling all the way across the ocean to Italy. Dominic Draxmore, Kaeliano's father, a powerful magnate who still cast a long shadow despite his son living in America, heard of Zarek's family. His response came swiftly in the form of a cold, formal letter delivered through Kaeliano's uncle:

●○● "Kaeliano must distance himself. His friends are born of corruption. A Draxmore does not mingle with the filth of the underworld. If he remains entangled with them, it is not only his name that will be ruined—it is his life that will be endangered."

Kaeliano read the words, his jaw tightening with rage. His father's command was clear: sever ties, preserve the family's legacy. But for Kaeliano, friendship was not a chain to be cut at another man's command—it was the only choice in his life that was truly his own.

That night, under the dim glow of a streetlamp, Kaeliano stood with Hiroto, Zarek, Eryndal, and Raven. His voice trembled with restrained anger as he spoke:

"My father wants me to walk away from you… especially you, Zarek."

Zarek said nothing, his eyes lowered, used to being branded the son of a criminal.

But Kaeliano's voice grew firm, burning with defiance.

"He doesn't know who you really are. I don't care about bloodlines, gangs, or the dirt people say you come from. You're my brothers. And I'd rather lose everything—wealth, comfort, even my family's name—than walk this road alone."

For a moment, silence held them all. Then Zarek's rough hand gripped Kaeliano's shoulder, and the unspoken vow between them grew stronger than ever.

That was the night Kaeliano chose his own path. Not the gilded cage of his lineage, but the dangerous, uncertain road of loyalty. It was the night he realized that friendship was not just about laughter and childhood games—it was about standing together when the world itself tried to pull them apart.

The days of chaos finally passed, and the gang war tied to Zarek's father came to an end. The city returned to its uneasy calm, though the scars it left behind lingered in memory. For the five friends, high school had been more than just teenage years—it was a battlefield of loyalty, family pressure, and the fragile bonds of brotherhood.

Time moved forward, and one by one, each of them began walking their own path.

On a late afternoon, inside a dim training hall, Kaeliano Draxmore threw punch after punch into the heavy bag. Sweat poured down his face, his movements sharp and unrelenting. His eyes carried a fire, the kind born from a dream he refused to let die: becoming an FBI agent.

It was a dream many called impossible. He was once the reckless boy exiled from Italy, burdened by the weight of a powerful family name. But Kaeliano's will was different. He didn't fight for privilege or status—he fought to prove that he could rise above the blood that defined him.

Meanwhile, Zarek Kaelthorne faced his own turning point. He never enrolled in college. Instead, he accepted the destiny carved by his father's empire. Zarek stepped into the underworld, taking the mantle as heir to one of the most feared gangs in the city. The boy who once laughed loudest among them now carried a shadow heavier than any of them could understand.

Hiroto Akazami made a similar choice. He, too, abandoned the idea of university and followed his bloodline into the Yakuza, mentored by his uncle in Japan. His expression grew colder, his silence deeper, his gaze sharper. Though Hiroto rarely spoke of it, his friends knew—the bond of loyalty remained in him, though he was now bound to a world where loyalty itself could be a death sentence.

In contrast, Eryndal Veynor chose a path of healing. He pursued medicine, determined to become a doctor. His gentle heart remained unchanged, his laughter a reminder of their childhood days. Yet behind his kindness lay the quiet courage to save lives, even as his friends wandered into darkness.

And then there was Raven Elthorne. He never continued his studies, never found a steady job. His life seemed adrift, caught in a silence none of them could truly reach. He was present, always around, yet distant—his eyes hiding something heavier than words. The others never saw it, but the weight Raven carried was already steering him toward a fate that would one day tear them apart.

Though their futures pulled them in different directions, they still met often—five young men bound by a brotherhood that began on schoolyards and backstreets. They laughed, they argued, they swore they'd never let anything divide them.

But deep down, Kaeliano felt it. A faint whisper in his chest, a warning he could not ignore:

This friendship, this brotherhood… one day, it would be tested by blood, betrayal, and choices that could not be undone.
