Meanwhile, in the Holy Land of Mary Geoise, in the Chamber of Authority, five old men, each with different hair colors, beards, and scars, but all exuding an unfathomable aura, were sitting around a huge round table. The atmosphere was so heavy you could squeeze water out of it. In front of them were the freshly printed bounty posters.
"Four billion... Rocks D. Xebec..." the bald old man holding the Shodai Kitetsu said, his voice hoarse, his eyes filled with undisguised killing intent. "Even the combined forces of Sengoku and Garp were so thoroughly defeated. This is no longer a simple pirate. This is a disaster that can shake the foundations of the world."
The old man with the long white beard sighed. "According to the report from Sengoku, their defeat was not due to a lack of strength, but to a key variable—that chef named Ren."
"A chef?" another golden-haired old man frowned. "The report says that with just one meal, he restored the entire exhausted Rocks Pirates crew to their peak condition, and even stronger. This is simply absurd!"
"But the facts are right before us," the old man holding a sword said in a low voice. "Sengoku would not lie about such a thing. And, that damned 'D' has appeared in Rocks's name again!"
"The Will of D. is stirring up trouble once more?"
"This storm must be nipped in the bud! Immediately give the order, summon CP0, and at all costs, eliminate the Rocks Pirates!"
Just as the five were deliberating, a huge door in the deepest shadows of the room opened silently. A thin and tall figure slowly walked out. Seeing this figure, the five old men who held the world's power all stopped their discussion, stood up in unison, and respectfully knelt on one knee. "Lord Imu."
The figure called Imu did not speak, but walked to the round table with silent steps. They extended a pale and slender finger and accurately pulled out Rocks's bounty poster from the pile. They stared quietly at the arrogant smile in the photo, no emotion in their eyes, yet the temperature of the entire Chamber of Authority seemed to drop to a freezing point. After a long time, Imu turned and walked toward the empty throne that symbolized the King of the World in the depths of the room.
In front of the throne, they stopped, and then slowly raised the bounty poster in their hand. Swish. A sword, stained with the traces of time, appeared from the shadows and accurately pierced through the eye of Rocks on the bounty poster. After doing this, Imu's figure once again merged into the darkness, as if they had never appeared.
The Five Elders slowly stood up. They looked at the bounty poster pinned in the air, cold sweat beading on their foreheads. They knew Lord Imu had been moved to true killing intent. This man named Rocks had been placed on the highest-level kill list of the World Government.
The world's tremors did not affect the daily life of the monsters on the Azure Dragon. To them, the soaring bounties were just after-dinner chatter, a medal to prove their strength, far less important than what Ren was making for the next meal.
"Wahahaha! Five hundred million Beli! I'm a big shot now!" Gatz held his bounty poster and ran around the deck, showing it off to everyone he met. He even began to seriously consider which island to buy a mountain of meat on with this huge sum.
"Two hundred million... The World Government is too stingy. The repair costs for my ship are more than this," Dolum sighed at his bounty poster. He had already listed a repair list dozens of pages long, and every part on it was expensive.
Linlin had no concept of money. She only knew that she seemed to be worth more now, so she righteously pre-ordered all the desserts for the next month from Ren, with a different kind every day, from Lava Chocolate Volcano Cake to Deep Sea Pearl Mousse. Ren just nodded calmly and silently wrote in his small notebook: "Charlotte Linlin, symptoms of high-calorie sweet dependency syndrome are worsening. Need to develop a new low-sugar, high-energy substitute to prevent structural obesity of the ship's hull."
Rocks and Newgate were still the most leisurely two. They each held a barrel of wine and sat at the bow, discussing which unsuspecting Marine base to "borrow" some better-aged rum from next.
The repair work on the Azure Dragon was proceeding in an orderly manner under Dolum's blood and tears and Ren's precise logistical allocation. The spare alloy plates, high-strength ropes, and even spare energy conduits seized from the Marine fleet were all sorted and categorized. Like the most precise puzzle, they were fitted into the wounds of the Azure Dragon one by one by Dolum and his few forcibly recruited shipwright apprentices.
This repair work lasted for a full three days. During these three days, the monsters on the ship were uncharacteristically well-behaved. Perhaps seeing Dolum's haggard appearance, as if he could die from overwork at any moment, even the most mischievous Gatz just quietly did strength training in a corner of the deck, for fear that the sound of his stomping would add another crack to the ship's bottom.
Linlin was completely captivated by the dessert bombardment that Ren had created with the captured top-tier flour and rare fruits. She sat happily at the stern every day with a cake bigger than her head. Even Zeus and Prometheus above her head became docile. One would create small rainbows, the other would provide a weak flame for roasting marshmallows. They looked like two harmless pets.
The two most leisurely guys, Rocks and Newgate, had moved the captured Marine admiral's lounge chairs to the deck. They each had a glass of Ren's special iced fruit wine and were discussing some topics that ordinary people could not understand.
"Gurararara... Four billion. That number sounds much better," Newgate said, swirling the liquid in his glass, the ice cubes clinking.
"This is just the beginning," Rocks's gaze pierced through the blue sea, looking into the distant unknown. "When we trample Mary Geoise, we'll have to add another zero to the end of that number."
"Before that, we need to have a ship that can get to Mary Geoise first," Newgate glanced at Dolum, who was listening to the helm with a stethoscope not far away, and chuckled. "I feel like Dolum's mental state is even more fragile than this ship's keel."
"That's why you need a good chef," a meaningful smile appeared on the corner of Rocks's lips. "A chef who can make everyone full and happy." He knew that Ren's existence was not just about providing logistical support. This little Head Chef was using his divine culinary skills to unite this group of unruly monsters in the most peculiar, yet also the most solid way.
