"Tendo-sensei, you..."
Looking into Tendo's eyes, Shinobu found herself speechless. Or perhaps she simply didn't know what to say. Her emotions were too complex right now.
Beyond hatred, there was another feeling—like a dying seed finally receiving nourishing rain. Though she didn't yet understand this emotion.
"Tendo-sensei, why would you go this far for us?"
Unlike her sister, Kanae Kocho felt more gratitude than confusion. After all, she had dreamed of avenging their parents' deaths.
"I'm just someone who likes meddling in others' business. Now do what you need to do!"
As a transmigrator, Tendo's feelings were the most complicated of all. He knew how the story would unfold, understood what these people were thinking, and recognized their regrets.
Perhaps making up for these regrets was his purpose in coming to this world.
The path to redemption lay within.
Shinobu took the still-dripping Nichirin Blade. Her hands trembled as the pungent scent of blood flooded her nose, making her cough violently.
But then a warm hand enveloped hers—Kanae's. The elder sister's maternal presence steadied her.
"Shinobu, let's take our revenge!"
"Yes!"
The Kocho sisters' eyes hardened with determination as they walked hand in hand toward the mutilated skeleton Demon. Finally, they wouldn't have to keep their rage locked inside any longer.
"To slay a Demon, you must sever its head!" Tendo reminded them.
Standing before the Demon that killed their parents, scenes from that rainy night two years ago flashed before Shinobu's eyes. Tears streamed down uncontrollably.
...
The endless rain fell as the gloomy sky seemed ready to collapse.
Before the skeleton Demon stood a bloodied man, behind him the ruins of a civilian home.
The man clutched a bloodstained kitchen knife, his eyes filled with resolve and defiance. His body trembled slightly, each breath labored as if he might collapse at any moment.
Even when his life force had dwindled to nearly imperceptible levels, he stubbornly remained standing.
A closer look revealed over a dozen gaping wounds across his body, fresh blood still pouring from them.
"Interesting. If you can withstand one more hit without falling, I might spare them!"
"Monster, bring it on!"The man laughed while coughing up blood, his peripheral vision catching sight of his wife and daughter already fleeing into the distance. As long as they escaped, whether he lived or died no longer mattered.
All he wanted was for them to survive.
The next second, a spine whip flew past the man's ear, slicing it clean off.
At the same time, a hand blade pierced straight through his heart.
In the distance, Shinobu Kocho, hiding in her mother's embrace, witnessed this scene. She had nearly cried herself hoarse.
A mother's instinct kicked in—the woman shoved Kanae away while pushing Shinobu into her arms.
"Eldest, Second, live on!"
"Run!"
The spine whip impaled the woman's chest, warm blood splattering across Shinobu's face. In an instant, her mind went blank.
The white-boned Demon sneered mockingly, "Seems like you're about to fall. Your wife and daughter are doomed!"
But the man could no longer hear its taunts. He had stopped breathing, yet his arms remained locked tightly around the Demon's limbs, his nails digging deep into its flesh.
"Damn it!"
The Demon's face twisted in disgust as it swung its fist with brutal force.
The sheer impact shattered the man's body, reducing half of it to a pool of blood that splattered across the ground.
Watching this, the Demon's eyes flickered with disdain and indifference.
By the time it snapped back to attention, the Kocho sisters had vanished—they had escaped, carrying their parents' final hope.
It leisurely strode forward when suddenly, the arms of the sisters' mother wrapped around its legs—a mother's last act of defiance.
The rain grew heavier, as if drowning the world itself. The sounds of tearing flesh and chewing mingled with the downpour.
A curtain of blood washed over what was once a happy family of four.
Soon, the thick rain swallowed the entire world.
Yet, a single blade severed the rain—and with it, the past.
Kanae Kocho stood behind her younger sister, her hands clasped over Shinobu's, who gripped the bloodstained sword.
The white-boned Demon was beheaded, its remnants dissipating. Its gaze lingered not on the sisters who had slain it, but on a figure standing not far away.
Tendo Kazama stood there.
With vengeance fulfilled, the knots in their hearts would slowly unravel.
The Kocho sisters collapsed to the ground, the sword clattering beside them.
"Dad… Mom… We've avenged you!"
In the silent night, a bright full moon hung in the sky, casting a gentle glow.
The sisters clung to each other tightly, tears bursting forth like a broken dam, releasing years of pent-up grief and rage.
Their bodies trembled slightly, their sobs intertwining, echoing across the wilderness.
Shinobu choked out between sobs, "Sis… ter… We… finally got our revenge!"
Kanae suppressed her own cries, gently stroking Shinobu's hair as she whispered comfortingly, "Shinobu… We've done it… From now on, smile more… Live on, for Mom and Dad's sake!"
"Mm!"
"Let's live on… together!"
As time passed, their weeping gradually subsided, replaced by a sense of release and peace.
Obanai watched the scene quietly, never expecting these sisters to be victims of a Demon.
Demons truly deserved to die!
His gaze then shifted to Tendo, thinking to himself, This guy did it on purpose. Why do I feel like he knew something all along?Young master, there's more to this chapter. Please click on the next page to continue reading. It gets even more exciting later!
Facing Obanai's scrutinizing gaze, Tendo turned his head away and whistled nonchalantly.
Damn it!
Obanai, that bastard, isn't actually lusting after my body, is he?
Could it be that because I messed with the storyline, his orientation got screwed up?
No way, no way!
Obanai: "???"
Having calmed down, Shinobu Kocho picked up the sword and personally handed it to Tendo. For the fourth time, she smiled at someone other than her sister.
"Tendo, thank you. You're such a good person, the best in the world!"
Hooray!
Tendo jumped for joy because Shinobu had finally called him by his name.
And just like that, this guy had already thought up names for their future children.
Shinobu Kocho: "???"
Kanae: "???"
Obanai: "You're insane!"
Kanae took Shinobu's hand and bowed deeply. Their vengeance was fulfilled all thanks to Tendo-sensei.
"Tendo, thank you!"
As she spoke, she was about to pull Shinobu down to kneel, but Tendo stopped them just in time.
"Don't do that! I told you, it's really no trouble at all!"
After thanking Tendo, the Kocho sisters also expressed their gratitude to Obanai, since he had helped too.
This sudden gesture caught Obanai off guard—he hadn't really done anything.
"I didn't do much, so no need for thanks!"
"By the way, what are your plans now? Your house is destroyed."
"Like you, I've suffered at the hands of Demons. I joined the Demon Slayer Corps."
"I plan to wipe out every last one of those things!"
"Would you be interested in joining us?"
Obanai never forgot Tendo's initial goal—to take these sisters with him, especially that tiny, skinny one. So he decided to bring it up himself.
