Chapter 28 - Chapter 12: Who Said We Had a Deal

Aside from the last few, the six attributes seem fairly intuitive in real life.

If we want to grasp a rough understanding: power is probably strength, muscle intensity, stuff like that; agility might involve nerve reaction speed and burst power, as for constitution... it's probably about stamina, endurance, immunity, and things like summarizing their durability?

Since there aren't extra annotations explaining which domain they correspond to and what aspects they affect, I can only explore them myself, though the literal meanings aren't hard to grasp.

Gu Mo eventually felt that testing "power" and "agility" would be more straightforward and intuitive, because "constitution" could influence many factors, and those he could think of like physical strength, immunity, and defense generally lean towards passive attributes...

So, wanting a direct comparison for this attribute to confirm the changes before and after adding points would be somewhat troublesome.

— That's what he thought, and he ultimately chose to test power, because it's the quickest and simplest. If you want to be professional, just go to a gym and have someone help test the maximum weight, or even at home, you can set up conditions easily.

After making the decision, Gu Mo acted decisively; after rinsing his mouth, he turned and left the restroom, heading straight to another room.

He had also bought some fitness equipment earlier, so when at home, he could exercise a bit. The frequency wasn't high, but now at least they came in handy.

...

Ten minutes later.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah! I'm telling you, I've been working out lately..."

Gu Mo sat on the sofa, talking on the phone and nodding repeatedly, speaking to the person on the other end.

"Wow! Isn't this about sending you guys a photo? What? Which gym's effect is so good? Um... actually, I just practice randomly on my own, really can't introduce you to anything, and there's no trick to it, just perseverance. I've started to see results by sheer effort..."

Spinning tales wildly, glorifying his recently posted WeChat moments as the fruits of his effort and perseverance. After finally ending the call, Gu Mo put down his phone and let out a breath.

It's a bit troublesome, but it's manageable to muddle through.

After all, sometimes a more reclusive lifestyle isn't without benefits. At least, familiar friends and acquaintances haven't seen you for a while. It's precisely this period of absence that lets you spin any narrative you want.

As long as it's not too outrageous, it's fine.

Just like right now.

A seriously-faced Gu Mo picked up his phone again, opened WeChat moments, glanced, and in just a few minutes, several new comments appeared. The red dot notification beckoned him to click.

— "Wow! How come we never noticed you're so cool before..."

— "We agreed to get fat together, but you secretly lost weight! Is this photoshopped?"

— "Nonsense! Everyone knows videos can't be photoshopped, so it must be real! (dog head emoji)"

Yeah, the style of the comments is basically like that, and those are the relatively normal comments. There are some less typical ones too.

— "More! Not exciting enough!"

— "Send to my email ××××××××@qq.com, thanks, a good person stays flat-chested for life."

— "Senior, your muscles are awesome. If you're interested, please contact me soon, junior here."

Although they're mostly joking, given the ever-changing nature of social media, but jokes never go out of style. Even so, it still made Gu Mo feel awkward, with a face like a subway elder holding his phone.

He really didn't know that there were so many hidden talents like Crouching Tigers and Hidden Dragons in his friend circle; they aren't necessarily proper normally, but online they're completely letting loose.

And it's already after midnight, yet they're all still awake, even able to like and comment right when the post goes up… are they all in the Nascent Soul Stage?

Though, all of this stemmed from the new dynamic video Gu Mo posted.

It was a very short selfie video, only a few seconds, with simple content — just him in a tank top, casually showing off his body's muscle lines... Of course, it wasn't intended as a show-off. The sudden, uncharacteristic post was just a further confirmation.

Previously, his build was relatively standard, neither fat nor thin. But now in the video, there was a noticeable change.

Although it still couldn't be described as robust or strong, it indeed rid all excess fat and started to display more pronounced muscle lines, suggesting that he wasn't a fitness guru, but it did look like he had been exercising steadily for some time, with initial results.

Just like he said on the phone earlier, it was all thanks to his hard work—

After all, he spent several minutes thinking and eventually deciding to add points to his power attribute.

Taking a few deep breaths, adjusting his rhythm, looking at the short video in his dynamic, Gu Mo's mood wasn't as calm as he had shown on the call.
