Silas Shaw chatted with Serena Sutton for a moment, then found an excuse to sneak off to the bathroom to call Caleb Lockwood.
He dialed Caleb's number, but no one answered. Silas sighed, why was he dropping the ball at a critical moment? The girl came all this way to the social gathering just for him; if she couldn't see him, she might end up in tears.
Silas called two more times, but still, no one answered. He thought for a moment, leaned against the wall opposite the sink, and sent Caleb a text message.
At this moment, two young men came out of the restroom, one wearing a suit and sporting slicked-back hair. While washing his hands, he said to his companion, "I just met a girl named Zanna Vance from the hospital's pathology department, she's quite pretty."
The person next to him looked at him with disdain, "Don't you have a girlfriend? Why are you getting so close to a single woman?"
