The handsome and noble man silently lowered his head, reaching out to gently brush his wife's hair in his arms.
"Well, I guess you could say we know each other."
A trace of distraction appeared in Adrian Law's eyes, and then a faint sigh escaped his lips.
"Dashiell Zane and I were high school classmates, and we even met once at a national math competition."
But we never spoke.
If Adrian Law was the most talked-about figure at school,
then Dashiell Zane, despite his excellent grades and decent looks, was in a noble school where he couldn't even afford a uniform, only picking the cheapest buns and plain rice in the cafeteria. His father's early passing left him insecure and sensitive.
Though in the prime of his youth, he was crushed by burdens, unable to hold his head up high, and even later when he rose smoothly through the ranks, his way of handling things never showed forthrightness.
