Crystal Langley nodded proudly, "Of course! Young Master Thorne comes from a family of diplomats."
Laura Quincy understood, "I see!"
The two gossiped for a while, and then Crystal returned to her seat, suddenly realizing she hadn't managed to extract any useful information from Laura's mouth.
In the break room, Laura made herself a cup of instant coffee. Violet Whitman happened to walk in, and upon seeing her, smiled and nodded as a greeting.
After a few minutes of silence, Violet shyly spoke up, "I'm sorry! You just happened to hear us talking about you when you came in. The three of us didn't mean anything by it, really."
Her apology brought a slight warmth to Laura's heart, and she curved her lips into a smile, "It's fine."
In the workplace, there are no eternal enemies or friends. Since she was new, she couldn't afford to make enemies.
