Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Apologize to Her

Maeve Lane originally didn't want to visit Sylvia Lane in the hospital, but Sarah Sutton kept calling her incessantly.

Sarah had deliberately found a secluded place to make the call, and the more she talked, the angrier she became. "You have no idea how pretentious Sylvia Lane is. The doctor just said it's a minor fracture, just aligning the bone will fix it, but she insisted on being hospitalized. I don't think she'll let this go easily."

Maeve gave a simple "hmm" to show she was listening.

Sarah had a love-hate relationship with Maeve's personality.

Maeve always acted with clear likes and dislikes, following her heart, and carried an inexplicable air of arrogance that didn't seem to match her ordinary family background when she first signed the contract.

"You should make a trip to the hospital. Even if you don't like Sylvia Lane, you still need to keep up appearances. If not, your career could end before it even begins. How else are you going to make money?"

After waiting for a while, Sarah predictably got Maeve's response—

"Send me the address."

She breathed a sigh of relief, "Alright, come quickly. Otherwise, have you seen how they're cursing you online? Maybe you can still salvage this."

Maeve replied nonchalantly, ending the call.

Sarah looked at the ended call, unable to help but comment, "She appears to have no desires, yet when it comes to making money, she goes all out. What exactly is her family situation?"

She knew Maeve's mother was ill, with the entire family burden falling on Maeve. Sarah once considered lending Maeve money, but Maeve refused.

Maeve was indeed short of money, but a little cash wouldn't solve her problems at all.

She owed Julian Fairchild two billion.

Maeve took a cab to the city hospital.

She walked to the VIP passage and turned, meeting a pair of deep eyes.

Julian Fairchild was actually there waiting.

It was hard for Maeve to ignore him, so she pretended not to know him and averted her gaze.

After walking a few steps, she saw a bunch of media blocking the entrance, trying to get in for an interview.

Seeing this, Sarah felt overwhelmed. If these people got in, with Sylvia Lane's personality, who knows what she would say. That would probably ruin Maeve for life!

Looking up, she saw Maeve and finally felt a little relieved, "Hurry over!"

Maeve walked over while feeling Julian's probing gaze.

"Finally, you're here. Sylvia Lane is inside. When you go in, please hold your temper and don't confront her. Apologize and get her to forgive you, okay?"

Sarah held Maeve's hand, advising her.

Maeve raised an eyebrow, "I won't apologize to her."

"Sutton, come quickly, these reporters are too persistent, I can't hold them off anymore!"

Sarah was anxious like a cat on hot bricks and shouted behind her, "Coming, coming, send more security over, we can't let anyone sneak in here!"

"Why won't you apologize to her? We were the ones who hit first, we have no defense. Besides, Sylvia Lane's star power is way above yours. Maeve, I'm only saying this as a friend, just swallow your pride for now, okay?"

Maeve wasn't rushed at all and even patted Sarah's shoulder, "Don't worry, I'll be fine."

Sarah couldn't help but roll her eyes at Maeve, "I don't believe you at all!"

From Sylvia Lane's fan's perspective, Maeve would appear to them as—

I just don't like Sylvia Lane, I hit her on purpose and I don't want to apologize, what can you do about it?

Sarah felt like she could already see Maeve's career ending before it even started.

While the two were talking, Maeve's assistant, Ashley Sloane, suddenly shouted, "Sutton, Maeve! Someone broke in!!"
