This means their profit per catty of salt is roughly five cents. Don't underestimate this number; when the base is large, the profit grows significantly.
Once Tang Family Village obtains the right to sell private salt, they can openly sell private salt. After accounting for tributes to the Salt Transport Bureau, the Transport Commissioner, and bribes to local officials, the remaining profit will be more than ten times the current annual income of Tang Family Village.
