Chapter 2 - Mundus Novus

---

She was bright... Brimming like a star... No, like a sun...

I awoke...

and saw... a woman? She was holding me with tears in her eyes. She didn't look like Mother, though her touch felt like one for sure.

"Luxa, caris bellum," the woman said, looking towards a man who then grabbed me.

"Luminis, caris bellum" he said with tears in his own eyes.

For some reason, his touch felt oddly calming, like the woman's was. But then it hit me...

I saw the mirror that was in the room, and everything changed.

Fat chubby flesh...

Big round purpleish black eyes...

A small tufts of hair....

A body.... A body that wasn't mine...

I was in shock... This can't be it right?

For some unknown and strange reason, I was a baby? No... I couldn't be

I didn't get it, I couldn't get it but I felt sick so so so sick and I had the urge to cry to throw up—

"Waaah, waaah."

Was this me? Am I crying? Wailing?

Everything was spinning... I couldn't take it... And then everything went dark... Again.

---

Everything is overwhelming.

---

It's been 6 months now. I can hardly believe I was in a different world.

My life changed that day when I saw that damn annoying purple orb, but since then I've had time to think about what I'm even going to do in this life.

After the first week or so, I accepted this life as it was, and I've decided I don't care what kind of life is ahead of me.

My family here seems to be well off enough since we have butlers and maids, so I know I'll be able to live a comfortable life, I think.

I'm trying to understand the language by reading some of the books in the bottom row of the library. But honestly, it's been an easy 6 months if you don't count the whole me-being-a-baby thing.

---

I have also learned something very special in this world.

After seeing the maids in the kitchen while I was crawling around, one of them said, "Ignis Parvus, Adesto" and next thing I knew, there was fire under the stove.

I guess I should've expected magic to be in this world, even though none of the books at the bottom row of the house's library seemed to say or mention anything to do with magic. They only talked about the language of this world.

---

10 months in now.

I can finally walk, and I've got the language of this strange place down now. There are 32 letters in this language and all of them seem to be similar to English.

I'm able to speak a little, but I try not to speak full sentences around my parents and the maids. It would probably scare them, and I don't want to deal with that.

---

I have also learned more about what magic is.

It's about what you would expect in another world: attack, defense, support, and daily.

There are 3 main rules when using magic.

First, you must think about the spell you are using.

Second, think of the shape.

Third, account for other variables.

If it's attack type: think of the shape and speed.

If it's defense: think of how wide, what shape, and how many layers.

If it's support: it's probably healing, which means think of what place to heal.

And finally, fourth: if it's daily-type magic, you don't really need to think much because there are items to help with it. You also don't need aptitude to use daily type.

That is about what the books I could find about magic say.

Though I'm skeptical this world's magic is way too game like something's up, and I think these books might be outdated there's a couple pages at the end of one book that i can't really make out it says something to do with emotions though?

Why would magic have something to do with emotions i thought... I should try the aptitude test to see if I could use magic.

I'll recite what the book says:

"Occulis Arcanum Aperta"

A bright light enveloped me, and I felt warm bubbles crash into me? Was I in water? Was I in the sky?

I couldn't tell, and then... silence.

Darkness.

I opened my eyes, and everything was normal.

It was then someone picked me up...

---

"Oh, little Solin, why do you always spend your time in the library reading? Spend more time with Mommy~"

Ugh... this annoying woman's name is Liora von Nacht, and my name is Solan von Nacht.

To play it safe, I should just snuggle up to her and say:

"Mama, it's fun here."

That would probably help me.

"Oh, alright... but allow me to stay with you and read for you here, my little Solin."

This woman's getting on my nerves. Can she get more annoying? Whatever... I don't care. Let her do what she wants.

"Okay, Mama."

"Awhhh, you're so adorable." She rubbed her cheek on mine.

"Which book shall I read for you?"

"That one." I pointed at one that looked like a kid's picture book.

"The story of Sorey the Hero Knight is a great one — such a good choice, Solin!"

Damn, she talks a lot. Just read already.

"Ahem... Sorey the Hero Knight. There was once a hero named Sorey. He was a hero who was summoned from the heavens by the king of a nation called Ratosk—do you know Ratosk, my dear little Solin?"

Pretty sure I remember this one.

"Is it where we live?" I answered.

"Yes! It is. Great job. Now then, back to the story. Ahem. Sorey was summoned to save this world and country from the evil demons that were north from Ratosk—"

"That seems to be enough for now. Look at the time, Solin, it's nap time."

"Okay, Mama."

I guess I should go to sleep now to seem like a normal baby.

I laid down to nap and before i knew it i was drifting off to sleep like a baby...
