Chapter 93 - Chapter 93: Crazy Fall, Battle In The Air

Boom, boom.

Tens of thousands of meters above the Earth, two enormous fireballs blazed wildly. One large, one small, they streaked across the sky like a deadly chase. These were no ordinary fireballs—the larger was the fallen city of Sokovia, crashing toward Earth, and the smaller was the Avengers' spaceship in pursuit.

"Crazy. Everyone's crazy. At this speed, even if the enemy doesn't destroy us, we'll destroy the Earth ourselves!"

Inside the spaceship, War Machine—Colonel James Rhodes—gripped the armrests tightly, cursing as he felt the ship tremble violently from the descent.

"Hey, Rhodey, if I were you, I'd save my breath for the fight that's coming," Tony Stark quipped, stepping away from the pilot's seat with his usual smirk. His eyes held not a trace of panic, just as calm as when he once carried a nuclear bomb into the wormhole during the Battle of New York.

"Tony, how sure are you that you can actually stop Sokovia?" Steve Rogers asked, his face pale. Sitting in a spaceship brought back grim memories of his plane crash during World War II.

"Zero. In fact, at this speed, if we don't try something drastic, we won't even keep up with that rock."

Tony raised his hand, projecting a hologram into the air. The simulation showed Sokovia and the spaceship, like a child and an adult running side by side—except the child was moving far faster.

"According to the calculations, Sokovia will impact New York City in two minutes. When it hits, the destruction will rival the extinction-level events of the Jurassic period."

The hologram showed the catastrophic collision: the American continent obliterated in an instant, shockwaves tearing the world apart, humanity extinguished, and a choking dust cloud blotting out the sun.

"Damn it… Veronica, is there any way for me to return to the future?" Rhodey asked grimly, turning toward the ship's AI.

"Colonel Rhodes," Veronica's emotionless voice replied, "the quantum machine has been destroyed, and your battle suit no longer carries the time coordinates for 2023. Unfortunately, you cannot return."

Rhodey's expression darkened. "Great. I'm starting to miss J.A.R.V.I.S." He muttered under his breath before sliding on his mask. As a soldier, he had already steeled himself for battle.

"Sir, approaching stratosphere," Veronica announced.

Tony's visor snapped shut. "Once we hit stable altitude, we'll need to jump onto Sokovia and try to slow its fall."

The hatch opened. Without hesitation, Tony leapt first.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.

Captain America, Falcon, and Thor followed, diving toward the plummeting city.

"The Ultron Legion—attack."

In his base within Sokovia, Ultron had already predicted Stark's move. The moment he detected the Avengers in freefall, he deployed his forces.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.

Hundreds of Ultron drones burst from the city's ruins, shields raised, weapons primed.

Boom, boom, boom.

Missiles streaked upward, detonating around the Avengers and engulfing them in fire.

"I'm not here to be target practice."

Iron Man blasted through the smoke, firing a crimson energy beam that ripped through a dozen drones at once.

Clang, clang, clang!

The Avengers counterattacked. Rogers, clad in his steel-reinforced armor, hurled his Vibranium shield with impossible precision, cutting down drones one after another.

Thor summoned storms of lightning, each strike of Mjolnir shattering squads of enemies. Falcon weaved through the air, slicing with his steel wings.

"Ultron Guards—eliminate them!"

Ultron's scarlet eyes glowed with fury as he unleashed his elite forces: towering four-meter-tall robots reinforced with Vibranium particles. Their armor was nearly impenetrable, and their weapon systems turned them into engines of destruction.

A single barrage forced Tony to veer off course, pursued relentlessly by homing missiles. Just as one closed in, a Vibranium shield intercepted it, saving him.

Three massive Ultron sentries loomed overhead, eyes blazing red as they activated their full arsenal, unleashing another salvo.

"F***k—I've never lost a weapons contest."

War Machine's Gatling cannon roared to life, spitting thousands of rounds and intercepting the missiles midair. Explosions lit up the sky above panicked New Yorkers below.

"NYPD, help! Aliens are attacking again!"

"God, New York is doomed!"

"Why is it always New York?!"

Chaos spread through the city as people screamed, cursed, and flooded the police with calls.

From orbit, Veronica observed the destruction. Tony saw it too, but now wasn't the time to care.

"Veronica, overload the Arc Reactor."

At his command, the reactor on his chest flared like a miniature sun, pouring raw energy into his suit.

Boom.

He struck Sokovia's surface like a meteor, the ground shattering beneath him.

"Sir," Veronica warned, "three minutes until the overloaded Arc Reactor detonates."
