Part Two: A Conversation Begins
Nick sat down across from Annarosé, the corner of his lips tugging into a small smile. He was used to people staring at him—some out of admiration, others out of jealousy—but this girl barely reacted. That, somehow, made him more curious.
"You read a lot?" he asked, glancing at the stack of books beside her.
Annarosé closed her diary slowly, her fingers brushing the pages as if protecting her thoughts. "I like reading," she replied softly, her voice calm yet polite. "Books don't judge you."
Her answer caught Nick off guard. Most people he knew cared about parties, brands, or the latest trends—not about books and diaries. He leaned forward, intrigued. "That's… different. I'm Nick, by the way."
"I know," Annarosé said, her eyes meeting his for the first time. There was no nervousness, no excitement, just simple honesty. "Everyone's been talking about you since this morning."
Nick chuckled lightly. "Figures. My last name travels faster than I do."
There was a pause, not awkward but thoughtful. He noticed how her hair fell slightly into her face, how she tucked it back gently behind her ear while returning to her notes.
"So," he tried again, "what's your name?"
"Annarosé," she answered. Her tone was steady, yet there was a quiet elegance in the way she said it.
Nick repeated it under his breath, as if testing how it sounded. "Annarosé… that's beautiful."
For the first time, a faint blush colored her cheeks. She quickly looked down at her diary, pretending to be busy.
Neither of them realized it yet, but that short library conversation was the beginning of something neither wealth nor simplicity could control—an invisible thread tying their worlds together.
