Chapter 3 - Blood Glutton – The Red Tang Blade

The stairwell behind Li Yun was marked Level 5. One flight down meant Level 4.

The office building wasn't large. From the landing, Li Yun could already see into the left-hand corridor and its offices.

"The main supply point's in the manager's office? Looks like someone was skimming a lot."

He glanced back. The girl hesitated, then nodded.

"Yes… there are smaller stashes outside, but the best one is in there."

Li Yun didn't force her to follow. He studied the scene ahead. The lobby was splattered with blood, body parts scattered across the tiles. Three offices stood beyond it.

Then his eyes caught something in the corner—two stained work bags faintly glowing.

[Supply point discovered. Searching…]

Obtained: Magic Card (Green)

Obtained: Smoke Mine (Green)

The Magic Card could grant a random temporary buff. The Smoke Mine created a five-meter cloud that blinded friend and foe alike.

Li Yun pocketed them with little interest. "Ordinary stashes… low yield."

Now only the three offices remained. Somewhere inside lay the red-quality supply point.

Through a window, he saw zombies—five or six aimlessly shuffling office workers. No glow. Moving on, he finally spotted it in the innermost room: a large mountaineering pack radiating red light.

But he wasn't alone. Three zombies wandered the room… and above them, half a body dangled grotesquely from the ceiling fan. Its entrails tangled in the blades, its crimson eyes fixed hungrily on the glowing pack.

Li Yun narrowed his eyes. "So that's the guard."

He raised his silenced pistol. Three quiet shots burst the monster's skull. A purple loot box appeared as the body dropped.

The remaining zombies stirred, knocking over desks in confusion. Li Yun ducked, memorized their positions, then rose again. Three more shots—three clean headshots. Silence returned.

Only when he was sure no more threats lurked did he break the glass and slip inside. Carefully, he approached the glowing mountaineering pack.

[Searching supply point…]

Five long minutes passed. Finally:

[Congratulations! Obtained Red-Quality Weapon: Life-Devouring Tang Blade – Blood Glutton]

Blood Glutton: Restores stamina and permanently boosts constitution with every kill.

Armor Breaker: 15% chance to bypass defenses.

Recall: Can be summoned back within 1500 meters.

Weapon Value: 3.5 million Resource Coins

A blood-red Tang blade materialized, its edge shimmering with cold light, its scabbard carved with the ferocious visage of a gluttonous beast. Li Yun gripped it and swung lightly—its roar split the air, chilling to the bone.

"Good blade."

He sheathed it with satisfaction.

From the fallen zombies, he also collected two potions, a green trinket, and from the ceiling monster—a blue-quality automatic rifle with spare magazines. Now armed with pistol, rifle, and the blood blade, Li Yun almost felt like he was back on the battlefield.

"This game suits me."

Using his unique talent, he plundered the half-zombie's essence:

[Talent Acquired: E-grade – Auditory Perception]Enhanced hearing, able to catch faint sounds.

"Not bad."

Leaving the office, Li Yun found his two companions waiting—Jin Dabao, the nervous chubby man, and the quiet girl. Their eyes widened at the sight of the blood-red blade.

"Boss… is that the red loot?" Jin Dabao asked, envious.

Li Yun ignored the question. He turned to the girl instead.

"On the right—how many zombies? Any supply points?""Twenty-seven. No high-quality ones."

Li Yun weighed it. He could fight them all with his new blade, but it wasn't worth the stamina or time. The mission was survival within 48 hours. Efficiency mattered more than glory.

He turned toward the stairs.

"We're going down."

The girl introduced herself softly: "Su Zhiyi. And you?"

"Li Yun.""Boss, I'm Jin Dabao!" the fat man added quickly.

Su Zhiyi closed her eyes, activating her radar ability.

"Upstairs is empty. Downstairs—six supply points, twenty-one hostile targets. Nothing further.""That's enough. Keep scanning." Li Yun nodded.

They moved as a unit toward the stairwell. Suddenly, Li Yun froze, raising a hand.

[Auditory Perception activated.]

His eyes narrowed.

"Wait. There are people moving downstairs. Living people."
