Chapter 9 Part 1: Murder and Scandal Erupt

Kaklik was indeed murdered, and died a miserable death.

At the time, Ling'er and Xin'er, the two sisters, were walking home with Kaklik sandwiched between them after eating out. Suddenly, at the entrance of a surveillance blind alley, three men burst out. Their roles were clear: one beheaded, one disemboweled, one separated the sisters.

It took less than three seconds Kaklik was gutted and decapitated, his torso and head severed from each other. The attackers vanished swiftly, and not even Xin'er, a former SWAT officer, could catch a single one.

Just the day before, Xin'er had processed the marriage license with Kaklik and in a blink, she became a widow!

Devastated and furious, Xin'er managed to call in favors thanks to her police background. Quickly, the suspects were narrowed down to several Japanese working in a visiting factory.

Naturally, the African embassy in China came demanding answers, threatening to sue Qi-Gu Group in court.

Reporters arrived in droves, churning up sensational stories. Sino-Japanese relations were already tense; the national leadership was still pushing trade with Japan, and the official in charge in the south was none other than Provincial Governor Leng Nai Xiang my "cold mom."

Leng Niang and my mother together pulled strings to settle the press and the ambassador before things exploded.

Before trial, Leng Niang secured a closed internal hearing. Besides both parties' representatives, people directly linked to the case were also invited.

Naturally, our family was included.

"Zhennan, I told you not to come… My Anata will take care of everything." Mom wore a formal black dress today, accentuating her mature, proud curves. Her hair in a high bun signaled her rigor, and the sharp gaze behind her gold-rimmed glasses radiated authority and wisdom. The tight pencil skirt, hugging her round hips, barely covered ten centimeters below her thick bottom. She also wore sheer black stockings, smooth and springy. Just sitting there, she exuded allure, sexiness, maturity, aristocratic pride, aloof and undauntable.

Dad, knowing the family business was now being sued by foreigners, insisted on coming. Though he'd improved, his face was tense and anxious. His cloudy eyes stayed on mom, hoarsely saying, "I trust you, but I don't trust that Japanese devil…cough… My health doesn't matter, I've got Xiao Tian don't worry."

Mom, helpless, gave me some more instructions. She swayed her slim waist and jiggled her thick hips as she rejoined the front row, plopping herself right next to the tall, robust Yedun. On Yedun's other side was Leng Niang, also in a pristine, snow-white tailor suit.

This was another of the Five Golden Flowers the "milf" type like my mom, but with a different temperament. While mom was cold and distant, Leng Niang projected bolder, warmer confidence, making those around her feel at ease. Her white suit, neat yet revealing her shirt had two undone buttons, not from neglect but sheer necessity; her bust was so massive, only mom could outmatch it. Her skirt was longer than mom's, but it split high up the thigh, baring creamy white skin.

"Anata, don't worry, it's all under control." Mom leaned affectionately onto Yedun's shoulder, whispering in his ear.

Seated to the other side were Xin'er and my girlfriend Ling'er. Ling'er felt both angry and powerless her "deflowerer" had been killed by men sent by Yedun, yet he was her mother's secret consort and she still sweetly called him "daddy." Xin'er's eyes were ringed red either from tears or exhaustion.

What puzzled me was that my sister was sitting behind mom, clearly representing Qi-Gu Group, not merely as family.

The hearing began. Yedun hardly spoke; mom and Leng Niang dominated the conversation. Dad, worried, kept asking me to relay what they were saying his hearing only worked at close range.

"The guy in charge is he the judge or something? He's asking about the relationship between Yedun Taro and Qi-Gu Group."

"What relationship?" Dad, already mentally prepared, still wanted my take.

"Yedun Taro, male, Japanese, 45, GM of Dongsheng Group, Vice Chair of Qi-Gu, acting Chairman and Executive Director, chief rep in China, the fiancé of Chairwoman Gu Yunting, and the legal guardian of me and my sister…"

"Cough cough…cough cough…" Dad suddenly choked violently, and mom didn't even look back.

"I never…cough…never signed a divorce…how did I turn into an 'ex-husband'…" Dad fumed, breathless.

"You didn't divorce but you did sign away all powers of attorney. That lets Yedun represent you in everything. For operational ease, and to stop press speculation, mom just tells the public you're fiancés. Don't worry, mom would never actually betray us!" I said it with certainty, though I myself was unsure. But I trusted the silent words mom mouthed to me that day.

"So that's how it is…you two have had it rough. It's my fault. I need to recover, so you won't have to lean on that devil anymore…" Dad muttered as his breath returned.

Up front, Yedun was in high spirits, his hands roaming the thighs of both mature beauties.

Mom and Leng Niang cooperated, discreetly opening their legs under the table, letting the Japanese devil fondle as much as he dared.

At the end of the hearing, a crush of reporters swarmed them. Mom clutched Yedun's arm, answering questions with composure and poise.

"Chairwoman Gu Yunting, how has this murder affected Qi-Gu Group?"

"Of course, the company's reputation has risen another level, albeit with some harm to our public image. But for Qi-Gu, it's just a trivial episode on our road to growth."

"Is it really true that Japanese nationals killed your African friend? Is there any connection to your newly promoted manager Yedun Taro?"

"Nonsense. Kaklik was the son-in-law of my dear friend, and I'm grieved. But I'm not deceived by appearances. How could a Japanese commit such a crime? It was enemy companies sending three Chinese to impersonate Japanese! The Japanese, led by my Anata, are all upstanding citizens. I believe in the character of Japanese people only China still has such thuggish, homicidal scum." Mom replied coldly.

"Chairwoman Gu, decades ago, the Japanese invasion killed countless innocents. How can you now be so sure of Japanese character?"

"Backward nations suffer at the hands of others. Decades ago, we were weak and bullied. Now we are strong, we should be magnanimous even to those who wronged us. Besides, all Japanese interests in China are under my Anata's control nothing illicit can happen. We shouldn't dwell on past history; we must view today's Japan with a modern perspective. As Chinese, we should embrace them."

"Just like you, Chairwoman Gu? The legendary business queen is willing to marry a Japanese? Many wonder why not choose a Chinese man?"

"It's not that I look down on Chinese men. Is there anyone more accomplished than me? Since there isn't, why shouldn't I, as a woman, find a man who can conquer me? I may be lauded, but ultimately, I am still a woman I need a strong man to fill and conquer me! And Yedun Taro, my Anata, satisfies all my needs. Even if he's Japanese, he is a man I, Gu Yunting, acknowledge!" With that, she leaned into Yedun lovingly.

"Last question: if you really marry Mr. Yedun, will there be a change in company chairmanship?"

"Of course! While I may be in the limelight, some matters suit a man's presence even more. As the saying goes, 'marry a cock, follow a cock; marry a dog, follow a dog.' If I bring Qi-Gu Group into my marriage with Yedun Taro, of course everything, including myself, will belong to Anata. Once the dust settles, Qi-Gu will become a Dongsheng subsidiary, and he will be Chairman." Mom proudly declared her enormous dowry, her happiness unconcealed.

"May we ask Mr. Yedun a question?" As they headed for the car, a reporter called out.

Mom, reluctant, looked up at Yedun.

"No problem." Yedun nodded politely.

"Mr. Yedun, sources say you are the adopted son of Japanese underworld boss Yamainu Daitake. Given that House Yamainu and the Qi and Gu families are blood enemies, is this true?" The words sparked uproar. Leng Niang had suppressed this news; now the question risked blowing the whole thing up. Mom was anxious she hadn't wanted Yedun to answer, fearing he'd deliberately escalate.
