Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The weather befitted the murder. Dark, gloomy and ominous. The suburban neighborhood, once a place of peace and quiet, flipped to that of terror. Families flocked outside to catch a glimpse of the commotion. Clouds of gray suffocated the sky leaving no trace of the sun. Fog smothered the once vibrant house with shades of gray, foretelling the horror inside. Shoes splashed in the puddles on the ground as Special Agent Lucien Yui walked up to the house, nodding in greeting to the uniformed officers cordoning off the scene as he entered. They returned the gesture with scared expressions, but that is the usual response to his presence.

CSU officers swarmed the interior taking pictures, marking off potential evidence and dusting for prints. Special Agent Lucien Yui weaved through them to the second floor in the direction of the bedroom where the murder took place. The crime scene was unique. No blood, no matter, no fluids. Nothing was out of place. If it were not for the husk of a woman on the bed, you would not think that anything was amiss.

The victim was lying face up completely naked. Her arms and legs were spread out across the bed like she fell onto it. Her blonde hair fell loose around her head like a frame but her eyes and body was what was truly horrifying. Those blue eyes were devoid of any emotion. Not terror, not anger, nothing. They were sunken in just like the rest of her body. Her ribs, cheekbones, arms and legs bones visibly stuck out against her skin that was ashen to the point of translucence. It was as if her life was literally sucked out of her, leaving only her skin and bones. A husk of what was.

" Victim's name is Phoebe Price. Thirty - two years old. A history professor at Acadia University. Recently engaged to her now fiancé Luke Booth. Body was found by Mr. Booth at around 5:00am when he got off work and Alec is canvasing for witnesses." A cheerful voice came from behind. He knew it was Ace without having to turn his head. He is the only person he know who has the ability to sound professional yet hopefully cheerful, like a golden retriever waiting for praise.

" Get the fiancé's statement and potential alibi." he grumbled as he made his way to the medical examiner, Dr. Grey. Too bloody early in the morning for his cheerful attitude.

" Victim has no visible external injuries or defensive marks. No obvious cause of death but I will know more once I get her back to the morgue." Never taking her eyes off the body. Humming in acknowledgement Special Agent Lucien Yui turned his attention to the rest of the crime scene. That was when he noticed a living blueberry.

He was laughing with one of the CSU officers in the corner of the room. Everything about him screamed pretentious and green. No doubt a rookie. From the way his head tilted back just the right amount when he laughed, to the way he joked with other officers with such ease, everything just screamed annoying and pretentious. His clothes screamed that ' I know I am hot' look with a sleek grey blazer and trousers, black shirt and black loafers. The only thing that contrasted that sleek look was that blueberry ass hair on top his head. He attempted to style it sleekly but no amount of hair gel can hide that smurf murder site of hair he has.

Who he is? he doesn't know.

Do he care? Absolutely not.

Turning away from the terrible excuse of a smurf murderer, he untied the black, silk cloth that covers my eyes and searched for Professor Price's ghost. Scanning the bed, he found her staring at her corpse from the head of it. Tunning out the noise, he focused solely on her.

"Professor Price, I am Special Agent Yui. I am the head detective assigned to your case. Do you have any details that can help me find who did this to you?" Special Agent Lucien Yui inquired in hushed tones, looking directly at her.

As she looked up, she made direct eye contact impassively. Mimicking her corpse, her face showed no emotion. Normally a murder victim's ghost would be panicked, barely being able to understand the fact that their dead, but not her. Her eyes mirrored her body on the bed, looking at me as if she were never alive to begin with. Just as he was about to echo by question, she appeared in front of him, grabbing his shoulders harshly.

"My Booth killed me. My Booth killed me. My Booth killed me. My Booth killed me. My Booth killed me. My Booth killed me. My Booth killed me. My Booth killed me. My Booth killed me." Her soulless eyes burned into him with each word. Her grip bruising. Unflinchingly untethered myself to him, letting her ghost pass through him as he retied the silk on his eyes. Ignoring the questioning stares around him, he proceeded downstairs to the living room where the fiancé was sat. People cannot mind their own damn business.

He was disarrayed from top to bottom. His once neatly combed hair was a tangled mess, no doubt from pulling at it since morning. His unchanged security uniform, rumpled and creased. His blue eyes red rimmed, face blotchy and tear streaked. He collapsed on the sofa, his head in his hands, with Ace attempting to get a comprehensive statement and alibi. Before Special Agent Lucien Yui could go over to inquire about is alibi from Ace, his ringtone stopped him in his tracks. Pulling it out of his coat pocket, he internally groaned at the caller ID.

" When your finished come back to the station to meet your new partner. And don't even think about skipping or I will make sure you are on desk duty for the next month." Captain Hunter declared without preamble. Not bothering to answer, he hung up the call. Captain, being use to his behavior would not reprimand anyways. Internally groaning, he stalked to his car and began the foreboding drive to the precinct. Can't wait to see what idiotic rookie they pair his with.
