Phew! Okay, I've finally got a feel for what my skills are and what they actually do. I was so absorbed with my flintlock pistol that time just whooshed right past me. Not too fast though—it's not night yet, thank goodness!
I glance up at the sky—the sun's no longer glaring right above me, and the rays don't sting my skin as much anymore. Perfect. Time to move!
I push myself up and dust off, giving my clothes a quick once-over. Nothing fancy, really. Oh—did I forget to mention? Ever since I woke up in this forest, I've thankfully been clothed. Like, seriously, what kind of entity would reincarnate someone butt-naked? Oh boy~ that would've been so awkward.
Anyway, I'm sporting this rugged little dress. Just a plain, boring brown thing… uck. But whatever! Doesn't matter—I'm cute enough to make it work. I bet my cuteness could carry even the dullest outfit with ease.
My lips curl into a smile as I nod to myself, up and down, up and down.
grumble
『Guh, forgot..food.』
I placed a hand over my stomach. Right—food. That was why I even went looking for shade in the first place: to hunt in the afternoon...
Without wasting too much time, I started walking deeper into the forest. It really was a fascinating sight, actually—no dirt road, no path, just me walking blind. My flintlock pistol was still summoned, so I had it squeezed tight between my hands and held close to my chest, ready to aim and fire at whatever decided to come at me!
As I continued on, I carefully analyzed where I was going and where I had come from. I couldn't risk getting jumped by predators. As for what I wanted to hunt—poultry. Chickens, ducks, something simple! But that's probably just me being hopeful. I doubt those kinds of animals are just wandering around waiting for me...
So, if I can't find poultry, I guess I'd go for deer. Problem is...I don't really know much about cooking. In my past life I was mostly stuck inside my room, didn't go out much, didn't—uh...huh? I can't remember... Weird...
While I was lost in confusion, the forest carried on around me. Birds chirping, trees swaying... it was calming, in its own way. Still, I kept scanning my surroundings—until I caught it. A rustle. Bushes shifting, at eleven o'clock from where I stood.
I snapped my head in that direction, gun raised.
Excitement. Fear. My hand gripped tighter. Was it a rabbit? A snake? I didn't know. The bush kept moving—shaking—and then... out it came.
A rabbit. A cute, white rabbit.
Relief washed over me instantly. Thank God it wasn't a snake.
Well. Since it's come to this...
I looked at the bunny. It seemed to notice me, and I smiled.
『Cute bunny, please help me in my sustenance!』
With that, I tilted my head, kept smiling—
and pulled the trigger without hesitation.
