Chapter 9 - 9. NEW TARGET DETECTED

He looked behind him at the path Isaacson Hartford had gone through, and his eyes widened in disbelief.

Everything was clear, like broad daylight. How could such a disgusting event take place in such a prestigious place? Obviously, Isaacson thought he could easily get away with it.

Caspian, unable to look further, reached for his shirt. He took it off, leaving himself with his white undershirt, and gave the shirt to the lady.

Scrutinizing Caspian, who wasn't looking her way but was stretching out his shirt to her, Susan Lee cowered back in fear.

She did not move forward to accept his clothing.

Susan peeked at her clothes, which were torn into almost shreds; her eyes immediately welled up with tears again as she began to sob.

Caspian sighed; he didn't know what to do at this point and felt it would be best if Susan put on his clothes to cover her exposed body.

But seeing that she was not accepting the shirt, he turned and stared at her with a gentle smile.

"Have this to cover yourself a bit; it's going to be okay."

Caspian said it reassuringly. Susan Lee, with trembling hands, reached out and collected the shirt from Caspian.

Caspian strode inside the cubicle. He picked up her things from the ground and placed them into her bag.

His heart burned with fury and rage. Caspian did not know why some men were often shameless and heartless, especially corrupt ones like Isaacson Hartford.

As he picked up the items from the ground, Caspian vowed to put an end to people like him if he eventually got the chance to fulfill all of his dreams.

Having cleaned the bathroom, Caspian turned around and made eye contact with Susan.

Susan has already worn the shirt and is now scrutinizing him vigilantly.

He felt sorry for her state and went toward her. Caspian handed her back her things, and he said,

"Here, I don't know if this phone is going to work fine again. However, you should stop crying; it's all going to be fine."

Susan got her things from Caspian. She saw her phone broken and Burst out crying again. She directly throws the phone into the dirt can beside her and sobs loudly.

Caspian got emotional seeing her state and moved closer to her. He ruffled her hair and consoled her.

"Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Whoever looks outside dreams; who looks inside awakens.

So don't wallow in a past that you can't change; instead, strive towards not letting that past repeat itself in the present."

Susan Lee sniffed hard and bitterly chuckled. She pointed at herself and said to him while facing Caspian.

"Do you think I can ever get through this? I won't be able to get over this, crazy psycho. And he is out there, looming around the city and doing as he pleases. It'll be impossible."

Susan cried more, and Caspian's heart ached for her. He squatted beside her and massaged her hair back. Her hair seems soft as he caresses it.

Her voice cracked at intervals, her eyes were puffed out, and her nose was red.

"We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated. Don't waste your time on anger, regrets, worries, and grudges. Life is too short to be unhappy."

Caspian quoted, and Susan's lips trembled as she mumbled incoherent words.

"Look here; your words won't change anything."

"I know that. But it'll prevent many things from happening, dear one. To see what Is right and not do It Is a lack of courage. Please get up, and let's leave this place. We can talk outside in a much safer and better place."

Caspian suggested. However, Susan Lee was reluctant to go with him. Caspian again gave her a reassuring nod, and she agreed. Getting up from the ground after sitting there for quite some time made Susan feel a little dizzy. She staggered back a bit and managed to stand properly.

Susan and Caspian proceeded to leave the bathroom premises. Caspian, unfortunately, forgot he needed to return to the main hall to book the membership cards and secretly took Susan through the back path of the building.

Susan Lee was surprised as she saw that they were already out of the building without being caught by anyone. She breathed out in relief. Although she wanted to know how he knew the path and why he was there, she resisted the curiosity. Caspian led her under an old oak tree in a faraway area of the building.

He let Susan sit on the rock that was there and gazed intently at her.

"Why do you think Mr. Hartford did that to you?"

He asked, carefully measuring his tone so as not to scare her.

Susan chuckled sadly.

"Isn't it obvious? He is the head of our college department, and so he does as he pleases with the poor girls in our department. I just turned out to be the victim of his sexual assaults.

He promised to fail me in my exams, and not just that, he threatened to report me to the principal, saying I cheated and deserved expulsion if I told anyone what he had done to me.

He said I should always be ready to fulfill his needs whenever he asks for them, or else I should be ready to drop out of college. I only have an older sister and a Mom.

Dad passed away years ago, and my older sister and Mom worked tirelessly, day and night, to be able to afford my sister's and my tuition fees.

I don't want to let them down, and I also don't want to end up as that monster's sex toy. I don't even know…"

Susan couldn't help tearing up again, and Caspian did not stop her from weeping. He let her cry and vent her sadness and frustration.

Caspian clasped his fist tightly, and hatred brewed in his eyes.

He had always known the Hartford family were despicable people, but he did not expect Isaacson Hartford to be the worst of all.

What more is the Hartford family hiding from the public?

Just as Caspian's thoughts were about to go wild, he received a new order from his newly gained system.
