Artemis approached Kacy, walking Abby along the stone pathway in the garden. The sun shone against Kacy's brown hair and Abby's white fur.
"You need to stand up to Lolita and demand a better room from her."
Kacy sighed. "At least it's a roof over my head. My old home was destroyed by the flood."
Artemis clasped a hand over his mouth. "Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry, that must have been devastating!"
Kacy nodded while holding back tears. "I lost my mother. The only good news I've received is from watching the news on television. I know my brother is somewhere in Technate."
"Technate?" Artemis's eyes lighten up. "I've only travelled there once with Lolita to go to a meeting with Jacob Kennedy."
"You're allowed to travel outside the country?" Kacy's eyes brightened. "I heard most travellers' requests get denied."
"I can only travel under the supervision of Lolita. I do wish Lolita's would grant us Intermariams with more freedom over our lives."
"Artemis!" Lolita screeched, as she stood by the white patio door tapping her high-heel shoe.
Artemis turned to look at Lolita's scowling face. "Break is over, I need you back in the board room to resume the meeting."
"Alright." Artemis grudgingly left Kacy and Abby.
