Inside the House – Evening
Luna pushed the door open slowly. The silence inside felt heavier than usual.
Luna (weakly calling out): "Mom…? Grandma…?"
No answer. She tried to climb the stairs, but the sharp pain in her stomach grew unbearable. Her knees buckled, and she knelt on the floor, clutching her stomach tightly.
Just then, a familiar voice came from behind her.
Haru: "Luna??"
She looked back—it was Haru, coming in from the garden. His face immediately shifted into panic as he rushed toward her.
Haru (kneeling beside her): "What happened?"
Luna (shaking her head quickly): "N-Nothing… I'm fine—"
She tried to push herself up, but her legs gave out. Luckily, Haru caught her before she could fall. His eyes flicked down, noticing her hand pressed tightly against her stomach.
Haru (gently, but firmly): "Stomachache? …Since when?"
Luna (softly): "Since… school."
Haru's expression softened with realization. He hesitated only for a moment before asking carefully:
Haru: "…First time?"
Her cheeks flushed faintly as she gave a small nod. Understanding everything, Haru let out a steady breath, then without a word, he slid his arms under her and lifted her bridal style.
Luna (startled): "i…! Y-you don't have to—"
Haru (firm, not letting her argue): "Don't talk. Just hold on."
He carried her upstairs, placing her gently on her bed. After making sure she was comfortable, he tucked the blanket around her.
Haru (softly, brushing stray hair from her face): "Stay here. I'll bring some tablets and a heating pad. Don't move."
Before she could reply, he was already out of the room, moving quickly.
Then,
Luna's Room – Few Minutes Later
The door creaked open, and Haru walked back in with a glass of warm water, some tablets, and a heating pad tucked under his arm. His movements were calm but hurried, like he was holding back his worry.
He set everything on the bedside table and knelt down beside her.
Haru (gently): "Sit up a little. Here—lean on me."
Luna hesitated, but the pain made her obey. Haru supported her back with one arm, sliding a pillow behind her. He held out the tablet and warm water.
Haru: "Take this. It'll help."
Luna slowly swallowed the medicine.
Luna (softly): "…Thank you."
Haru gave a small smile, brushing it off as if it were nothing. Then he plugged in the heating pad, warmed it, and gave it to her and turned around so she can adjusting it so it fit comfortably.
Haru: "Better?"
Luna let out a small breath, relaxing for the first time all day.
Luna: "Mm… yeah. It feels nice."
Haru stayed crouched beside the bed, watching her silently for a moment. His expression softened, the usual playful spark replaced by concern.
Haru (quietly, almost like a scolding): "You should've told someone earlier. Why suffer alone?"
Luna (murmuring, avoiding his gaze): "I didn't want to trouble anyone…"
Haru sighed, shaking his head, then gently placed his hand over the blanket where her hand was.
Haru (soft but firm): "You're never a trouble, Luna. Got it?"
Her eyes widened a little, caught off guard by his words. She quickly looked away.
Haru chuckled at her reaction, ruffling her hair lightly.
Haru: "Rest. I'll stay here till you sleep."
Without waiting for her protest, he pulled a chair close to the bed, make her lay on the bed and patted luna head softly
few minutes later, saw her watching sleep peacefully, he smiled and "you grown up" mumbled under his breath and left the room.
Luna's Room – Night
A few hours later, Luna stirred awake. The room was quiet, dimly lit by the soft glow of her bedside lamp. She blinked, rubbed her eyes, and instinctively turned to check the chair beside her bed.
Empty.
Her lips curved into a small, relieved smile.
Luna (whispering to herself): "He left… thank God. My heart can't handle his gentle actions anymore."
She clutched her chest, her cheeks flushing pink as she kicked her feet lightly under the blanket like a child hiding her excitement.
But then—her eyes caught something.
The balcony curtain swayed slightly from the night breeze. Frowning, she got up and padded softly toward it, pulling the fabric aside.
Her breath caught.
Down in the garden, Haru was sitting on the old swing, the one under the large tree. The moonlight spilled over him, outlining his figure in silver. His posture was relaxed, but his aura… it wasn't. His gaze was fixed somewhere far away, his hands loosely gripping the chain of the swing. There was a loneliness in his vibe, like he was lost in thoughts too heavy for the night to carry.
Luna's playful smile faded into a look of concern. She pressed her fingers lightly against the curtain, whispering softly.
Luna: "Why… does he look so lonely?"
Her heart, still fluttering from earlier, now ached for a different reason.
so she decided to go down
Luna slipped on her slippers and tiptoed downstairs. The house was quiet, only the faint creak of the old wooden stairs following her. She opened the back door slowly, letting the cool night air brush against her skin.
Haru didn't notice her at first. He was still sitting on the swing, his eyes fixed on the stars, lost in his thoughts. The garden lamp cast a faint glow over him, making him look almost… untouchable.
Luna walked closer, folding her arms.
Luna: "If you keep staring at the sky like that, the stars might think you're challenging them."
Haru's head jerked slightly—he hadn't expected her. He turned to her, and a small smile played on his lips.
Haru: "You should be resting, Luna. Not sneaking around the house like a ghost."
Luna: "You looked… lonely. That's why I came down. You're always the one helping me, but you never say what's on your mind. Are you okay?"
For a moment, Haru didn't answer. He just looked at her, then leaned back, exhaling softly.
Haru: "Some things aren't easy to say out loud. But… sitting here with you makes it a little lighter little one."
Luna tilted her head, her chest tightening at his words.
Luna (softly): "Then… whenever it feels too heavy, you can lean on me too. Not just the other way around."
Haru looked at her, his smile faint but genuine this time.
Haru: "Alright. I'll remember that, Luna."
Luna: "Why do you always sit out here alone?"
Haru (a small smile, but distant): "It's quieter here. No voices, no footsteps… just the kind of silence I'm used to."
Luna frowned. "Used to? What do you mean?"
Haru leaned back, the swing creaking under his weight.
Haru: "When you grow up with only echoes… silence stops feeling scary. It becomes… normal."
Luna hugged her arms. "That sounds… lonely."
Haru chuckled, but it was bitter.
Haru: "Lonely isn't the right word. It's just… waiting. Waiting for voices that only come once in a blue moon. A phone ringing once a year—that kind of company."
Luna's eyes widened slightly. She wanted to ask whose voices? but the heaviness in his tone told her not to push too hard.
Luna (softly): "So you wait… even when you know they might not come?"
Haru's jaw tightened. His gaze shifted from the stars to the ground.
Haru: "That's what kids do, right? They wait… even if the door never opens . maybe I'm burden to them that's why they abandoned me ." he stopped saying further because he realised this is not right to say this to a kid
Luna:
"You know… you always say things like you're unlucky, or like people leave you… but that's not true."
Haru let out a small, bitter laugh.
Haru:
"Mm. Says the kid who still believes the world's fair."
Luna sighs
Luna:
"I might be a kid, but I'm not dumb! If people left you, that's their loss. You're still here, right? You didn't give up. That means you're stronger than them."
Haru's eyes shifted slightly, her childish stubbornness catching him off guard.
Luna (swinging her legs now, voice softer):
"And… you're not a burden. You helped me today, didn't you? You carried me, took care of me. A burden can't do that. Only someone important can."
Haru's lips parted, but no sound came out.
Luna (tilting her head at him):
"You think silence is normal, but… I don't want you to be quiet all the time. If you're sad, you can tell me. If you're lonely… then I'll just sit here with you. Even if I don't know what to say, I can listen."
For the first time, Haru's expression cracked. He turned his face away, but Luna saw it—the way his eyes glistened, the tightness in his jaw and they way his one tear rolled down on his cheek , he quickly wiped it. this action made luna heartbreaks.
Haru (voice low, almost shaky):
"...Why would you mind if I put my head on your shoulder?"
Luna just nodded. she knows that she speak then her voice will crack."
haru put his head on her shoulder gently
luna :- me , my parents, and grandparents here for you so don't ever feel alone. we are family now
Haru (murmuring):
"You're gonna make me cry, kid."
Luna (grinning, proud):
"Good! Then it means I did something right."
