Elara's POV
He is there, standing by the door, and if not for the candlelight still burning to reveal him, I wouldn't believe he is the one.
He came to meet me?
"You left," he says.
I get off the bed, unsure if I'm supposed to walk to him or remain where I am. Something as simple as this suddenly confuses me.
"You left," he says again. "And no one, not even the gammas, saw you and Velora sneaking out."
I meet him at the door. "I… it was for a stroll. Just a night walk."
"A night walk that took all the hours of the night."
"Just a few hours." My gaze sweeps around us. "This is still night, right? And I'm already here."
"This is morning."
This conversation should feel more intense. Yet I don't feel like he's trying to judge Velora and me. It feels like a chit-chat, no pressure attached. I'm oddly at ease.
For some reason I don't even know, a smile forms on my lips. "Believe me."
"It's okay."
Just like that? What about the tantrums?
