The elevator doors slid open, and Jenny stepped into Adrian's penthouse, her heart pounding. The air was thick, charged with tension, as though the walls themselves were holding their breath.
Adrian didn't move. He stood rigid, hands shoved into his pockets, eyes burning into her with an icy intensity. A crooked, cold smile tugged at his lips.
"So," he drawled, his voice dripping with venom, "did you enjoy your evening with Christopher Davenport?"
Jenny froze, stunned. "What... what are you saying? Nothing like that happened."
"Nothing?" Adrian's tone sharpened, mocking. He pulled his phone from his pocket, swiped once, and tossed it onto the couch between them. "Look for yourself."
Jenny frowned, lifting the phone. Her eyes widened at the photo - her at the restaurant, Christopher leaning close, captured in a way that suggested far more than it showed.
Adrian stepped forward, his fingers brushing her wrist, feather-light but enough to send a shiver through her. His voice dropped, low and raw. "I couldn't sleep last night. Not with the thought of you sitting across from him. Not with the thought of another man smiling at the girl I love, like he had any right."
Her lips trembled. "This is not what you think. I was with friends. Christopher is Marie's family friend - nothing more. I had nothing to do with this."
Adrian gave a bitter laugh, his jaw tight. "And I should believe you? Jennifer Smith, daughter of the man who ruined my mother? Why should I trust you? Loyalty doesn't seem to run in your blood."
"Don't insult me, Jenny," he went on, his voice sharp. "I already know about the marriage alliance between the Davenports and the Smiths. Stop lying. Stop toying with my heart."
Tears blurred Jenny's vision. "Marriage? Adrian... yes, my father asked me about it, but I never said yes. How could you even think-"
"Because I saw the way you looked at him!" Adrian snapped, stepping closer, fury radiating from him. "You were comfortable. Smiling. Like you were already his. Don't deny it. You'll accept this marriage eventually, won't you? Because in your heart, I'm nothing but a man you can crush and throw away."
His lips curved into a cruel smile. "Tell me, does he kiss you like I do? Or maybe he's better. Tell me, Jenny - do you already sleep in his bed?"
She flinched at his venom. "Stop it!"
"No!" he roared, slamming his hand against the wall beside her, caging her in. "You're just like Peter. Playing with me, pulling me in, then stabbing where it hurts most. I never wanted this - any of this. You seduced me into madness. You wanted me... and now you think you can run around with Christopher while I-"
Jenny's chest heaved. She could no longer hold back her pain. "Enough, Adrian!" she snapped, her voice shaking. "What heart? What relationship are you even talking about? You've never accepted us. I'm the only one holding this together, breaking myself piece by piece for you. To you, I was never Jennifer. I was only Smith's daughter - a pawn in your revenge game."
Adrian's eyes darkened, but she pressed on, her voice trembling with anguish.
"How dare you question my loyalty! I've loved you from the very beginning, even when you gave me nothing but silence and scorn. Christopher means nothing. He could never mean anything. Yet still you punish me for choices that were never mine."
Adrian faltered, but she didn't stop.
"Every time I confessed my love, you tore it apart mercilessly. You mocked my feelings, doubted my heart. And still I loved you. Again and again, I chose you. Christopher means nothing - but it's true, Adrian. You never gave me a place in your life."
His jaw clenched. "Don't twist this-"
"I'm not twisting anything!" she cried, her eyes glistening. "You've carried your hatred so deep, you never stopped to see how much you were hurting me."
Tears slid down her cheeks, her voice breaking. "So tell me, Adrian. What place do I even have in your heart? If the answer is none... then I swear I will never stand before you again."
Silence fell, heavy and suffocating. Jenny stood trembling, every shred of strength poured into those words.
Adrian's face darkened, lips parting, but no words came. For the first time in years, he looked shaken. For the first time, he felt cornered - not by an enemy, but by the truth of the woman he loved.
Jenny's voice echoed in the stillness, soft but unyielding: "I was devoted to you. Only you."
Adrian's gaze locked on her, every muscle taut, torn between fury and a longing that refused to die. His throat worked, his voice hoarse.
"Then prove it," he muttered, desperate. "If I'm the only one... seduce me, Jenny. Make me yours. Show me I'm not a fool for wanting you."
Jenny blinked, startled. "Adrian..."
"Do it," he demanded, stepping closer, his breath warm against her lips. His tone was sharp, but his eyes betrayed him - anger fading, replaced by hunger, by fear. "Take me... or I'll never believe you."
For a moment, her lips trembled. Then something inside her ignited. Jenny cupped his face with trembling hands and kissed him - fierce, desperate, pouring every ounce of love into that single act.
Adrian groaned, his defenses shattering. His arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her flush against him as though he might lose her if he let go.
"Damn you, Jenny," he whispered against her lips, his voice ragged with emotion. "You've ruined me. I tried to hate you, but I can't. I love you. Do you hear me? I love you - and it terrifies me."
Her tears fell freely, but she smiled through them, kissing him again. "I love you too, Adrian. I always have. No one else... no one but you."
The confession tore down the last walls between them. Their kisses grew deeper, hungrier, yet tender - a collision of desperation and devotion. Jenny's trembling hands slid over his chest, unfastening his shirt, while Adrian watched her with a raw vulnerability he had never shown before.
He lifted her effortlessly, carrying her to the bed. Their lips never parted, each touch more urgent than the last, as though they were branding one another. He tore open her last piece of clothing which was an obstacle between their love. His hands roamed over her back, pulling her closer as if the world outside could be burned away. Jenny pressed herself against him, every heartbeat syncing with his, every breath a confession. The room seemed to shrink until it existed for them alone.
Her lips traced his jaw, his neck, lingering where she knew it would elicit a shiver. His hands tangled in her hair, tilting her head back, exposing her throat to him. She shivered under his touch, trembling with desire, yet unafraid - fearless because her love for him had always been absolute.
"You have no idea what you do to me," Adrian murmured against her skin, his voice rough, reverent. "I tried to resist. Tried to stay cold. But you've undone me."
Jenny smiled, her whisper trembling but sure. "Then let me undo you completely." Her hands tracing the lines of his chest, pressing herself against him with a boldness born from years of longing.
Adrian groaned low in his throat, tilting her closer, their bodies pressed so tightly it felt as if the world had ceased to exist. His lips met hers again, slower now, tasting, memorizing, claiming. Every kiss, every sigh, every gasp carried the weight of unsaid confessions and buried desire.
She whispered against him, "I'm yours, Adrian. Only yours. No one else matters."
"I know," he said, voice breaking, trembling with a mixture of frustration, love, and relief. "I love you, Jenny. I've tried to deny it, tried to guard myself... but I can't. Not ever again."
Their embrace tightened, and the penthouse was filled with the quiet sounds of surrender - lips meeting, breaths mingling, hearts beating fast but in harmony. Every touch was a promise, every movement an unspoken vow.
At last, they lay together, foreheads pressed, breath mingling. Adrian brushed a strand of hair from her face, his voice softer than she had ever heard.
"I have already marked you. Now, you're mine, babe. Always have been, always will be. If anyone ever tries to take you away... they'll have to face me."
Jenny's lips curved into a trembling smile. "Then I guess I belong to Alpha Adrian."
For the first time, laughter spilled between them, bright and unguarded.
And as the night settled around them, all that remained was love - raw, unbreakable, and eternal.
