Chapter 2 - The First Clues

I didn't want to waste my time, I need to go to the police station and see if they can help me solve my sister's case. I approached the station with the feeling of hope and justice. I ask them if they can help me with my sister's case, I told and explain them everything in detailed. They said they will assign an officer for my sisters case.

After a few minutes later, a police officer came close and introduced himself as the one assigned to my sibling's case. He stood neat and well-composed. "Hi Ms. Mia! my name is Alex! nice to meet you! Don't worry, we will do everything so that you can attain justice," he said with a smile that managed to calm me down. He gave me the assurance that I can trust him with my sister's case.

Before we go deeper in the case, Alex suggested we talk into the nearest cafe to talk in private. The cafe was small, quiet the place where the smell of the freshly bake pastries and freshly brewed coffee fills the place the moment you walk in. Only a small group of friends we're there, talking very low and some are just staring outside. Me and Alex take a seat at a corner table, away from everyone else. Alex looked at me kindly, he's not like other officer that about to interrogate someone, but Alex is more on the gentle side and someone who genuinely wanted to listen and understand. "Just start from the beginning," he said gently. "Take your time." So I did.

I told him everything, slowly this time about how I saw Lea sneaking out that night, the strange man waiting for her outside, and the feeling in my gut that something wasn't right. He didn't interrupt. He just nodded along, occasionally asking questions, scribbling things in his notebook. But more than that, he made me feel like he was really listening like what I was saying finally mattered.

When I finished, he looked thoughtful for a moment, then said my story could be a turning point in the investigation. That what I saw might actually change everything. But then his expression shifted. He leaned in slightly and lowered his voice. "You need to be careful," he said. "If there are dangerous people involved, they won't want the truth coming out." His words hung in the air between us, heavier than anything else he'd said. I nodded, unsure what to say. I hadn't realized until then just how serious things might be.

Alex looked at his notes again, his face showing that he was thinking hard. He asked me more about the man I saw that night how tall he was, how he walked, and what clothes he wore. I tried my best to remember every little detail. As I talked, I noticed something in his eyes, like he already had an idea of who the man might be, but he didn't want to say it yet. Alex smiled gently as he wrote down the details I told him. "You're doing the right thing by telling me everything," he said. "Every little detail can help us get closer to finding justice for your beloved sister Lea." His words made me feel a little lighter, like maybe justice was possible after all I took a deep breath and showed I agreed.

For the first time since that night, I felt a small spark of hope .I knew it would be difficult, but I was prepared to do everything possible to help find my sister. Alex closed his notebook and leaned back slightly in his chair. For a moment, neither of us spoke. The hum of the cafe, the clinking of cups, and the faint music playing in the background filled the silence. I gripped my cup of coffee, realizing it had already gone cold in my hands.

"You've been carrying this alone for too long," he said softly.

"No one should have to go through that."

"You are a strong women Mia, I'm so proud of you!" Alex's words really hit me, I wanted to cry so bad, but i can't because I'm too shy.

"A pretty woman like you don't deserve that, you are one of a kind Mia," he said while smiling.

I felt my cheeks blushing, and for the first time in a long while I noticed the way he stares at me seemed a little longer than usual. There was a gentleness in the way he spoke to me that made my heart skip unexpectedly, I found myself staring at him smiling, drawn to his presence. After we finished talking, Alex said he would take me home. I felt a little nervous, but I trusted him. The city lights flickered by as we climbed into the car, and I made an effort to stop my mind from racing. The sensation of having someone at my side made the otherwise silent voyage a little more bearable. When we arrived at my house, Alex turned to me and said, "I'll make sure we follow up on everything we talked about.

You did the right thing today" I thanked him and felt a small relief .

The search for my sister was just staring, but know I knew I wasn't facing it alone When I entered the house. I sat on my bed and took a deep breath.

My chest still felt really heavy from everything that happened to my sister. I couldn't stop thinking about everything, Lea, the strange man, and the steps Alex and I would take tomorrow.

I left my room and went to the living room after a few minutes. I noticed a strange sound, like if someone was moving around the house, even though everything was quiet. I took a close look, but there was nobody.

I took another look and decided it was simply my imagination. After that I took a deep breath and sat back down on the sofa, trying to calm my nerves. I slowly dozed off again and woke up to the sunlight coming through the window.

When I checked my phone, there was a message from Alex: "Good morning! Are you ready for our plan today? Let's start at 10 AM." I smiled a little. Even though I was still scared, I felt better knowing I wasn't alone in finding Lea.
