Chapter 1 - Ch.1

"Hiruzen, hand over Hanekawa to me!"

Danzo Shimura spoke with a serious and direct tone. "He's too dangerous! He could be a spy from the Village Hidden in the Clouds!"

"He's not."

Hiruzen Sarutobi tapped his pipe and said calmly.

"Don't forget what happened when Kushina was kidnapped by the Village Hidden in the Clouds!" Danzo scoffed. "Hanekawa is an orphan adopted by Nonō, he should have joined the Foundation."

"Are you telling me how to do my job?"

Hiruzen's eyes narrowed slightly. "You need to understand, the orphanage belongs to Konoha, not the Foundation."

Danzo grew angry. "Hiruzen, you..."

"You're going to say I'll regret this, aren't you?" Hiruzen interrupted him. "I won't regret it."

Danzo was speechless, his words failing him. Damn you, Hiruzen, was this also part of your plan? How dare you steal my lines!

He also wanted to say, "I'm the Hokage," but he couldn't.

Bang!

Danzo stormed out in a fit of rage. He took a few steps, then turned back and said, "Hiruzen, you'll regret this!"

Saying that made him feel a little better.

"..."

Hiruzen shook his head, looking at the empty doorway. An advisor only needs to talk back, but as the Hokage, he had to consider many things.

"Haru, get someone to replace the door. Put the cost on Danzo's tab."

Hiruzen looked down at Hanekawa's file on his desk.

Hanekawa, male, six years old, war orphan, adopted by Yakushi Nonō.

During a ninja examination by the Yamanaka clan, he demonstrated frightening spiritual power. After an investigation, it was confirmed that this was not due to a planted espionage jutsu but was an issue with his own spiritual power. Without any training, his spiritual power was several times stronger than that of his peers.

"Nonō is Danzo's subordinate. He can't stay at the orphanage," Hiruzen said thoughtfully.

Yin Release represents spiritual power, like the secret techniques of the Yamanaka and Nara clans, or the Sharingan. But clan secrets are never taught to outsiders. Unless it's a civilian ninja.

"Kurenai Yuhi."

Hiruzen's mind stirred. Kurenai Yuhi was a jonin specializing in genjutsu and a suitable instructor for chuunin and genin.

Hanekawa's eyes shot open. He felt sore all over, as if he'd been hit by a truck or ravaged by a dozen women.

He looked at the unfamiliar ceiling and, instinctively looking around, his expression turned bewildered. Where am I? Is this my room? Where are my figures of Rin Tohsaka, Celestina, Tsunade, and Tifa?

As he lay dazed, something forcefully entered his mind, and countless memories began to flash back. He had transmigrated, or rather, awakened the memories of his past life.

The good news: he was now in the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Hanekawa had seen Naruto, and in the chaotic ninja world, Konoha was considered one of the safer places. If he was careful and waited for Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha to save the world, he might be able to survive until the end.

The bad news: he was a spy from the Village Hidden in the Clouds. Hanekawa was born in the Village Hidden in the Clouds and chosen for a spy mission to Konoha due to his quick wits.

He was immediately faced with his first challenge: an examination. In Konoha, the Yamanaka clan's secret jutsu could make even a corpse talk, let alone a living person. But during the examination, he fainted. Thinking of this, Hanekawa broke out in a cold sweat. Was I exposed? He knew what happened to moles; The Departed had documented it well.

Just then, a few lines of text appeared in his vision.

[System loading.]

[You have loaded the Ninja Title System.]

[Upon meeting specific conditions, you can obtain corresponding titles. Some special titles can be deduced and synthesized into higher-level titles.]

[Titles are categorized into E, D, C, B, A, and S ranks; there are three types: Ninjutsu, Ninja Tools, and Talent.]

"Huh?"

Hanekawa's eyes widened. Was his cheat system finally here? As a "three-no" ninja—no bloodline, no secret jutsu, no ninja clan—he was destined to struggle in the ninja world. Now there was hope. The thought made him hum with excitement.

Hanekawa studied the system. It was simple, with only a title panel showing his current titles.

[A-rank Talent Title: The Lurer.]

[Trigger condition: Novice Gift Pack.]

[Effect: When someone investigates you, your memories will be forged.]

[Note: Cannot be synthesized.]

Excellent. The classic Novice Gift Pack. Hanekawa breathed a sigh of relief. Now he wouldn't have to worry about the Yamanaka clan's jutsu.

[C-rank Talent Title: Innate Full Spirit.]

[Trigger condition: Fusion of two souls.]

[Effect: Your talent for Yin Release is increased by 100% of its original value.]

[Note: Cannot be synthesized.]

Why isn't this "Innate Full Spirit" a Wood Release awakening? Hanekawa fell silent. Yin Release is tricky. I don't have a Sharingan, and I'm not from the Yamanaka or Nara clans. Am I supposed to learn genjutsu?

He dismissed the idea. Genjutsu ninjas were a lost cause. Kurenai Yuhi had spent her entire life learning genjutsu, yet she couldn't compare to a random Uchiha who had just awakened their Sharingan.

Since that was the case, he'd eat first. Hanekawa felt an intense hunger. Suddenly, a look of regret crossed his face.

"Damn it! My holy sword!"

He remembered staying up late playing an online game before he transmigrated. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them, a lifetime had passed. He didn't know what his old body was like. If he was just missing, his phone would surely be unlocked. The thought made him furious.

The door opened. Hanekawa subconsciously looked up at the girl who had just entered. She wasn't just a girl; she was a beautiful, doll-like loli. What stood out most were her ruby-red eyes. Hanekawa was confused.

Who is this? Where am I?

It wasn't the orphanage; he remembered the children there. This was a good thing, though. The orphanage's manager, Yakushi Nonō, was Danzo's subordinate. If Danzo had gotten his hands on him, he would have been brainwashed with the Foundation's will and his spirit broken.

"You're awake?" Kurenai Yuhi said with a smile. "I'm Kurenai Yuhi."

"Hanekawa."

Hanekawa's mood relaxed, looking at the pretty loli's smile. So it was Kurenai Yuhi. In the original story, she married Asuma Sarutobi and was ultimately widowed.

"Can you walk?" Kurenai paused. "I'll take you to meet my father. He'll explain everything."

"I can walk."

Hanekawa got out of bed, his mind working quickly. Kurenai Yuhi's father was Shinku Yuhi. So his father's name was "Very Red Yuhi"? The name sounded a bit silly, but he wasn't a subordinate of Danzo. As a genjutsu jonin, his commander was likely the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi. The reason it was Hiruzen and not Minato Namikaze was because Kurenai Yuhi was still so young.

Hiruzen Sarutobi was a controversial figure, but he had dedicated his life to Konoha. Compared to Danzo Shimura, he was kind-hearted. At the very least, he wouldn't place a cursed seal on your tongue.
