Ryan had told Marcus everything, how his parents died when he was seven, how Matt had raised him, how revenge had shaped his life, and how his split personality began when he was seven.
Marcus was still holding Ryan when Ryan pulled away.
The movement was sudden, jarring. Ryan wrapped his arms around himself like he was afraid his body would fall apart without the restraint. He turned his face away from Marcus, staring at the wall with empty eyes.
"You need to go," Ryan said quietly.
Marcus's confusion flickered across his face. "What? Why? Ryan, I'm not leaving you like this…"
"Because there's still something I haven't told you." Ryan's voice was flat, mechanical. "...something that changes everything."
"Tell me then." Marcus stepped closer, reaching out, but Ryan flinched away from his touch.
"I'm The Scourge."
