Chapter 1 - I. Inspector Ganimard.

It was just a regular normal sunny day somewhere in Europe. The sun is calling, the wind is blowing, a perfect day for a perfect morning. The rise of crime has slowly been increasing as multiple crime organisations form. As the rise of crime, also comes with the rise of it's counter, newer and more intelligent detectives also came to a rise with the ongoing crimes. As technology starts to further advance, so does the newer ways of crime take form. This causes multiple veterans to be left in the dust, with their techniques being easily countered now with the future becoming more advance with technology and experiments.

In the heart of a city, lies a warehouse. A warehouse used to sell and deal with illegal items and make illegal purchases from stolen and smuggled valuables, one was a painting stolen from a Baron who lives in a castle isolated with its surrounding waters. Out of nowhere, a gas tank rolls under the feet of a seller. Mere seconds after, bullets spray over the area and hits the gas tank causing it to burst into flames. Causing a loud and destructive explosion.

BOOM!!

A car comes out of the explosion, inside the black vehicle was Inspector Ganimard, a smart and professional fellow who onced caught criminals even other detectives couldn't, one of the greatest in intelligence and deduction skills, of course. Only second to Herlock Combs.

The car drove through multiple alleys and streets while being chased down by multiple armed enemies, some shooting their guns at him, and some trying to block his way. Though, none was successful, as Ganimard was also quite skillful with the vehicle. His colleague, a young rookie who accompanied him to retrieve the stolen painting, looks at Ganimard in fear and regret.

"Sir Ganimard! Couldn't we have done this in a more stealthy and quiet way?!"

"Oh shush, I am not but just a Detective, I can't possibly be as good as that man."

"Who? Herlock Combs?"

"What? Of course not, I'm obviously talking about-"

Before Ganimard could finish his sentence, multiple bullets enter through the back of the car, both of them luckily ducked, avoiding getting shot, they sigh in relief but before they could catch their breath. They look forward to see the end of the highway.

Without a chance to steer and hit the breaks, both of them hit the steel rails and fly out of the road.

In a nearby station, both Ganimard and his Colleague are both covered in bruises and dirt. For as how they survived, the highway was above water, they managed to escape before the car sunk to the bottom.

"Take good care of this painting, and you, Colleague. Get some rest and go treat yourself to something nice, you deserve it for your performance today."

"Thank you Sir Ganimard."

Ganimard goes to his office, he looks through his files, all of them were stacked up as if he was neglecting his work despite working overtime. He tries to go through each file but the fatigue and exhaustion couldn't make him bother to do so, but one case stood out to him, even just a glance, it caught his interest.

"Jack.. The... Ripper..."

The infamous Devil of Whitechapel, famous for his killings and more importantly. He was like a ghost with it as well. Disappearing like smoke, everytime there was a corpse nearby, smoke is always present as if he was smoke itself. But Ganimard knew it isn't his place to meddle in a case like that, he knew he had to wait for orders, but what's making him frustrated is how Herlock isn't on the case already.

He knows that Herlock would most likely solve the case already but for some reason chose not to. This leaves Ganimard frustrated. Annoyed and impatient, Ganimard calls Herlock.

"Combs! What is the meaning of this?! Whitechapel is slowly turning into a graveyard with the amount of deaths this Devil has caused! What are you doing when you could be saving your people from death?!"

"I am not ignoring it Ganimard. I am occupied by a more frustrating case, even i. Herlock Combs, can't help but feel lost. I am sorry. But you have my permission to capture the Devil yourself."

Ganimard was frustrated but slowly calming down after hearing the frustration in Herlock's voice, Herlock was many things, but unsettled isn't one of them.

"Merci. But what case could make you this frustrated?"

"Oh, isn't it obvious, it's our dear A- sorry, i must go, good luck, Ganimard."

Ganimard could only know who Herlock was refering to, he completely understands Herlock's frustration if he's investigating that man.

He looks down at the files about Jack The Ripper, before leaving his office full of determination.

"Well, It's up to me to save the people of London from this Devil. Wait for me."
