They curled together on the narrow infirmary bed, the limited space leaving them no choice but closeness.
Julian was pressed flush against Raphael's chest, legs tangled, breaths overlapping. The intimacy of it made heat bloom across Julian's cheeks, and he turned his face inward, hiding in the warm nook of Raphael's neck like it was the safest place in the world.
Raphael exhaled, long and slow, a sound that was dangerously close to a purr.
Contentment settled into his bones, heavy and grounding. One broad hand came up to Julian's hair, fingers threading gently through the soft locks, combing them back again and again with absent-minded tenderness.
It was soothing and anchoring in a way no words could be.
"The treaty will go as planned," Raphael said quietly after a while, voice steady now. "we discussed that in the meeting."
Julian shifted slightly, guilt prickling at him. "sorry again for the interruption" he admitted. "I guess that's kind of my fault."
