As his body completely warmed up, Huo Yuhao finally realized that Old Chen had left about ten minutes ago. He didn't know where he had gone.
He looked around, but it was quiet. The only sound was the crackling of wood burning in the fireplace.
"Gurble!"
Suddenly, a clear sound came from Huo Yuhao's stomach. His face stiffened, and he subconsciously touched his belly, muttering, "Stomach Bro, wait a little longer. After I finish this matter, I'll eat all the steamed buns I saved, and I'll definitely fill you up."
"Gurble!"
His stomach growled again.
Huo Yuhao: "Then add a fish."
'Stomach Bro' seemed satisfied and didn't continue its hunger song.
Huo Yuhao shook his head helplessly. Luckily, he had gotten used to being hungry over the years, or he wouldn't have adapted so quickly.
"Are you hungry?"
Just as Huo Yuhao was lowering his head to communicate with 'Stomach Bro', a wisp of fragrance drifted over from an unknown source, accompanied by a gentle voice.
Huo Yuhao quickly raised his head.
Old Chen had returned at some point. He was holding a large ceramic bowl, and after walking to the sofa, he gently placed it on the tea table.
Old Chen said with a smile, "Eat up. You're at the age where you're still growing, so you need to eat more."
Huo Yuhao was stunned for a moment, and his gaze instinctively turned towards the bowl. He saw that it was piled high with bright yellow noodles. There were also three square pieces of meat, each about two centimeters thick, casually placed on top. The slightly yellowish-brown soup faintly shimmered with a hint of oil, and there were also several meatballs and some greens.
Oh, right. The fragrant noodle soup was also garnished with a scattering of bright green scallions.
"Grumble!"
Perhaps it was the aroma that did it, but Huo Yuhao's stomach rumbled again. He didn't immediately pick up the bowl and start eating. Instead, he stared at the ceramic bowl in silence for a few seconds. Finally, he took a deep breath, as if to confirm, and asked, "Is this for me?"
"It is," Old Chen replied, raising his teacup. "Eat up. The noodles won't taste good if they get soggy."
Huo Yuhao's lips moved, but he didn't say anything. He silently lowered his head, picked up the chopsticks on the bowl, and began to eat the noodles.
He didn't bother with formalities. The sound of him slurping the noodles filled the air.
The noodles were chewy, with a hint of wheat fragrance. They were probably handmade.
And, it had to be said, that piece of meat, though thick and seemingly tough, was actually juicy and melted in his mouth.
That meatball was very elastic, it could probably be used as a ping pong ball.
As for the vegetables, the roots were as flawless as white jade, and the variety didn't look like ordinary, normal vegetables.
After a mouthful of hot soup, his limbs and bones finally came alive.
Old Chen didn't make the soup too heavy, the taste was perfectly light, not so bland that one couldn't taste anything, nor so seasoned that every bite was just spices.
Old Chen sipped his tea, watching Huo Yuhao "ferociously" devour the soup noodles, and couldn't help but chuckle.
"Slurp."
When the last mouthful of soup went down, Huo Yuhao was drenched in sweat. He wiped the sweat from his forehead with his arm, took a few deep breaths, and sighed, "This is the first time I've eaten such delicious noodles."
"It's not that I made it delicious, it's that you're hungry." Old Chen was just about to pour some more tea when he suddenly noticed that the teapot was empty. He immediately stood up, holding the ceramic bowl in one hand and the teapot in the other, "You rest for a while, those lackeys are probably still outside the manor looking for you."
Old Chen left again after speaking.
"Burp!" Huo Yuhao couldn't help but burp. He fished out a fish with a missing belly from the deep pocket of his trousers and stared at it silently, letting out a soft sigh, "Yeah, I'm hungry."
If Chai San hadn't come to cause trouble, he would be roasting the fish right now.
Ever since he transmigrated into Huo Yuhao, he couldn't help but want to roast fish whenever he saw one, as if it was etched into his memory.
"Eh!"
Suddenly, Huo Yuhao's expression shifted slightly. He felt a warm current spreading from his abdomen throughout his body, circulating through his blocked meridians. It was an inexplicable Soul Power.
The change in his body immediately caught Huo Yuhao's attention. He quickly closed his eyes, focusing on guiding the Soul Power that had inexplicably appeared within him. His cultivation progress was too slow, and he craved any Soul Power, not wanting to waste a single bit.
Soon, a faint fluctuation of Soul Power permeated around Huo Yuhao, not strong, but very warm, like the gentle light of the morning sun.
On the other side, Old Chen, who was washing dishes, smiled faintly, "The meat of a Thousand-Year Soul Beast is enough for you, kid, to enjoy."
...
"Mom, I plan to report to Shrek Academy early," Dai Huabin said, sitting upright on a soft sofa, his expression respectful as he looked at the beautiful woman in the main seat.
This beautiful woman was different from Huo Yun'er's pure and lovely beauty. Her appearance had a mature charm, with a hint of majesty mixed with her beauty. Her smooth, black hair was draped down, but her figure was hidden by a loose, luxurious robe, so it was impossible to tell if she had a good figure.
The beautiful woman held a wine glass, gently shaking it, causing the ruby-like liquid inside to swirl. Under the illumination of the soul guide lamp, it looked somewhat exquisite.
Hearing Dai Huabin's request, the beautiful woman's fingers stopped shaking the wine glass. She said in a calm tone, "What news did the Secret Guards you left in Shrek City send back? Why are you so eager to rush to Shrek City?"
Upon hearing the words "Secret Guards," Dai Huabin's pupils suddenly contracted. Even though the room was very warm, he felt a chill as if it were winter.
Seeing him like this, the Duchess snorted, "I control the entire White Tiger Duke's Manor. How could I not know about your little schemes?"
"Mom..." Dai Huabin was, after all, just a child a little over ten years old. Knowing that his secrets had been exposed, he was immediately somewhat panicked.
"Look at you," the Duchess frowned, "You're a part of me, a piece of my flesh. I remember every detail, even the two moles on your rear. Why are you so flustered? Don't tell me you're worried about your mother causing you trouble?"
Dai Huabin realized his reaction and scratched his head awkwardly, forcing a smile, "I got a bit excited."
This was his mother, after all. What did he have to fear?
It was just a knee-jerk reaction.
The Duchess took a sip of her wine, her voice calm, "If I had to guess, you're probably focused on your older brother, aren't you?"
Dai Huabin composed himself and nodded heavily, his voice serious, "Big brother is already a Soul King, and I've only just entered the Soul Grand Master rank. Father's title will definitely be decided between him and me in the future, and I'm feeling a bit anxious."
The Duchess sighed, placing her wine glass on the table, "What I really don't want to see is you and your brother fighting over this title. You are both my children, and I'll be heartbroken if either of you gets hurt in the process. But since you belong to the White Tiger Duke's Manor, this is the path you must take, and I can't stop you from competing."
Dai Huabin fell silent, saying nothing.
The Duchess glanced at him and shook her head gently, "Forget it, let's not talk about that. The fact that you came today is perfect, I have something to tell you."
Dai Huabin turned to look at her.
The Duchess smiled slightly, "Do you remember that girl, Zhu Lu? Your Martial Soul fusion with hers is extremely high, almost reaching ninety percent. This level is enough to rank in the top ten in the White Tiger Clan over the past ten thousand years. Your grandfather has decided to send Zhu Lu over to spend some time with you."
The pacing of this book might be a bit slow, I hope you readers will forgive me. There's a lot of setup in the early stages, and I know it can be boring. We'll get to the exciting parts later.
Regarding updates: I'll be updating every day at noon sharp. Of course, that might change later, and I'll let you readers know.
