Ficool

Chapter 4 - It's my second day in an anime world and obviously it will be normal...

Making my way through the school hallway, I calmly approach my designated class, with one hand in my pocket and the bag over my shoulder.

[...]

Honestly, I had no idea I was already enrolled here, but that's not surprising either.

[...]

But this uniform is actually kinda cool, and the school as a whole seems good too. I think it has everything a student could want.

[...]

Alright, alright, what's your problem? Why are you spamming this thing in my head?

[...I still can't believe your distraction strategy was dancing.]

What did you want me to do? You told yourself that the few points I had were useless, so I could only dance, sing, or get naked.

I can't sing, and I wasn't about to get naked, so I was left with dancing as a distraction. And anyway, I wouldn't have done that if I knew Lala could summon the robot-octopus out of nowhere.

[Mhm…you don't feel embarrassed?]

No, in the face of death, things like that seem irrelevant.

[I get it, I get it, it was quite awkward, although you have my respect for learning the choreography]

Thank you very much, I worked hard when I was a kid to learn it, my ten-year-old self thanks you.

[You're welcome~]

Ah, by the way, was it just me or did you also notice the way Mikan looked at me yesterday?

[No, she was definitely looking at you weird yesterday]

Yeah, she tried to hide it but I caught her sneaking glances at me several times, do you have any idea what it could be?

[I'm just as clueless as you]

That's what I thought, at least Rito was acting normally, well, as normal as one can act after discovering three strangers broke into his house.

[You're not going to try and come up with a more plausible excuse than the one you gave?]

And what do you expect me to say? There's nothing believable or logical enough to serve as an excuse, and the reality that a pink-haired alien girl teleported into my bathtub while I was showering is just way too ridiculous, he'd probably curse at me if I said that.

[You're lucky he seemed fed up with your incessant rambling and just gave up on figuring out what happened]

Heh, yeah, who would've thought that talking rapidly about random stuff without context would make people lose interest in you, huh~?

[Hm]

Ah, the door is right there, I wonder who my classmates will be, but considering the most predictable scenario, I'm definitely Rito's classmate.

With what I assume is the class teacher, an old bald man with glasses in front of the door, I go ahead and introduce myself.

"Excuse me?"

The old man then seems to snap out of his stupor and turns to me, his gaze scanning me from top to bottom "Oh, Rafael-kun, right?"

I give a small nod in response.

"Great, wait here a moment, I'll go let them know about you and then I'll call you to introduce yourself, yes?" he said, pushing up his glasses.

"Sure."

The old man gives a nod before opening the sliding door, entering and closing it behind him.

Alright, while we wait here, can you clear something up for me, how does the system work again?

[I explained it to you yesterday, already forgot?]

It's not that I forgot...okay, I forgot a little, I remember the stuff about plot points, skill lotteries and item lotteries, but explain it again just to see if I'm remembering it right.

[Sigh, fine, pay attention]

[Your system is based on [Plot Points], you earn them just by participating in [Scenarios] which are basically the original story events, you get points at the beginning and at the end of a scenario]

Hmm.

[Like yesterday for example, you already had 50 points as a welcome gift, you could've used them but it would've been pointless, then you participated in the Lala event and got 10 at the start, and after helping her you earned another 30 at the end]

Right, that I understood, but what defines the number of points I get, is it like based on performance or is it random?

[That depends on the difficulty of the scenario and how much you influence it, changing things compared to the original, so yeah, it depends on your performance]

Got it, go on.

[The second function of the system is the [Character Lottery] and [Item Lottery], basically with the points you can buy a pull of the category you choose and depending on the amount of points you spend, the greater the chances of winning something useful]

Wait, so I can just choose a specific item or character, spend the points, and wait for the chance to get it?

[Not really, you don't choose the item or the character, it's random, the most you can do is choose the amount of points, the more points you spend the greater the chances of winning something strong and useful]

Wait, so you're telling me I can't even choose what I want? What kind of system is that?

[Well, there's nothing I can do, I wasn't the one who made the rules]

Right right, whatever go on.

[Those are the system's functions, you earn points by participating in events from the original story and with those points you can get character or item cards]

Okay but how do those character cards work, is it like a template system or something?

[When you get a character card you can get random things like a skill, knowledge or a trait, either temporary or permanent from said character, item cards work the same way, you might get something permanent or temporary]

Wait you said permanent?

[Yes, you could for example pull Naruto's card and randomly get a permanent trait like his chakra]

Holy shit, seriously?

[Yes but don't get too excited, the chance of that happening is extremely low and even if you did get it you wouldn't get all of his chakra, at most a small percentage, don't forget how lottery or gacha systems are with their users]

So basically it's extremely hard to get a powerful permanent power-up, that's what you're saying?

[In short, yes]

Okay, just my usual luck, I guess tha—

"Cough cough, excuse me, you may enter now."

Ah, looks like that's my cue, you'll explain the rest later, for now it's time for me to meet my classmates.

—Shoosh

...

Upon entering the room, Rafael closes the door behind him and looks at his classmates.

['...Yup, I'm in the same class as Rito, no surprise there.'] Rafael thought as his eyes wandered around, seeing the surprised-looking boy at the back.

['I can also see the blue-haired girl from here, what was her name again? This class also has Rito's pervy friend, doesn't it? I think there are more *heroines* too but I can't remember any right now.'] He thought lazily as his eyes drifted between the girls, ignoring the odd looks a few of them gave him.

"Ahem, don't just stand there at the door, come here and introduce yourself."

['Right, I gotta do that.'] Being called by the teacher, Rafael did as he was told.

As he walked to the front of the blackboard, he could feel the eyes that followed him.

[You're not nervous?]

['Surprisingly no, I expected to be at least a little nervous but I'm actually pretty calm']

Stopping and turning to face the class, he met the eyes of everyone, thinking that it would be completely understandable if even adults got nervous under so many stares.

"Introduce yourself please."

"Sure." Still looking around, he could see a few curious looks, some students whispering among themselves while looking at him, he couldn't really tell if they were talking about him or not and also noticed a few faintly interested glances.

['Right, I forgot I'm kinda handsome, even if I'm all skin and bones right now, anyway.'] "My name is Rafael Sales, I'm 15 years old, I'm from Brazil, my hobbies are... basketball and yes I know, 'a Brazilian who doesn't play soccer, Masaka!?' Yes yes, completely unbelievable but yes, people like me exist."

His words immediately earned a few laughs, he also saw some students smiling, his light joke to break the ice clearly working.

With a slight grin, he continued with a shrug. "I mean, I know it's weird, it's like an Italian not liking pizza, an American not liking hamburgers, a Russian not liking vodka or a Japanese not liking sushi, but yeah, it's rare but it happens all the time."

And more laughter followed, this time even the teacher beside him chuckled for a moment before stopping with a disguised cough.

"And my other hobby is manga and anime, but don't get me wrong I'm not an otaku, just because I have a Hatsune Miku dakimakura and can sing the intro to a hundred different animes doesn't mean I'm an otaku, right?"

Another wave of laughter came this time from almost everyone in the class.

['Great, kudos to me.'] "Well, that's it, nice to meet you all, I hope we get along since I'm new here, and yeah... dattebayo."

His words were followed by applause to which Rafael just gave a thumbs up with a slight smile in response.
