Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO: Jealousy-jealousy

 There she's at it again,

says a mysterious figure looking through the window.

she always thinks that she's better than us just because she can get her children to wake up early, I just hate her condescending gaze every time she sees us on her way back from dropping her kids off, like oh you are just taking your kids, then she just smiles as if it makes us feel better.

Honey... is six in the morning what are you talking about, he said

It's Lacy, she's out again. Claire replied,

oh honey don't do this to yourself, we are not going down that road again, remember what happened when we tried to wake Luke up around five in the morning, it was disastrous and we swore we wouldn't do that again remember… he said

I know but I just want to win against her just once, i mean she can't be real, she is beautiful her kids are always getting first, like isn't it weird, I get that they are twins but how do they keep sharing the first place from preschool till now,

it is weird, don't you think it's weird, cause I think it's weird, right honey, Claire asked almost hysterically.

….. he answered tired and sluggishly as he is still half asleep, "yes weird" as he tries to fall asleep.

Nope I can't let it slide as Claire hurriedly left her room making her way to the front door.

As She ran down the stairs, dashed to the door, and made her way to her neighbours front door, just as she was about to knock, the door was pushed open.

It was Jeremy... the second twin, she and every other woman in this town has learned the one unspoken rule, which was, never look at Jeremy for more than 2 seconds.

as she barely gave him a glance, even when he greeted her.

Mrs. Flinch welcome, as he asked her if she wanted to come in,

The fact that he was already ready, fully dressed and polite, only made her more mad,

as she tried to hide it with a smile ,but her ability to hide under a smile is almost as bad as her inability to show up on time,

it was seen clearly by Jeremy whose perception is almost as good as Lacy.

 Is something wrong he asked…

Claire hurriedly replied no, fully aware that her saying no that quickly has led to the air to feel more awkward, as she turns to leave that was when she came.

And there comes Lacy, with her sweet smile and eyes that shines in the dark asking her to come in, and she knows better than saying no to Lacy, she knows better, does she?

Did she enter because she doesn't want to say no or because of something else,

does she want to see if Lacy is also struggling to keep up appearances, you can see her intentions plainly through her face,

she is clearly hoping that Lacy is not as good as she seems, hoping she is falling apart, hoping that there are cracks on the seemingly perfect glass, she is hoping that there is something wrong, to somehow settle the feeling of incompetence she has been having since the day she met Lacy.

But to no one surprise everything was perfect, as she stepped inside the house, everything was so clean that calling it clean would be an understatement,

she saw Stacey at the dining table eating, already dressed up, and if it was an unspoken rule not to look at Jere for more than two seconds, then not staring at Stacey is the other one, for mainy reasons and one of them being the drug that it is was Jealousy.

not a single mess made in the kitchen, and she could feel it the smile from Lacy standing right behind her, as if Lacy was mocking her,

that is pretty much the feeling imprinted on anyone who meets Lacy, the feeling that you can never be Lacy, you can never meet Lacy on the same level, and you will never be able to do the things Lacy has done, even if it's something as simple as drinking a cup of tea, after all who can compete with Lacy.

Have a seat Lacy said, as she was directed to the dining table. She could feel it when Lacy gave her something to drink, she could taste it in the water, she could,

Claire has never been one to feel jealous of others, but she just could not help herself anytime she looks at Lacy she just keeps questioning herself, how do I look ? , how is my hair ? after all they are both mothers but one seems to be better than the other.

so what do you think of the drug called jealousy, you never know when you take it, you never know when it starts being effective, and how to stop, because after the first sniff you get hooked.

do you believe it's her fault or Lacy's? After all she is the reason they took the drug in the first place.
