Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – Awakening

It was just another ordinary morning. Orion Duskbane was hurrying to his job, muttering under his breath.

"Oh man, I'm going to be late again. If I don't hurry, my boss will fire me for sure!"

He dashed down the street, too distracted to notice the traffic light. Without thinking, he crossed the road while it was green for vehicles. A sudden blaring horn echoed—

BANG!

The world went dark.

---

When Orion opened his eyes again, he was lying in a spacious, luxurious bedroom. The kind of place no ordinary office worker could ever afford in their lifetime. He slowly sat up, clutching his head.

"What… happened? I remember running for the office, and then—"

Before he could finish the thought, the door creaked open. A woman in a black-and-white maid outfit entered. She looked at him for a moment, then spoke calmly.

"Miss will be here once she finishes her work. You may prepare yourself in the meantime."

Without another word, she left the room.

Orion blinked, stunned.

"A maid outfit? In my room? What is this—some kind of prank?"

As he tried to make sense of it, a metallic chime suddenly rang in his ears.

Ding! Ding!

> System awakening in process…

Host detected. Binding with host…

Binding complete. Host is confirmed mortal. Dispensing Novice Lottery Package.

The messages echoed one after another. Orion froze, then widened his eyes in disbelief.

"A system?! This… this is the legendary system transmigrators always get!"

He immediately fell to his knees.

"Truck-kun! I don't believe in God or Buddha, but I believe in you!"

After his brief prayer, he eagerly checked the system interface.

"So it's true… I've been transmigrated into another world! And I've awakened a system! Soon, I'll conquer this world and rise to the top—Ha! Ha! Ha!"

But before his delusions of grandeur could grow any further, a cold mechanical voice cut through his thoughts.

> Host, you are dreaming too much. You are still only a mortal.

The words struck him like a bucket of ice water. Orion's smug smile froze on his face.

"…Huh?"
