Chapter 100 - Chapter 99: A Genius Idea

"Master Jiraiya already considers Mount Myoboku his second home, so it's normal for him not to bring gifts when he comes home."

"This is my first time here, and I've come to learn and ask for guidance, so bringing some gifts is a matter of proper etiquette," Kageyama Kogetsu said with a sincere-looking smile.

"Hahaha, that's right, that's exactly it! Mount Myoboku is my other home!" Jiraiya placed his hands on his hips and laughed boisterously at the sky.

"You're a smooth talker, young man, and very polite. I like you," Fukasaku said with a smiling compliment.

Of course. I'm always like this before I lose my temper. After all, I'm a quality youth, raised under the red flag and grown in the spring breeze!

The two humans and one frog walked to a stone table and chairs under a waterfall and sat down.

Kageyama Kogetsu formed a hand seal and summoned several sealing scrolls, then unsealed them to reveal a dazzling array of food.

"Here, don't be shy. Help yourselves," Kageyama Kogetsu invited warmly.

If they ate their fill, they wouldn't have to eat the all-bug feast.

Jiraiya had the same thought. Although he was used to it, he still preferred human food.

The two humans and one frog feasted heartily...

By the time Shima arrived with her dishes, the two humans were already full, though the frog had saved some room.

After they had eaten and drunk their fill and rested for a moment, Fukasaku began to explain the principles of Senjutsu...

Naruto, who wasn't good with theory, couldn't understand and preferred to learn through physical sensation and practice. Kageyama Kogetsu, however, understood it easily.

However, Kogetsu deliberately didn't make it seem too exaggerated. He was a genius at learning Senjutsu, yes, but not to the point of being a prodigy or a monster.

Even so, it only took Kageyama Kogetsu four days to learn Senjutsu. A genius like Naruto had taken seven or eight days.

Despite being mentally prepared, Jiraiya was still hit hard by this, almost to the point of depression!

Kageyama Kogetsu did not learn the unique Senjutsu of Mount Myoboku.

This was because many of the Senjutsu from the three great sage regions required unique biological structures to perform. Naruto couldn't do them, and Jiraiya had to rely on Fukasaku and Shima to perform them.

Just because he couldn't learn them didn't mean he couldn't use them as a reference. The sound-based genjutsu of Mount Myoboku was certainly something special.

In addition to learning Senjutsu, Kageyama Kogetsu also signed his name on the Mount Myoboku summoning scroll.

Kageyama Kogetsu hadn't requested it; Mount Myoboku had offered it.

After learning Senjutsu, Kageyama Kogetsu stayed on Mount Myoboku for two more days before leaving. Jiraiya remained to further refine his Senjutsu.

A toad from Mount Myoboku transported Kageyama Kogetsu to the labyrinthine outskirts of the mountain, where Kogetsu summoned his golden eagle and rode away.

Looking down from the sky, the farther he got from Mount Myoboku, the harsher the environment became.

There wasn't a speck of green on the land. The mountains and basins were barren, exuding an air of death. The two great catastrophes from a thousand years ago had left the planet with a long, long road to natural recovery...

Kageyama Kogetsu opened a black and red spatial gate and stepped through, arriving directly in the Land of Fire.

A spatial jump of this distance would have put some strain on him before, but now it was effortless.

Using the contact information that Orochimaru had sent back to Konoha via snake after his injuries had healed, Kogetsu contacted Orochimaru, confirmed his location, and headed straight there.

...

In the central part of the Land of Rivers, deep in a mist-shrouded mountain.

Kageyama Kogetsu arrived through space, and as he descended from mid-air, his Tenseigan scanned the area from above, quickly pinpointing the location of Orochimaru's base.

The Tenseigan possessed all the abilities of the Byakugan, but greatly enhanced. Ordinary barriers couldn't block its prying eyes.

Avoiding the warning barriers set up around the base's perimeter, Kageyama Kogetsu silently infiltrated the dark, damp base and went straight to the room where Orochimaru was.

There were two people in the room. One was Orochimaru, dressed in a goose-yellow kimono with a large purple sash.

The other was a child, who looked to be six or seven years old. He had handsome features, two red dots between his eyebrows, and was dressed in a small goose-yellow kimono with a small purple sash.

The two of them were sitting in chairs, each reading a scroll.

"Yo, it hasn't been that long. How did you suddenly get a son, Master Orochimaru?"

The teasing voice suddenly echoed in the room, startling the two occupants!

However, Orochimaru quickly relaxed. The handsome young boy swiftly raised his right hand and shot five bone bullets towards the source of the voice...

Kageyama Kogetsu, now visible, stood his ground. With a casual wave of his sleeve, he swept the bone bullets aside.

"The little guy is quick to react," Kageyama Kogetsu said with a chuckle.

"Kimimaro, stop. It's an acquaintance."

A hoarse, low voice sounded, and Kimimaro immediately ceased his attack.

"As expected of you, Kogetsu-kun. Not only did you arrive so quickly, but you also managed to infiltrate this place without a sound," Orochimaru said with a half-smile, his interest piqued.

Kageyama Kogetsu lightly stomped his right foot. Without even forming a hand seal, the stones on the ground rose and shaped themselves into a square stone chair.

"How's the research I requested coming along?" Kageyama Kogetsu sat down, crossing his legs.

"There's been some progress on both fronts, but funds are running low."

"Funding is no problem. Here's three hundred million ryo. If it's not enough, ask me for more. But next time, I must see results." With a wave of his hand, several leather suitcases appeared on the ground.

"This should be enough for now. I'll send you the results as soon as they're ready," Orochimaru said with a faint smile.

"Mm. You're quite lucky, to have run into and brought back the last descendant of the Kaguya clan."

"Indeed, I was lucky to find a very suitable vessel for my reincarnation," Orochimaru said bluntly, without any concealment.

Hearing this, Kimimaro was not afraid at all. Instead, he looked honored, which showed that Orochimaru's brainwashing techniques were certainly effective.

"He's not the most suitable. Master Orochimaru, you're still not thinking outside the box. Your thinking is a bit rigid," Kageyama Kogetsu said, shaking his head.

Kimimaro's face showed a hint of indignation, but he didn't dare to make any provocative moves.

"Oh? What do you mean?" Orochimaru gave Kimimaro a look to calm him down.

"Although I'm not sure about the specifics of your reincarnation jutsu, possessing someone else's body can't be easy, can it?"

"Indeed. Based on the current research progress, there are still some side effects."

"In that case, why don't you vigorously develop cloning technology and create clones based on yourself with weak self-awareness?"

"If your genetic engineering technology is strong enough, you can just transplant any Kekkei Genkai you want onto them."

Orochimaru's eyes lit up. The armrest of his chair was instantly crushed to powder. He leaned forward, his face full of amazement. "A genius idea!"

"If it's a clone identical to myself, not only would the difficulty of possession plummet, but the side effects would also be minimized."

"Transplanting Kekkei Genkai using genetic engineering is very difficult, and it will be hard to clear all the technical hurdles in a short time, but we can work in that direction."

"Before the genetic technology matures, we can use other methods as a substitute."

"I remember Hiruko once proposed the concept of the Chimera Technique. I wonder how well it's been perfected by now. It seems I'll have to keep an eye on Hiruko's whereabouts."

"If everything goes smoothly, as a thank you for the inspiration and previous help from Kogetsu-kun, I'm willing to share it with you for free."

Kageyama Kogetsu smiled. "Then I'll have made a huge profit."

He wouldn't need those things himself, but he could consider giving them to those close to him to both increase their strength and extend their lifespan.

"Here's what you wanted. It contains the location of Ryuchi Cave and some basic information."

Orochimaru opened his mouth wide and spat out a pine-green scroll. He caught it with his hand and casually tossed it over...
