Chapter 177 - Hydra Home: Scarlet Witch's Ultimatum

Red Skull sat in the giant conference room, converted from the White House lobby, behind him a massive HYDRA flag banner. Scarlet light projected onto his mask, making him look even more menacing. He tapped his fingers lightly on the table, his gaze fixed on the battle screen, his tone filled with barely suppressed excitement: "Interesting, truly interesting. What are these freaks? Weren't all the superheroes purged? How did such a group of people suddenly appear?"

He slowly stood up and walked steadily to the screen, the image frozen at the moment Dominic's heat rays sliced through the Gargantos tentacles. He laughed softly, his voice full of malice: "Who allowed you to intrude on my territory? However, this girl—" He zoomed in on the screen, stopping on America Chavez's face, "—looks exceptionally special."

Two low knocks sounded on the door, which then slowly opened. Arnim Zola slowly walked in, holding a thick analysis report. His mechanical body emitted a slight hum, and the light screen on his face displayed complex data charts: "The report is complete, Commander. This girl may possess the ability to travel The Multiverse. The energy fluctuations within her body are highly consistent with previous spatial anomalies."

The light in Red Skull's eyes grew more intense. He slowly turned to look at Zola, his tone revealing unconcealed ambition: "Traveling The Multiverse? Her ability is the final piece of my puzzle towards supreme rule. Capture her, and I will control all Worlds. I will make all Universes pledge allegiance to HYDRA."

Zola lowered his head, his tone respectful: "I have used the Space Stone to distort New York's magnetic field; she has nowhere to escape."

Red Skull walked back to his high-backed chair, seating himself gently, his fingers tapping on the armrest. His voice was low and sinister: "Very good. This is the era of HYDRA. I will let all Universes know who the true ruler is."

Just as his triumphant laughter hadn't faded, a scarlet portal suddenly appeared in the center of the room, as if tearing through the barrier of space. A bare foot slowly stepped across the threshold, landing on the cold marble floor of the White House, leaving a scarlet light trail.

Wanda slowly stepped out of the portal, her hair disheveled, her face marked by weariness but carrying an undeniable sternness. Her tattered scarlet robe seemed to wrap her figure like a biting storm. Her gaze swept around the room, landing on Red Skull and Arnim Zola, her voice cold: "Are you the power in this World? I am requisitioning you to help me capture that girl."

Red Skull's brow furrowed slightly, then the corner of his mouth lifted into a sneer: "Do you know who you are speaking to? This is HYDRA's territory, not your charity ground."

Wanda's gaze sharpened, red light pulsed between her palms, and the air filled with intense pressure. She spoke slowly, her voice carrying undeniable dominance: "I don't need your consent. If you don't cooperate, there is only one outcome for you."

Red Skull's face instantly turned grim. He waved his hand and pressed the emergency button on his chair. Immediately, dense footsteps sounded from outside the door, accompanied by the loading of automatic weapons. He said coldly: "Zola, summon the Winter Soldier and my personal guard Death Soldiers. This is our territory, not a place for her to run wild."

Zola nodded, a line of command code flashing on his mechanical body's screen. His voice remained calm: "Understood, I will notify them now."

The door was suddenly pushed open, and a group of fully armed HYDRA soldiers filed in, their muzzles aimed directly at Wanda. Immediately after, several Death Soldiers and the Winter Soldier followed, surrounding the center of the room.

Wanda's gaze remained indifferent. She gently raised her hand, and the air instantly became viscous. The soldiers' movements froze, and their weapons were crushed as if by an invisible force, metal fragments scattering across the floor.

Red Skull stood up and roared: "Fire!"

But no one could move. The only sound in the room was Wanda's cold laughter. Red light surged wildly around her, gradually condensing into a massive scarlet halo. She slowly stepped forward, red energy waves sweeping through the entire room like a tide, accompanied by a deafening explosion. The soldiers' figures were violently thrown back.

Wanda looked at Red Skull, her voice calm but carrying a deep threat: "I will only say this once: help me, or disappear."

Red Skull's hand was raised high, his movement swift and decisive, then suddenly clenched into a fist. The soldiers who had flooded into the room were about to act, but the next instant, they all stopped, their eyes filled with confusion and unwillingness. Red Skull lowered his head in thought for a moment, an unfathomable calculation flashing in his eyes. He slowly looked up and showed Wanda a smile full of menace: "Everyone has their needs, don't they? You want the girl, and I... need certain returns."

The red light in Wanda's eyes suddenly flickered. Before Red Skull could finish speaking, several of the soldiers behind him were lifted by an invisible force, struggling painfully as they hung in mid-air. She said softly: "My patience is limited. A trade? Are you teaching me how to get what I want?"

Red Skull's smile stiffened slightly, but he quickly adjusted his tone, his gaze still sharp: "What you need is a path, and I control every crack in this area. New York—we rule it. I can help you find her, but only on one condition: you are not allowed to disrupt my plan."

Wanda tilted her head slightly, red light still pulsing at her fingertips. She sneered: "Alright, you've convinced me... for now." Her gaze was like a knife, sweeping over Red Skull's face. "Lead the way."

Red Skull suppressed his displeasure, a professional smile still on his lips. He waved for the soldiers to clear a path. He said coldly: "Let's go, my queen."

In the dilapidated sewer, the sewage emitted a pungent smell, and the moss on the walls glowed with a faint green light under the weak illumination. America Chavez stood in the middle of the water flow, pacing back and forth, her brows tightly furrowed, her fingers occasionally trembling.

"What is going on?" she complained in a low voice, trying to concentrate and open a portal. However, after several attempts, she still got nothing. Her brows furrowed deeper, and she impatiently kicked away a stone that had fallen on the ground.

Deadpool squatted not far away, his eyes sparkling through the slits of his mask. He watched America's struggle, then suddenly stood up and said in an exaggerated tone: "Aha! A typical superhero predicament! This is the legendary 'power loss phase,' a cliché moment essential to all superhero movies!"

America stopped moving and stared blankly at Deadpool: "Power... loss phase?"

Deadpool spread his hands and began talking loudly to himself in the sewer's echo: "Yes, my dear. Look at Iron Man 3, Tony didn't have his suit, he learned how to be a person! Thor, he lost his hammer, he learned responsibility! Even Spider-Man—whether it's Tobey, Garfield, or Holland—their powers have been stolen! Get it? Losing your powers is how you learn to grow! In a few more scenes, you'll regain your confidence, and then—boom! Re-emerge brilliantly and save the World!"

Logan stood nearby, lit a cigarette, and glanced coldly at Deadpool: "Could you be any louder? You're scaring away the sewer rats."

Deadpool turned his head and looked at Logan with an innocent expression: "Old Wolf, relax. This is a teaching moment, I'm training our future teammate." He then turned back to America and said earnestly, "You need to find your inner balance, take a deep breath, and tell yourself: I can do it! Then try again, okay?"

America folded her arms, her face clearly saying "Are you insane?". She said through gritted teeth: "Thank you for your advice, but I don't think it's helpful."

Venom's low voice came from inside Eddie, breaking the brief silence: "He is indeed a lunatic, but I like this lunatic. He makes me want to eat something, especially that rat." Eddie immediately widened his eyes and hissed: "Shut up, stop talking about eating, especially in here!"

Deadpool instantly turned his head and shouted, pointing at Eddie: "Look! The team's parent figure has appeared. He's in charge of complaining and stopping us from eating weird things, a perfect combination!" After saying that, he turned back to America, patted her shoulder, and said: "Trust me, join our team, and you'll learn a lot, especially how to deal with these old geezers."

Dominic had been standing not far away, watching his surroundings with cold eyes. His voice suddenly came from the darkness: "We don't have much time, some strange energy changes are happening here."

Logan narrowed his eyes, dropped his cigarette butt, and said in a low voice: "HYDRA?"

Dominic nodded, a red light flashing in his eyes for an instant: "Possibly worse."

The streets of New York had turned into a suffocating nightmare. HYDRA's symbol was everywhere, blood-Red Skull banners fluttering in the wind on every building. Pedestrians moved mechanically through the streets, each step as if bound by invisible chains. Every few meters, a squad of fully armed soldiers patrolled, their steps uniform, their faces expressionless, their eyes like cold-blooded machines. Drones circled low in the sky, cameras were visible everywhere, covering almost the entire city. Any attempt to hide would trigger a sharp alarm; everyone's life was suffocated by a crushing control.

In this silent order, a search team was operating on the streets. Armored vehicles drove by, kicking up clouds of dust, the soldiers' eyes vigilant, ready to pull the trigger at any moment. "Target characteristics locked," a Commander said coldly through a loudspeaker, "Initiate city-wide search, they must be found."

In the sewer, Dominic stood in the dim light, his silhouette casting deep shadows on the damp walls. Red light flashed in his pupils: "They're here. Battle is unavoidable."

Logan gritted his teeth, and metal claws popped from his knuckles with a crisp sound. He sneered: "Great, I could use some exercise."

"Not your battle," Dominic turned his head, his voice low but full of power, "I will draw all the fire. Your mission is to find a way to restore America's powers. That's the only way for us to leave."

Venom's voice came from inside Eddie, low and excited: "Fantastic! I love this kind of chaotic World, every bite tastes different." Eddie rolled his eyes and complained: "Please, can we try to survive first before discussing recipes?"

Deadpool squatted nearby, arms crossed, shaking his head: "Listen, I'm the Captain of this team, I should be calling the shots. Unfortunately, I'm not as foolish as Guardians of the Galaxy's Quill to always jump ahead and mess everything up. So—" He stood up, patted Dominic's shoulder, and said in an exaggerated tone, "Captain, you go ahead! We'll be behind you applauding and cheering you on, oh, and maybe share a cup of victory soup."

Logan glanced at him and snorted coldly: "You've said enough, 'Captain'. Don't forget we still need to find her powers—instead of listening to your nonsense."

"Yes, find the powers," America looked at everyone uneasily, a hint of panic in her voice, "But... what if they don't come back? I... I don't want to be a burden."

"A burden?" Dominic slowly turned around, looking into her eyes, his voice firm, "You are not a burden. Finding your powers is so you know how strong you are, not to prove that others are more important than you. Believe in yourself."

America swallowed and nodded, but her unease was still evident.

Deadpool snapped his fingers: "Exactly, kiddo, this is the classic growth arc! Don't worry, you're the protagonist, the writers won't kill you off—uh, probably." As soon as he finished speaking, Venom muttered in a low voice: "That guy can never say a normal sentence."

Heavy footsteps sounded from the street above, as if soldiers from the entire city were flooding towards this location. Dominic walked towards the end of the passage, the light hitting his back and stretching his silhouette unusually long. He said without looking back: "Get ready. The coming battle will be intense."

He walked out of the sewer step by step, sunlight falling on him. The muzzles of the surrounding soldiers were already aimed at him, and a cold command came from the loudspeaker: "Surrender immediately, or we will fire."

Dominic slowly looked up, the red light in his eyes gradually filling his entire pupils. He sneered: "I won't surrender, but I'll give you a chance—run."

An uneasy silence filled the air, the soldiers' fingers trembling on their triggers. Suddenly, a scorching red light shot out from Dominic's eyes, cutting through the sky and instantly burning a drone to ashes.

Gunfire erupted instantly, and Dominic's figure disappeared amidst the dust and flames.
