Chapter 10 - Challenging Order

On the mountaintop, the night shrouded the entire city, and a hint of chill permeated the air. Dominic stood at the edge of the peak, arms outstretched, as if embracing this World of darkness and freedom. He took a deep breath, a habitually arrogant smile on his face, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Hahaha, this is the World I want – unconstrained! Today I stand on this mountaintop, looking down on everything, and tomorrow I will try everything in this World that I haven't tried yet! All rules, all restrictions, go to hell! Why follow rules? If you don't live life to the fullest, you've lived in vain!" His voice echoed through the mountains, filled with endless ecstasy and abandon, as if he were the Master of this World.

Natasha stood not far away, the corner of her mouth slightly turned up, with a hint of an almost imperceptible smile. She was not intimidated by Dominic's arrogance; instead, she appeared more composed. She quietly watched Dominic, a hint of playfulness in her eyes, waiting for him to turn around.

Finally, Dominic stopped his wild laughter, turned around, and looked at Natasha, his gaze carrying provocation and disdain. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly, and a hint of cynical light flickered in his eyes: "You know, girl, you're different from those fools. Not only do you have the guts to chase me, but you also dare to stand here and don't seem scared at all. How interesting." His voice was flippant and challenging, as if testing Natasha's limits.

Natasha remained calm, smiling slightly, her tone relaxed and carrying a hint of teasing: "Oh, I know what you did at the Rose Nightclub... If you were judged by the law, you should be in prison by now. However, we covered up these things for you, which can be considered our little 'goodwill'."

Dominic raised an eyebrow. Upon hearing these words, his smile became even more arrogant, and a crazy, sarcastic light shone in his eyes. As if he had long anticipated Natasha's intentions, he laughed in feigned surprise: "Oh? So that's it. I thought you 'agents of justice' were here to arrest me. It seems... there's something interesting behind you. Do you want me to join your team? To become that high and mighty 'Hero'? Or are you saying, give me a bigger stage so I can have more fun?"

He paused, then his eyes became even colder, his voice carrying deep coldness and mockery: "But the problem is, I never like to be restrained. Any form of rule is useless to me. I hate being arranged, I hate being told what to do. Those so-called orders? They're just chains of restraint. You want to lock me up with these? Don't dream about it."

A hint of vigilance flashed in Natasha's eyes, but she remained calm. She tilted her head slightly, making a slightly provocative gesture, as if evaluating every word Dominic said. She knew this man before her was extraordinary and was well aware of his danger. But it was this danger that made her even more interested.

"I'm not forcing you to do anything," Natasha said slowly, her tone still carrying that composure and confidence, "I just think, perhaps we can 'get to know' each other first, understand each other... You know, sometimes, cooperation benefits both sides."

Hearing this, Dominic's smile became even more exaggerated, his eyes filled with provocation and playfulness. He shrugged slightly, making a casual gesture: "Get to know each other? Understand? Hahaha! You are truly interesting! What a pity, baby, I'm someone who does whatever I want. My rules are only set by myself, and no one can tell me what to do."

He leaned forward slightly, his eyes filled with provocation and wildness, his tone carrying a strong sense of sarcasm: "You and the people behind you—I know what you're planning. Want me to listen to you, obey your arrangements? Don't be naive, I'm not a good little dog that will listen."

After saying that, he turned his back and raised his hand to point into the distance, his voice still carrying contempt and mockery: "You can have me do anything you want, but... there's a condition. Have your Master behind you come and see me personally. Then, I'll tell him who is truly in control of everything."

In the monitoring room of S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters, the lights were dim, and the screens around flickered with images of global intelligence. On the large central screen, real-time footage from a pinhole camera on Natasha Romanoff was currently being projected. In the footage, Dominic stood on the mountaintop, his arrogant laughter echoing in the night sky, his figure looking particularly unrestrained in the darkness.

Nick Fury stood in front of the screen, his posture upright, his hands behind his back. A black eye patch covered one of his eyes, but the other eye was fixed on the screen, sharp light shining through. His expression was calm and focused, as if waiting for some important information. He stood quietly, occasionally glancing at Dominic's laughing face on the screen, his mind full of thoughts.

Maria Hill stood behind Nick, holding a thick folder in her hand. Her expression was serious, a hint of tension in her eyes. She had just finished a detailed report on Dominic and was now preparing to report the latest analysis to Nick. She cleared her throat slightly, her tone steady and professional: "Director, the psychological profiling team has just completed a comprehensive analysis report on Dominic. According to the team's conclusion, he is extremely dangerous, possessing not only superior physical abilities but also exhibiting extreme rebelliousness and unconstrained traits psychologically."

She paused, opened the folder, and began to report in detail: "Dominic has a strong narcissistic tendency; he cannot accept any form of authority or restraint. His behavior at the Rose Nightclub shows that he not only lacks any sense of morality but is also full of interest in violence, even enjoying the pleasure it brings. The team believes that his behavior has gone beyond the scope of conventional criminal psychology and is more like a complete contempt and mockery of rules."

Maria continued to report, a hint of worry in her tone: "Furthermore, we have found that his desire for power is extremely strong, but he does not pursue power in the traditional sense; instead, he wants to prove his strength by disrupting order. As shown in his conversation with Natasha, he has no respect for rules and order, even openly provoking them. The psychological profiling team believes that such a person is difficult to control and difficult to restrain by conventional means. He is extremely dangerous and could cause unpredictable destruction at any time."

Nick listened to Maria's report, still remaining silent, but a hint of solemnity was subtly revealed in his eyes. He lowered his head and looked at Dominic on the screen, contemplating all the possibilities and potential risks.

After Maria Hill finished her report, she stood there quietly, waiting for Nick's reaction. She knew that for such an extremely dangerous and uncontrollable individual, the Director usually issued decisive orders. And this time, the Director's decision would be crucial.

Nick still didn't speak immediately, his brows slightly furrowed, a hint of deep thought flashing in his eyes. S.H.I.E.L.D. had dealt with many dangerous individuals, but Dominic clearly didn't fit any conventional category. He didn't pursue money, nor did he care about power; he just wanted to break all restraints and live life his own way. Such an enemy is far more difficult to deal with than anyone with clear motives.

After a moment of silence, Nick finally spoke, his voice low and calm: "Do not take action for now." His gaze remained fixed on Dominic on the screen, as if studying every movement, every expression of this man.

"We need more intelligence. Dominic is not just an ordinary threat; his background, abilities, and motives are unclear. And..." Nick paused, his tone becoming more serious, "I suspect there's a bigger problem behind him. Acting now might cause unnecessary conflict."

He turned to Maria, his eyes filled with deep thought: "Continue to track his every move, especially his connections with other forces. I don't want to act rashly before I have a complete grasp of the situation."

Maria nodded. Although she still had concerns about Dominic's danger, she had no doubt about Nick's judgment: "Understood. I will continue to arrange for the team to monitor his activities."
