Willow leaned back against the wall, giving him a hard, unyielding look.
"Can't or won't?"
"Both," Sylas sighed, his tone maddeningly casual.
Willow's frown deepened. Even though part of her still doubted Sage truly worked for him, she couldn't ignore the signs. The way Sage spoke to her that day, the strange familiarity, it all fit too well. And now Sylas wasn't even bothering to deny it.
"Then I'll clear you out myself," she said coldly.
Sylas chuckled, pulling another protein bar from his pocket.
"I'll still pry it out of your hands," he said smoothly.
Her breath caught for a second. That wasn't just a casual statement. It was a threat. But he looked so relaxed, as if he hadn't just promised to take something from her by force.
"Sylas, you—"
"Do you think Sage wanted to come to Nexus?" he interrupted softly. "No, Sunshine. She's my spy. She came to Nexus because of you."
Willow froze. Her heart slammed against her ribs. "Wha… what?"
