Indigo's eyes widened at the bluntness of the question, but she was already starting to get used to Willow's straightforwardness.
"I'm from the Zephross Faction," she said after swallowing. "And honestly, about staying there? I'm not really sure. Since I'm an Ascendant, there'll be plenty of opportunities for me. If something golden comes along, I don't think I'll need to stay tied to my faction."
Willow nodded slowly. "That's understandable. Our world is built on those. Opportunities, gains…"
"Exactly." Indigo breathed out, then glanced at her friend. "But as a Ranger, you're not bound by any faction rules. I think that's amazing."
Willow blinked in surprise, then gave a small smile. "It's the only good thing… and the bad thing. We're easy targets. But yes, we're not bound by rules."
"Exactly." Indigo grinned, her face lighting up between bites of food.
