When there were enough people, she was given the option of what to pick: a food stand, a performer, a ride operator, a ride mechanic, or a visitor. Luckily, the game seemed to give them time to analyze each role. At food stands, they had to run the stand until the carnival closed. They could take breaks, but they might have less than 5 minutes, with how chaotic the stands can become. Performers could range from clowns to just straight-up musicians. The point is, unlike the other roles, they have to keep the crowd entertained, which seems like an extremely harsh role. something she definitely was not taking since it not only took talent but extreme charisma and confidence. Then there was the ride operator, and here's the thing. They could study the manual, but besides running the rides, they also had to determine if a ride needed to be fixed, which is where the ride mechanic came into play. It didn't take her long to decide on the food stand role, since all she had to do was keep the food hot and coming out fast, as well as tasty. Also, because visitors had a higher chance of being killed off by NPCs, as well as they were the only ones who not only didn't have a safe area, but could access anywhere in the park. There were multiple Foodstand individual roles, so she chose Floater. It meant she could swap which stand she was running based on the number of customers and staff of both NPCs, as well as the players.
The moment she loaded in, she figured out pretty quickly she was the only player who picked Foodstand, as it seemed everyone else, besides a couple of people, picked visitors. She could see five players picked performers, one ride operator, as well as one ride mechanic. That seemed a bit outrageous since it meant the visitors could be put in more danger. Since the NPCs might be prone to ignoring ride malfunctions that could injure visitors if a player were on the ride. Either way it went, she figured out she could quickly swap uniforms. The NPCs seemed pleased that she was going the distance as far as dressing up to make NPC visitors smile. While she looked a lot like a retro diner waiter, the color would change to match the stand she was working at. She just figured, may as well have fun with it. She kinda felt excited as the NPCs actually showed her how to use their machines and fix their menu food, including cotton candy, corn dogs, candy apples, funnel cake, popcorn, various fried food, slushies, snow cones, as well as various food and drinks one would find at a normal carnival. The NPCs seemed to adore her since she acted her part in the horror game. The NPCs notified her when rush and slow hours were so she could actually take a 20-minute break to enjoy free games and rides. She went to play some games first, since she would rather trust the NPC ride operators than human ones that might have a grudge. She played some of her favorite games, and the game stall NPCs were surprised she turned down the game prizes. She explained that she just wanted to have fun, and besides, she didn't pay for tickets to play the game. It seemed rather unfair to walk away with prizes. As she was walking, she noticed a weird totem thing; it seemed out of place, so she thought someone was littering. She dismantled the totem and threw it away. unknowingly working on the first objective. She found about five more that she dismantled and threw away. She came back early, wanting nothing more than to enjoy the scent of the food and help make several NPCs smile.
After rush hour, she was given another break that she took to run some food and drinks out to the ride operators. The player operator was missing, and the ride was shut down. So she moved on to the next ride operator. Each one seemed thrilled when she brought them food. The last one was an old man with whom she had a nice conversation with till she brought up the fact that one of the rides was closed. He seemed scared as Merp clarified there wasn't a ride mechanic working on it as far as she could see, and the ride just had a closed sign on it. She watched his ride as he ran to the empty ride. He came back thirty minutes later with the carnival boss, as she was asked questions. The Boss thanked her and disappeared strangely after that. As she was heading back, she noticed a weird spray-painted symbol on some of the ride's support beams. So she grabbed some cleaning supplies and removed the symbols since they seemed rather adult for a carnival where children were present. She swung by the closed ride afterwards and saw a new NPC ride operator. She still brought the New ride operator food since she didn't want him feeling left out. She returned later than intended and told her supervisor that there were adult symbols graffiti on the side of some of the ride support pillars. She felt like she had to remove them so it wouldn't cause an issue in the future.
Once it turned late, she was shown where she would sleep, since the stall workers had their own RV. Merp decided to stay up, deep cleaning the stalls for tomorrow. The Bossman was surprised to see her up. When she explained she was planning to deep clean and make sure all the supplies were refilled before sunrise, he gave her a weird lanyard to wear for her own safety. Either way it went, she worked hard. As she took the trash out, she noticed some burning and put it out quickly, unaware she was completing the game objectives in record time. The Totems were to set a sort of pentagram, the burning circle around the carnival was incomplete, and the symbols on the ride pillars were removed.
She was surprised when she woke up the next morning to "Main Objective Completed! Please finish side quests and complete the hidden objective!" However, the game seemed not seem to say anything about what these side quests and hidden objectives were. What she did notice is that apparently failing to act in character or in role could cause you to either get killed or kicked from the game instance, as it seemed both the ride mechanic and operator players were "fired" from their jobs.
