Chapter 3 - 03: Gringotts

Professor McGonagall took a sip of her tea.

"Do either of you have any more questions about magic and wizards?"

Lucien and his aunt exchanged glances, then both shook their heads.

Both of them readily accepted the existence of magic.

As a transmigrator, Lucien naturally knew of it from the moment he received his Hogwarts acceptance letter.

Penelope, having witnessed Professor McGonagall transform from a cat into a human, the anomaly in Lucien's room, and Professor McGonagall's method of restoring it, was convinced of magic's existence.

While his aunt chatted with Professor McGonagall, Lucien checked his current panel:

✨———✨

White Magic: S

Dark Arts: SS+

Defense: S+

Transfiguration: SSS

Potions: A

Alchemy: A+

Magic Power: SS (To be unlocked)

✨———✨

Lucien's gaze moved to the bottom, noticing the "To be unlocked" under Magic Power, and he began to communicate with the system:

"Why is only the Magic Power talent still locked?"

Given the host's current physical strength, it is insufficient to support such an increase in Magic Power.

Please first find a suitable item to channel and release the Magic Power through.

A suitable item to release Magic Power?

If he had to search for it in this wizarding world…

Lucien suddenly thought of something.

It was something every wizard would encounter, something most compatible with oneself, and something that could channel Magic Power.

"System, does a wand—this world's wand—meet the conditions?"

The wand needs to be highly compatible with the host, and the strength of the wand's materials must also be considered.

Hearing the system's reply, Lucien relaxed slightly.

There was a wand shop called Ollivander's in Diagon Alley, with countless wands. Surely he could find one suitable for him?

"Professor McGonagall, when shall we go to purchase the necessary magical items?"

Lucien asked sincerely.

"Also, regarding the Transfiguration you just mentioned, I am very interested. May I learn related knowledge in advance?"

He knew that the older Professor McGonagall, the cat-lady in front of him, was a master in the field of Transfiguration, responsible for teaching the subject at Hogwarts, making her the best person to ask about Transfiguration knowledge.

Lucien had to perfectly master Transfiguration within one year to repay the "Loki's Mask" loan.

But he didn't even know the basic concepts of Transfiguration yet, so he had to seize the time.

Hearing Lucien's question, Professor McGonagall smiled.

It was not in vain that she had emphasized the wonder and uniqueness of Transfiguration just now; the child was indeed interested.

And he even asked to learn in advance—what a studious child!

Putting down her teacup, Professor McGonagall said calmly:

"I'm glad you're interested in Transfiguration. Coincidentally, I teach the Transfiguration course at Hogwarts."

"And to answer your other question, we'll go to Diagon Alley now to purchase items. You can buy everything you need there."

The three of them stood up at the same time.

Penelope gave an instruction, and the servant waiting outside quickly entered and handed Lucien a suitcase.

During their previous conversation, Professor McGonagall had reminded Lucien to prepare some Muggle currency to exchange for Galleons in the wizarding world.

McGonagall placed her hand on Lucien's shoulder and softly reminded him:

"This will be a bit uncomfortable, but it will be over quickly."

Snap~!

From Penelope's perspective, the two of them disappeared abruptly, swirling like water in a flushing toilet.

After a brief blur of light, Lucien and Professor McGonagall appeared in a small alley.

Professor McGonagall glanced at Lucien, noticed his calm expression, and felt a little surprised.

"People usually feel dizzy or even vomit when they first try Apparition. You adapted very quickly."

Lucien rubbed his temples, his dark green eyes narrowing slightly.

This should be the physical change brought by Loki's Mask. I had just finished integrating when Professor McGonagall arrived, and I hadn't had time to explore my new state.

Ugh, why do I always feel an urge to ...turn that passerby into a baboon?

Could this be a side effect of my Transfiguration talent?

Did Loki's Mask also affect my personality a little? I remember Loki also has the title of God of Mischief…

Unaware of what Lucien was thinking, McGonagall assumed he was adjusting to the after-effects of Apparition, so she waited patiently for him to recover.

"Sorry, Professor, I was a little distracted."

Lucien stopped his wandering thoughts.

"It's alright."

Professor McGonagall shook her head and led Lucien toward a rather dilapidated-looking pub.

The Leaky Cauldron.

Passing through the noisy patrons, the two walked to the back of the pub, arriving at a dead end enclosed by three walls.

Only a lonely trash can stood on the ground.

Professor McGonagall took out her wand and pointed it at a slightly sunken brick.

"Remember, three bricks up from the trash can, two bricks across, and then…"

As she spoke, Professor McGonagall tapped the brick twice with her wand.

A magical scene unfolded: starting from that brick, the surrounding bricks recessed, protruded, flipped, and shifted, eventually forming a stone archway.

Through this archway, a bustling street stretched before them.

Various shops lined the street, selling a bewildering array of goods.

Lucien turned his head, looking at the bubbling potion cauldrons, the owls occasionally flapping their wings, and the clothes in the display windows automatically waving their sleeves to greet passersby…

Even with prior mental preparation, Lucien couldn't help but feel surprised and excited when he truly stepped into the wizarding world.

Seeing Lucien's reaction, Professor McGonagall smiled:

"We'll go exchange Galleons first, then you can browse these shops at your leisure."

McGonagall led Lucien to Gringotts to exchange Muggle currency for Galleons.

Lucien suddenly thought of something and asked Professor McGonagall:

"Professor, was that trash can earlier enchanted so it couldn't be moved?"

If some busybody or drunkard moved the trash can, how would people later find that specific brick? Would they have to try each one?

Professor McGonagall's lips curved into a slight smile.

"You observed very carefully. That trash can is not only immovable but also unaffected by Transfiguration or other magic."

"Indeed, there have been mischievous young wizards or drunkards who tried to move or destroy that trash can, but they all failed."

As they spoke, they arrived in front of Gringotts.

Lucien surveyed Gringotts' grand décor, feeling that its style was out of place with the other shops in Diagon Alley.

Should he say it lived up to its name as the only bank in the wizarding world? It exuded an aura of wealth from top to bottom.

Many goblins moved about inside Gringotts.

They had pointed ears, short stature, were intelligent, but also greedy.

Thinking that these goblins controlled the flow of funds in the wizarding world, Lucien couldn't help but grumble inwardly.

Wizards actually entrusted their fortunes to goblins? Those not of our kind are bound to have different intentions. Aren't they afraid of having their economic lifeline strangled?

Oh, right, goblins are not allowed to carry wands, so they are already suppressed by human wizards in terms of strength.

Indeed, a hard fist is the hard truth.

Soon, a goblin came to attend to Lucien and Professor McGonagall.

"Is a new student in need of exchanging Galleons?"

The goblin, in a high-pitched voice, introduced the currency exchange rules:

"The exchange rate between Pounds and Galleons is 5:1. One Galleon equals 17 Sickles, which equals 493 Knuts."

Lucien was beyond complaining about this strange currency exchange rate; having lived in Britain for over ten years, he could only get used to it.

"The annual limit for exchanging Pounds for Galleons is 100 Galleons."

"Of course, there is no limit if you exchange gold."

Gold was hard currency in both the Muggle and wizarding worlds.

After completing the explanation, the goblin looked at Lucien with anticipation, a hint of greed flashing in his eyes.

In his decades of working at Gringotts, he had seen too many customers and could tell at a glance who was rich and who was poor.

And this handsome human youth in front of him clearly came from an impressive family; the scent of money couldn't be hidden!

Lucien said no more and directly handed the suitcase to the goblin.

He just wanted to quickly buy a wand and then more books on magical knowledge.

The heavy weight of the suitcase delighted the goblin, who skillfully opened it.

Yes!

It was indeed filled with gold.
