Peter reached Reddington, bound in a chair, his face bruised, his voice a velvet purr.
"A rescue, Peter? I'm positively charmed."
"What's Garrick after, Red?"
Peter cut the ropes, his tone sharp.
"Secrets that could burn empires, my boy."
Reddington's smile was cryptic, his eyes glinting.
Peter and Dembe took out guards, the System guiding.
Obfuscate's toll hit, black spots dancing in Peter's vision.
They escaped through a back exit, gunfire cracking. Peter's vision flickered, but the System kept him steady.
In a stolen car, Reddington glanced at Peter, his voice soft.
"You're a rare breed, Peter. But trust is a dangerous game."
"Says the king of dangerous games."
Peter's reply was dry, his vision clearing.
At a diner, Dembe nodded to Peter, his voice low.
"You have my respect, Wells."
"Don't go soft on me."
Peter grinned, the Cabal's shadow looming.
In a phone call, Liz's voice was earnest.
"You risked everything for Red. Why?"
"He's our key, Liz."
His tone was calm, but Garrick's Cabal link gnawed at him.
The rescue deepened Peter's alliance with Reddington, but the Ledger's importance and Obfuscate's toll warned of darker costs.
