Luna writhed in Jamie's grip like a feral cat, her teeth clenched, every muscle tense. But no matter how she twisted, Jamie's arm locked around her waist like iron.
"Stop squirming, kid. If this is the best you've got, you'll never break free from me."
Jamie muttered, lips quirking into a smug grin.
That only made Luna glare harder. A low growl bubbled out of her throat, rough and animalistic, echoing down the broken scrap-lined path.
Her pride screamed at her to keep fighting, but her reason told her she was wasting her strength. Reluctantly, she went still, but her growling didn't stop.
Jamie rolled her eyes.
"Annoying little wolf."
Verus, trailing behind, cast a worried look over his shoulder.
The thundering boom of the junkyard's collapse still echoed in his ears, and the thick mana in the air made his skin prickle.
"Are we… really just going to leave him?"
His voice was low but laced with unease.
Jamie didn't even glance back.
