As I read Velnessa her memories, I feel like I now know some stuff which I shouldn't.
She did introduce herself as the princess of the demon world, but she is also their heir.
Taking control of such a person is a little....
Well, before she gets too mad, let me put restrictions on her. This way, she cannot hurt me at all.
I softly put Velnessa down with her head on my lap.
The next morning Velnessa slowly opened her eyes.
"Huh? I slept?"
Once she notices her position, with me giving her a lap pillow, she instantly sat upright and got some distance between us.
Putting her hands to the sides of her heads, she feels a headache trying to remember what happened.
Suddenly she brandishes her battleaxe and swings towards me.
But right before it could hit me, her body froze.
"What did you do to me? You attacked me before!"
"I put a little restriction on you to avoid a fight. You see, your delicious blood made me lose my rationality?"
"Why did you say that with a questionmark?"
"Because I basically have no control of it myself. Whenever I see a creature which wields powerful magic, my body yearns for their blood."
I make her let go of her battleaxe, which does not go unnoticed by her.
"And why can you control me?"
She looks very angry.
Well, for a matter of fact, I can also tell her emotions so I know she is very angry.
"Well, once my rationality returned, I noticed that you had a lack of blood. So I tried to give you mine to save you?"
Velnessa facepalmed.
"So basically you have enslaved me."
"Huh?"
"If a vampire puts her own blood inside someone else, they become a vessel for them. Basically, all the blood in my body is not mine anymore.
But I guess this comes with some merits as well, I can now also use blood magic, as well as having various benefits to health. I cannot get sick anymore and my physical strength has practically doubled. Which is quite ridiculous since I was partly dragon as well."
Once she listed the merits, the angry feelings slightly faded away.
"By the way, I think it should be better for you to hide your ancestor characteristics."
"And those are?"
"You really were born a couple of days ago. So let me give you a rundown. Remember when I said that ancestors were the only ones with 100% pure genes?"
I nod in understanding.
"Technically there is one race which does not have this. Humans. And old stories write about how they started with two ancestors, which were 100% pure. These two procreated, and the results were a civilisation of 100% pure racial beings.
Humankind had differences theirselves between each individual ofcourse, but that is because the basic human trait is adaptability to survive pretty much anywhere."
Once again, I nod in understanding.
"Now, this civilisation came across an ancestor for a different race. A demon.
The demon had to procreate as well, so, he started a family with a human. The results were demons with 50/50 genes. To this day, these are called demon royalty."
"What does it mean to be royalty?"
"Pureness in genes simply said.
Besically, the more genes of a race you have, the more positive traits someone would have which are part of said race. And the less purity someone has, the more generalised traits someone would have.
100% pure genes is an ancestor, 50% is royalty. 25% are nobility and 12.5% are considered normal demons. Below the 6.25% we would consider someone far related, and usually the other part of someones genes almost always consists of human genes. That is because humans their adaptability means they can procreate with any humanoid race. But other races have more difficulties procreating with one another. Can you guess the reason why?"
"They lack the trait to do so?"
"That is part of the reason. The other reason is magic power. Every race has magic prowess which is kind of race exclusive. And other races their magic powers clash with one another, fighting for dominance if a new child is born. This usually ends up in unfortunate drawbacks. Usually beings not surviving childbirth, and if they get lucky to survive, they might struggle controlling their powers or urges. Humans have almost no magic power, and are therefore always born with the magic powers of the non-human race one of their parents are."
"And what about you? Being partly dragon?"
"I guess I got lucky. I was the 7th attempt."
Bein born in demon royalty must be rough I guessed.
"Well then back to your traits. Wings are exclusive to ancestors. Can you show them to me?"
I unfold my wings.
"My, those are quite beautiful."
Vanessa slightly caressed my bat-like wings.
And I slightly tremble.
"Please, that is a little sensitive..."
Vanessa shows an ever slightly sadistic smile which does not go unnoticed by me.
"Stop it!"
And as if she cannot go against my order, she sits upright, not movjng a muscle.
"Ehm, Akashiro?"
"Just call me Shiro. That would be easier."
"Alright, but.. I cannot move. Please do something about that."
"Hooh. Just now you were having fun, I guess it is my turn?"
I now show Vanessa a sadistic smile, and she feels cold chills running down her spine.
"Well, maybe later. Please continue the lesson sensei."
"Sensei?"
Vanessa notices that she can move again.
"Well, back to your traits I guess. Fortunately, vampires are a secluded bunch. They are almost obsessed with their 'purity', so they don't often procreate. This means that while they live close to anywhere, be it human or demonic continents, they are not too common to see.
Their traits are also well known. Blood magic is exclusive for this race, except if someone becomes a slave to a vampire. Higher purity means a significant physical boost. They have slightly pointed ears, but your seem to be a little more like small elf ears compared to the ones I am used to seeing on vampires. Well, we can blame this on genes impurity if others see them.
Weirdly enough, any vampire below 25% purity gains a weakness to daylight. That is why 25% and above are considered daywalkers.
On the other side, anything below 12.5% don't need blood as their only sustenance anymore, and can eat normal food."
"Why do you know so much about vampires?"
"I am the heir of the demon king. Ofcourse I have studied about them though...."
"You ran away from home.."
Something I saw once I read her memories before.
Vanessa became slightly annoyed.
"How much did you see?"
"Nothing too much, but the most important memory seems easier for me to read."
Vanessa sighed once again.
"I don't know. I will probaly return at one point. But constant preperation to take over my fathers position, even though he is an ancestor and basically has no lifespan. It felt so useless to me.
So I ran away...
But enough about me. Back to your traits!"
I hide my wings one again.
"Just introduce yourself as a daywalker. It should be fine. Likewise in human cities I introduce myself as a dragonoid. By the way, those sharp teeth are a trait for any vampire so. Don't worry about those."
I simply pulled the side of my lip and looked through Vanessa her vision and saw those sharp teeth.
"What are you doing?"
"Looking at my teeth."
"But you are showing them to me. Not looking at them yourself. Ah...."
Vanessa seems to understand now.
"Say, what else can you do?"
I am wondering now as well, so I try something.
/Vanessa?/
"Yes?"
Ah, so you heard it.
Vanessa now seems to give a difficult expression and closes her eyes.
"It is weird, I thought you called out to me but you did not talk."
"Well, I called you by controlling the blood in your brain. So you heard what I said."
"How does that even make sense?"
/I don't know, but it works regardless./
"Please don't do this for fun. It feels like I have no privacy."
"Well, technically..."
"I don't even want to hear it."
