Chapter 13: Recruiting Kakashi
Before Yamato could react in mid-air, he felt like he was flying, and the next moment, he met a pair of hexagonal, complex-patterned Sharingan, and his consciousness plunged into darkness.
Fugaku dispelled his Susanoo, and his large hand dissolved into specks of light.
Yamato, who had been caught in the genjutsu, lost his restraint and dropped to the ground with a thud; the giant tree sprouting from his shoulder snapped as it lost its Chakra supply.
Fugaku glanced at him twice, understanding the reason for Yamato's attack, and then turned to face Kakashi.
At this moment, Kakashi was sitting motionless against the wall, his eyes vacant, like someone who had lost all faith and was adrift.
Fugaku looked at him with interest, and seeing that Kakashi was unresponsive to his arrival, he spoke to himself, "Kakashi, how about a deal? After I become the Fifth Hokage, I can clear your father's name and restore his honor."
Hearing Fugaku's words, Kakashi's dim eyes grew brighter and brighter. When he heard that his father's honor could be restored, he eagerly agreed without even listening to Fu Yue's conditions: "Deal!"
Fugaku smiled slightly, unconcerned by Kakashi interrupting him, and continued, "In return, you must join my direct Anbu and work for me.
Since you agree, I'll give you a task now."
Might Guy watched Kakashi get up nimbly, his spirit and energy seemingly returning in an instant, and was momentarily stunned.
"What do you want me to do?" Kakashi asked.
"First, you lead people to arrest the Anbu loyal to the Third Hokage. Kill those who resist. Arrest the others, seal their Chakra, and throw them into prison."
Fugaku smiled, "You were originally a direct Anbu under the Third Hokage. This shouldn't be difficult for you, right?"
Kakashi was silent for a moment, then he opened his mouth, "What will you do to them?"
Fugaku thought for a moment and said, "It depends on their performance. The obedient ones can be released after a period of detention."
Kakashi looked at the smiling Uchiha Fugaku, and a chill involuntarily rose in his heart.
Uchiha Fugaku didn't say what would happen to the disobedient ones, but he knew very well that it would be death.
On one side were his colleagues, with whom he spent every day, and on the other was his father. Kakashi knew what he had to choose. He looked up, his eyes flashing with determination, "I'll do it."
Fugaku turned to the Uchiha Clan members who were mostly finished tidying up and instructed, "Inaho, you take people with Kakashi and follow his command. Just leave two people for me."
Uchiha Inaho nodded, gave a shout, left two clan members, and led the rest to follow Kakashi.
Might Guy was a bit bewildered. How was it that he had been ignored the entire time?
He looked at Uchiha Fugaku, who had found a chair and sat down, then looked at Kakashi, who had turned and left, and quickly caught up with Kakashi, whispering beside him, "Kakashi, are you really going to listen to him and arrest your comrades?"
Kakashi picked up the unconscious Yamato from the ground, glanced at Might Guy, and said, "Might Guy, don't you understand yet? Uchiha Fugaku is going to be the Fifth Hokage."
Might Guy scratched his head, feeling his brain itch a bit. He couldn't figure out how Uchiha Fugaku was going to become the Fifth Hokage.
Kakashi sighed, somewhat not wanting to talk to Might Guy anymore, and walked forward, carrying Yamato.
In fact, Kakashi didn't care whether Uchiha Fugaku became Hokage or not, but what he cared about was Uchiha Fugaku's ability to restore his father's honor after becoming Hokage.
...
Uchiha Clan Land.
It was already dark, and the streets on both sides were brightly lit. Peddlers pushed carts, shouting their wares, and people came and went, presenting a miniature Konoha scene.
Here, everything was as usual, unaffected.
In fact, Fugaku and their group had not informed the commoners in the Uchiha Clan Land about this operation; even the Chunin were unaware, as only Jonin clan members with a three-tomoe Sharingan were allowed to participate in this operation.
Sasuke ran quickly from a distance, stepping into the clan land and seeing that nothing had changed, which made him breathe a sigh of relief. He recalled the complex look Iruka Umino, who had returned to the Ninja Academy, gave him when he told them to go home after school, and he felt a little worried.
He guessed that the signal flares might be related to his father, but he didn't know the meaning of the three red signal flares, so he didn't think much about it and quickly returned home, planning to ask his mother what his father had gone to do.
"Oh, is little Sasuke back?"
"Sasuke-sama, what did you learn at school today?"
"Hello, Sasuke-sama."
Walking through the street, people greeted him along the way.
Facing these enthusiastic elderly men and women of the clan, Sasuke couldn't be too aloof to not respond. He nodded shyly and reservedly, hastily giving a couple of answers, which counted as a response.
Finally, he arrived in front of a large mansion.
He familiar opened the door, saw the lights on inside, ran into the courtyard, and before even entering the house, he called out, "Mother, I'm home!"
Upon entering, he saw steaming dishes on the table, and his mother was sitting at the table.
"Welcome home." Uchiha Mikoto forced a smile.
Sasuke scanned the room, dropped his schoolbag, and ran into the inner room. As expected, he didn't see his father. His older brother had been coming home very late recently, so he didn't mind.
"Mother, what did Father go to do?" Sasuke sat beside Mikoto, curiously pressing for an answer.
Outside, he was the aloof Sasuke, but at home, he became clingy.
A trace of worry flashed in Mikoto's eyes as she rubbed Sasuke's head. She also didn't know where her husband, Fugaku, had gone.
This afternoon, she had left the clan land to buy some things in town, and it had taken her a while. When she returned, the house was empty, and there was no one there.
She had also been a Jonin before she got married, and noticing that all the Jonin in the clan land were gone, she felt a little worried.
She knew that the clan was holding a meeting at Nanga Shrine tonight. Last night, before falling asleep in bed, Fugaku had even talked about it, looking very troubled.
Thinking of this, she went to Nanga Shrine on her way, but found that Nanga Shrine was also empty?
Feeling uneasy, she returned home shortly after, only to see three red signal flares rising into the sky.
Seeing the signal flares made her even more anxious.
But there was nothing she could do now, so she silently cleaned the house and prepared dinner, waiting for her husband and children to come home.
It was dark now, Sasuke was home, but her husband and Itachi were still nowhere to be seen.
Mikoto glanced at the food on the table, which would soon get cold if they waited any longer.
Thinking of this, Mikoto got up and took out exquisite bowls and chopsticks from the cupboard, preparing to eat with Sasuke first, when she heard Sasuke say from behind her, "Mother, I saw Father leading many clan members running past the school. Do you know where they went?"
CRASH!
Sasuke turned around in surprise and saw a pile of broken dishes on the floor.
"Mother?" Sasuke didn't understand what had happened.
Mikoto came back to her senses and quickly knelt down to pick up the fragments. Her long, glossy black hair cascaded down, and her form-fitting dress clung to her, revealing a perfect curve like a ripe peach.
