Chapter 9 - FRAGMENT OF THE EONES WHO STAYED

[Scene 1 – Campfire, Nighttime, Quiet Wilderness]

Crickets chirp softly. The faint crackle of a fire. Four figures sit around it. Kai sits with his arms resting on his knees, gaze lost in the flames. Noa leans against a nearby rock, eyes closed, listening. Vee brushes her long, light hair in silence. The movement is slow… ritualistic. Jet sits apart, his back against a tree. His shirt is off, exposing scarred skin. Some bruises are fresh, others old. Glass fragments float lazily near him.

Kai (softly):

"You don't have to tell me anything. I already saw it when I touched you. But… sometimes, saying it helps."

Jet clicks his tongue, annoyed.

Vee doesn't look at Kai—she stares into the fire, lashes long, expression unreadable.

Jet (mutters):

"Talking doesn't change anything."

Vee (quietly):

"Neither does silence."

A long pause. Noa opens one eye, watching quietly.

The night pulls at them. The fire seems to wait.

[Scene 2 – VEE'S BACKSTORY]

Flashback Begins

A dim bedroom filled with whispers. Red light filters through blinds. Young Vee, probably around 12, hides behind a cracked door.Inside the room: her mother, tear-streaked, holds another man's hand. Her father, drunk, screams and throws something.

Chaos. Blame. Accusations.

She runs to her room, locks the door. She's shaking, crying.

Vee (voiceover):

"I thought I was the problem. That maybe if I was lovable enough, people would stay."

She grows up surrounded by unstable affection: toxic relationships, fake apologies, empty warmth. As a teenager, she seeks love in all the wrong places.

One night, she catches someone she genuinely trusted—betraying her.

Her heart breaks for the last time. The Seraph meets her and her Vein awakens.

A pulse of raw emotional energy explodes from her.

Everyone in the room drops—overcome by their own buried desires.

Lust, regret, shame.

She stands among them, eyes glowing violet, heart still shattered.

Vee (voiceover):

"Now, I make them feel what I felt. I twist it into power… because love failed me."

Flashback ends. She's back by the fire.

Vee doesn't cry. Her face is calm, lips pressed in a thin line.

[Scene 3 – JET'S BACKSTORY]

Jet speaks suddenly.

Jet:

"You ever feel your skin rip open, and you just… watch it happen?"

Silence.

Jet:

"My dad was a piece of shit. Fists more than words. I learned to fake numbness early… but one day, I wasn't faking."

Flashback Begins

Young Jet, maybe 9 or 10, hides under a table, bleeding from the mouth. His father yells at his mother. Glass shatters. Jet reaches up… his hand trembles, and the glass stops mid-air. Later, he kneels in a bathroom. His face swollen. He's talking to himself in the mirror, eyes wild.

To much abuse.

Jet (young):

"If I could just not feel… maybe I'd be strong enough."

The mirror darkens

the Hollow answers.

Jet sacrifices his pain. From that moment, he feels nothing.

He tests it—slams a knife into his hand. No reaction.

But he still bleeds. He still scars.

He smiles through broken bones.

Jet (voiceover):

"Turns out… not feeling is worse. You chase pain just to remember you're alive."

Flashback ends.

He opens his eyes. Blood drips from one hand—he was gripping glass again.

Jet:

"Now I fight, because it's the only thing left that might break me."

[Scene 4 – Closing Around the Fire]

No one speaks for a long time.

Kai's eyes scan each of them—he sees their cracks, the pieces they've held together.

Noa stares into the fire, her face soft with understanding.

Kai (inner monologue):

"They don't need fixing. Just someone who won't look away."

He glances up at the stars.

Kai:

"Tomorrow, we move. There's more like us… broken, but not beyond saving."

Vee (soft):

"You're strange, Kai. You listen… like you already know how much it hurts."

Kai:

"I do."

[Final Shot]

The four of them, sitting together.

Still damaged.

But not alone.
